Four years on from Chibok abduction, UNICEF continues to call for children's release and immediate end to attacks on schools
ABUJA, Nigeria and NEW YORK, April 13, 2018 /CNW/ - Since 2013, more than 1,000 children have been abducted by Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria, including 276 girls taken from their secondary school in the town of Chibok in 2014 – UNICEF said today. Four years on from that tragic incident, more than 100 of the 'Chibok girls' have yet to be returned to their families and the UN children's agency continues to call for their release.
"The four-year anniversary of the Chibok abduction reminds us that children in northeastern Nigeria continue to come under attack at a shocking scale," said UNICEF Representative in Nigeria Mohamed Malick Fall. "They are consistently targeted and exposed to brutal violence in their homes, schools and public places."

Waiting for a Down To Earth Biafran War Film
We have critically acclaimed books and documentaries on the Biafran war. But no film has been able to capture the terrifying woes in motion picture.
Nigerian filmmakers have failed to produce a movie that showed the grim realities of this unforgettable harrowing experience of the Nigerian Civil War from July 6,1967 – January 15, 1970.
I am saying this authoritatively as one of the Biafran children who survived the calamities that claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of other ill-fated Igbo children, including three children of my beloved mother and more than 35,000 Biafran soldiers, including several of my brave uncles.
The best way to capture the tragic nightmares of the Biafran war is the film adaptation of the eye witness accounts of the war in the memoirs of Chinua Achebe, Cyprian Ekwensi, Elechi Amadi and others and not the film adaptation of the romantic novels of prize writers who never went through the harrowing experience.

Political Risk Remains the Key Consideration for Dealmaking in Africa
PRESS RELEASE
Political Risk Remains the Key Consideration for Dealmaking in Africa
The political uncertainty and weak macroeconomic situation that accounted for fewer deals in Africa’s largest markets in 2017 look set to ease over the coming year
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, April 9, 2018/ -- Political risk will remain a major concern for dealmakers in Africa in 2018. According to a recent report, Resourceful dealmaking: Outlook for M&A in Africa, published by Mergermarket in collaboration with specialist risk consultancy Control Risks (www.ControlRisks.com), there has been a dramatic fall in M&A activity, with declines of 25% in volume and 26% in value in the first half of 2017, compared with a relatively buoyant 2016.
Imad Mesdoua, Senior Political Risk Consultant at Control Risks, comments: “The drop-off signifies growing investor anxiety surrounding governance issues and weaker economic signals across key African markets. Specifically, political risk and transparency concerns have become the principal obstacles to successful acquisition in Africa. Ethical and compliance considerations are another major factor clouding the outlook for potential investors.”

Many Africans Choose To Be Corrupt and Incompetent Out of Stupidity
There is always a choice between intellectual curiosity and intellectual stupidity.
~ Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima

I have seen that intellectual stupidity among those who even went to school is caused by rebellion against enlightenment and rebellion against acceptance of the truth; irrational thinking caused by lack of ratiocination and foolish pride.
