Behold the Nigerian Generation of Olodos!

Behold the Nigerian Generation of Olodos!

Shocking reports of mass failures in Nigerian school examinations have only confirmed the observations of many scholars and social watchdogs since the past and present incompetent administrations of the Nigerian government have failed to address the systemic failure of modern education in Africa’s most populous nation.

How can pupils and students pass examinations and excel in scholarship when they no longer read!

They prefer to waste their quality time chatting and pinging on smart phones, babbling and gossiping on Facebook filled with their trivia of junk, Twitter and other social network sites, hooked on European soccer leagues and championships and messing around in wanton promiscuous sexual intercourse spun by psychedelic X-rated hip hop music videos and pornographic movies on the Internet and TV while their equally corrupt parents and guardians have failed to be good role models since they have been caught in extramarital affairs of adultery, rape, and other licentious acts of debauchery and other corrupt practices.

Many of the parents are actually intellectually retarded and the only thing they know best is having sex and breeding children they cannot care for. So, majority of the retarded parents breed retarded children and increasing the population of dummies and liabilities who are a regular supply of recruits for crime and prostitution in Nigeria.

What of the school teachers?

When the educational system has collapsed, what kind of teachers do you expect from the tertiary schools?

Over 80 percent of the teachers are not professionally qualified to teach, because they don’t have the compulsory certification to teach.
I bet you, that majority of them will fail the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations if they were in the US.

Majority of the Nigerian teachers in Nigerian schools are even as intellectually retarded as their pupils and students.

In 2008, 19,118 teachers in public schools in Kara State failed the aptitude and capacity tests in English and Mathematics designed from primary four pupils!

Then we have received the latest shocking report that 80 percent job seekers failed the 2011 Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) recruitment aptitude test. And the applicants are the so called best graduating students with first class and second class upper class degrees from Nigerian universities.

“The recent mass failure of candidates in WAEC and NECO exams nationwide makes the call for an urgent surgical review of our schools system more urgent than envisaged. Also our current experience in the ongoing recruitment exercise where candidates with the so-called 2:1 certificates post less than 20 percent score line in some cases has heightened our apprehension about the lack of functionality in our education format. Over dependent on certificates is not the best. Over 80% of the candidates that wrote the NNPC recruitment exams failed,” said Engr. Austen Oniwon, the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Monday August 22, 2011.

Majority of the graduates from the universities have been found wanting in intellectual skills, unemployable and unproductive.

They have been cheating to gain admission into tertiary institutions and cheating to pass examinations and cheating to graduate, cheating to get jobs and they continue cheating as a way of life until they pass away.

The Nigerian society is like a serio-comic tragedy of existential drama on earth.

The following observation is from a Nigerian blogger.

Distractions Unlimited!
While the Bermuda Triangle of social networks – Twitter, Facebook and Google – still reigns supreme; Blackberry (BB) has become a must for many. These students are no exception, they are constantly pinging. If only the propensity to face-book can be converted to facing their books, then these guys would pass. A post summarizes it thus:
SUN NEWSPAPER today confirmed that ONE million candidates failed SSCE… Y wont dey fail?
FB/ BB/ Lace wig/ …BBA/ Wizkid/ Oniru/ Galleria/ Elegushi/ Ozone/ Shawarma…/ Pizza/ ipod/ Brazilian Hair/ Twitter/ Sagging/ nimbuzz/ ipad… Mcheewwww!!!

~ By Nwachukwu Egbunike in Why won’t they fail? of The Feathers Project blog.

Mental retardation (MR) is a common malaise plaguing majority of the youths and just listening to the popular ditties of 99% of their most sensational hip hop singers is enough to rate their low Intelligence Quotient (IQ).

Communicating with them is like having a nightmarish discussion with idiots online and offline.

These hordes of Nigerian youth I call NFAs (No Future Ambitions) are intellectually retarded with below-average intelligence quotient (BAIQ).

The majority of Nigerian youths we are seeing before our very eyes today are a generation of dullards or what we call “Olodos” in the popular Yorùbá language.

What Prepares Poor Youth Graduates for Jobs?

Report shows participation better prepares poor youth graduates for jobs and the future

KANSAS CITY, Mo., August 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Tomorrow is International Youth Day. In a year when youth unemployment in the United States has hit a record high at 24%, and globally at 45%, poor youth graduating from Children International’s Youth Program state they are more educated and possess job skills needed to get a job and have a better future.

In a report released by the Kansas City-based humanitarian organization, the over 12,000 youth graduating from Children International’s Youth Program also report participation in the organization’s program is vital to their success in school, ability to remain healthy and motivation to reach their goals.

Children International has issued its annual Youth Report Card based on the latest graduate survey, and youth say involvement in the charity’s education, health, job skills, leadership and financial savings programs – even minimally – improves their chances of obtaining a job and becoming self-sufficient.

The report discovered other key findings:

1. At the time of graduation, 86% of youth are still studying or have finished high school.
2. 95% of graduated youth state they graduate from CI’s youth programs with at least one job skill.
3. Youth who actively participate in CI programs are one-and-a-half times more likely to attend a four-year university and two times more likely to attend a college or technical course as compared to those who never participate.

Many youth graduates involved in the report and their families live on less than $1.25 a day in impoverished communities in 11 countries around the world. The more education and job-skills training they receive, the better their chances of becoming self-reliant in an increasingly competitive global job market.

Children International President and CEO Jim Cook said, “I admire our youth for their hard work and courage to overcome poverty. They face incredible hurdles every day and choose to take a path of positive change.”

Children International’s Youth Program provides its 130,000 members, ages 12 to 19, an opportunity to become more educated, better prepared for employment and more involved in civic affairs. The program is geared to preparing impoverished youth approaching adulthood to become healthy, self-reliant adults. Youth learn those skills through a variety of programs including leadership training, organized sports leagues, job-skills training and community and civic activities and responsibilities.

The Lamentation of an NYSC Member

The Lamentation of an NYSC Member

What do we do? Is there possibility of free and fair? Every one raises an eyebrow, over what? A situation that is overlooked! I cannot help but cry for my nation. What a nation! I sleep and wake with the thought of how to make it better, free from all manners of catastrophe. But can I do it alone? How can me when even those that are supposed to lead for an onward match to sensitization and success are nowhere to be found. You deny your subjects their right, making unfulfilled promises year in year out. When can we truly realize these? I ask. Imagine a society free from social crisis. Whereby meaningful employment is made available at all levels both for graduates and non graduates. Providing food for all, especially for the poor, less privileged, handicapped and the destitute as well.

A stable and reasonable transport system,

Good roads maintenance, proper and effective education at all levels with sound practicability.

I cannot imagine myself in an island as an islander to make me understand no man is an island, yet you make me an island. What a contradiction.
I put it to you even if we are called to serve it does not in any way make you have the right to use and dump us, leaving us to our own fate. It indeed turns out fruitless.

Imagine a world whereby everybody is a master, what would be our fate? A question you need to answer.

Whether I am compelled or not to serve you, I shall serve you. Does that make me less human? No! Yet you make me and my entourages feel so bad.

You deny us the comfort that belongs to us. No accommodation, yet you call us a national/federal figure, when we are not the partakers of the national cake? We do not ask for much, a little accommodation, meaningful employment and all that need to be allocated to us just like you get your allocation allocated to us.
The truth of this matter is that there is the possibility of a free and fair positive change in our nation, Nigeria.

When you know your onions, dot your i’s and cross your t’s, you came across as a leader and reconsider the considerate, take proper actions, then we can boast of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and not “National Yeye Service Corp (NYSC)” carrying out their duties with every credibility.

Nigerians, we are the genesis of our problems:

Stop the marginalization; refuse to be corrupted, so there can be true fairness, for a positive change. Brace up and be liberated or remain a second class citizen.
This is what you need to do. Play your roles with all diligence and credibility, so that we can have a better Nigeria, free from all manner of unnecessary liabilities.

May God help us.

About the National Youth Service Corps

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE NYSC

The NYSC scheme was created in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established "with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity".

As a developing country. Nigeria is further plagued by the problems attendant upon a condition of under development, namely; poverty. mass illiteracy, acute shortage of high skilled manpower (coupled with most uneven distribution of the skilled people that are available), woefully inadequate socioeconomic infrastructural facilities, housing. Water and sewage facilities, road, health care services, and effective communication system. . Faced with these almost intractable problems, which were further compounded by the burden of reconstruction after the civil war, the government and people of Nigeria set for the country, fresh goals, and objectives aimed at establishing Nigeria as:

(a) a united, strong and self reliant nation:
(b) a great and dynamic economy;
(c) a land of bright and full opportunities for all citizens; and
(d) a free and democratic society.

Re: The Minimum Wage Of N17, 000 Is Nonsense

Re: The Minimum Wage Of N17, 000 Is Nonsense

Do you know that thousands of secondary school leavers who cannot gain admission into higher institutions need jobs and many of them are paid as little as N5,000 monthly salaries in Lagos and other places? My friend pays his receptionist N8, 000 monthly and thank God her residence is not far from the office.

Majority of the civil servants in Nigeria are going to depend on the minimum wage and those with families will have no choice but to use their children and other dependants to hawk goods on the street.
Monday night on the way home from work at about 10.33 pm, I saw children still hawking at the Maryland bus near Ikeja and I told an elderly woman hawking with them to go home and sleep. She looked at me and continued with her work.

Today I went to the Tejuoso market in Yaba and I saw hundreds of boys and girls selling petty goods and the Igbo boys engaged in their rag trade of second hand clothes and other goods. I was heartbroken, because many of them have better dreams than petty trading.
I saw depression written on the faces of hundreds of traders and shoppers. I saw pretty girls and handsome boys struggling for survival and JAMB reported today that there is no space for 340, 000 successful UTME candidates and lest we forget hundreds of thousands of graduates and millions of secondary school leavers are jobless.

I returned to the office feeling depressed, because of the bleak future of the poor masses and their children.

If we sack the ruling megalomaniac party and set up a government without a National Assembly, we are going to save trillions of naira to invest in human capital development and develop a 21st century economy to provide better living wages for majority of Nigerians.
It is possible.

Expose Corruption Everywhere in Nigeria

Do you know that over 20 million Nigerians have graduated from tertiary institutions since 1948 to date? But majority of them have wasted their skills and talents and have done more harm than good to Nigeria. Their mismanagement of the civil service made Nigeria to become one of the most corrupt and underdeveloped countries in the world. But to make matters worse, their ill-bred children and grandchildren are following the evil footsteps of their cheating, lying and stealing foolish and corrupt parents, uncles and aunts. The cankerworms destroying our beloved country.

These brainless and shameless brutes and intellectual morons who cheated their way into the tertiary schools and also cheated and forged their way into the public and private sectors are the enemies of our progress. We must expose them and get rid of them by simply rejecting them everywhere we spot them.

Expose the cheats among us and expose corrupt ones in the schools and offices in Nigeria.

We must practice and uphold the best principles and practices of scholarship and workmanship.

We must respect and uphold the dignity and integrity of human values and virtues and we must stop behaving like ANIMALS in the jungle.
