Queens of Kannywood, Rahama Sadau and Maryam Booth Entangled in "The Two Aishas" Movie

Queens of Kannywood, Rahama Sadau and Maryam Booth Entangled in "The Two Aishas" Movie

Last Sunday, I was at the cinemas to watch "The Two Aishas" starring the two leading ladies and beauty queens of #Kannywood, Rahama Sadau and Maryam Booth .

This is my first time of seeing them together in a movie.

This is the directorial debut of Hajia Shareefah Abiola Andu of Arabel Productions and Aleef TV of Arabel Nigeria Limited.

After a bitter fallout with her best friend when her husband was handed the gubernatorial ticket which was taken from her best friend’s husband, Aisha Yusuf must reconcile with her best friend and unite their husbands who are now at loggerheads.

According to director, the movie is filled with intrigues that will keep fans glued to the box office screen till the end.

‘The Two Aishas’ are women of the same Islamic faith and status who are married to two best friends. But their loyalty and friendship got tested and no matter how they looked at it, one party felt robbed and betrayed by the other, threatening to tear apart an enduring friendship from childhood and test their faith as devout Muslims.

“It addresses relatable themes such as forgiveness, betrayal, love, rivalry and piousness,” she said.

"The Two Aishas" is showing daily at all the FilmHouse Cinemas in Nigeria and Ghana, Silverbird Cinemas, Genesis Cinemas, Ozone Cinemas, Blue Pictures Cinemas, Kada Cinemas, Platinum Cinemas, Exodus Cinemas, Magnificent Cinemas and other cinemas in every state in Nigeria.

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, October 11, 2022/ -- Africa’s leading creator and producer of children’s educational media, Ubongo (www.Ubongo.org), is delighted to announce the launch of Ubongo Girl Champion campaign toolkit as a resource to inspire action for the Girl Child. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to amplify African girls’ voices and experiences in a fun and educational way.

“We believe that girls’ voices should always be amplified no matter the day. Today simply marks the start of a journey to empower the general public to become advocates for the girl child. Through the campaign toolkit, we are leading a movement to celebrate girls in all of their glory and invest in a future that believes in their agency, leadership and potential,” said Ubongo’s Outreach and Communications Manager, Tamala Maerere-Kateka.

The Ubongo Girl Champion campaign toolkit invites the public to partake in hosting screenings of Ubongo’s girl-power episodes for girls and boys of ages 7 to 14. The screenings can take place in both formal and informal settings, such as, at home, at school, in girl-focused programs and at the community level. Those who take part in hosting the girl-power episodes will stand a chance to win an Ubongo Girl Champion award in recognition of the incredible work being done to celebrate and champion girls. The public is encouraged to use #UbongoGirlChampion and tag @ubongokids (https://bit.ly/3CNZkrh) when sharing posts about their screenings on social media platforms to help with the recognition process.

To support the girl-power episode screenings, Ubongo has also created a guide to help with the registration and setting up of girl-led Utu Clubs to empower girls in different communities. Utu Clubs are a fun, interactive way for kids to build knowledge and skills in STEM, do good in their community and work together to act with Utu (shared humanity).

Research shows that girls learn as much as boys from Ubongo edutainment (Borzekowski, 2017). The episodes will introduce viewers to the five remarkable girls of Ubongo Kids (Kibena, Kiduchu, Amani, Nina and Tabasamu) who navigate and overcome challenges while learning STEM and 21st century life skills.

“We are already elevating learning for over 31 million African kids, and our vision is to equip the 500 million kids in Africa with the educational foundation, critical skills, and mindsets to change their lives and the world,” added Mrs. Kateka.

Confraternity of Christian Mothers Festac Celebrates with Mrs Muo

Obeying the Biblical admonition to Christians to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn, members of the  Confraternity of  Christian Mothers, CCM from the Catholic Church of Visitation, Festac Town, Lagos on June 25, 2022, trooped out in their numbers to rejoice and felicitate with one of their own, Mrs Ann Muo at the wedding of her daughter, Augusta Ifeoma Muo.

The holy matrimony took place at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.

The gaily dressed and vivacious CCM mothers proved to be their sister's keeper as they gave amble moral support to one of their own ensuring that the wedding was one of  the best organised social events in the recent time.

The bride's mother herself brought colour and distinction to bear on her daughter day of glory as her company, Spanset cakes & events ensured that everybody went home with a pack of cakes( different Flavours).

Founded in France over 150 years ago, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers was founded by lay women to discuss their struggles in raising their children and to pray for each other in a culture that had become increasingly opposed to Catholic values.

CCM members who graced the wedding include Mother Esther Okereke, president Emeritus, Mother Vivian Obi, Ex Vice President,

Mother Modesta Iguh president, Mother Adaku Agughasi, Vice President, Mother Ann Okorafor Treasurer.

Others include, Mother  Chioma Ekeh Provost, Mother Uche Emetarom, Financial Secretary 2, Mother Chinyere Chinedu, Provost 2, Mother Adaku, Ezeugo welfare.

The rites of joining Ifeoma and John as husband and wife had begun a week earlier with a lavish but multi-cultural traditional wedding that witnessed a rich and enchanting blend of Igbo, Itsekiri and Yoruba cultures.

This was expected as the groom is Itsekiri with a Yoruba mother while the bride is Igbo from Anambra state.

The traditional wedding had in attendance Captains of Industry, politicians, professionals etc.

The galaxy of guests from virtually all parts of Nigeria gave the traditional wedding the colour of a pan-Nigerian event.

All Nigerian dishes which were served further added glamour to the wedding.

The colourful Itsekiri dance troupe ushered the groom amidst cheers.

The groom's mother, a Yoruba, added rich Yoruba panache to the event with breath-taking Yoruba eulogy and dance steps.

Guests at the traditional wedding included a former Senator representing Lagos East senatorial district and current MD/CEO of the  Federal Housing Authority, Sen.Gbenga Ashafa among other notables.

The classy traditional wedding foretold the quintessentially glamourous church wedding that took place on June 25.

It attracted the high and mighty in the society with exotic dishes and wines made available to all guests.

The Glass Shatterer

 The Glass Shatterer

An original Story by Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima

He was born dumb, but his glass-breaking wail registered at 105 decibels, almost as loud as a jackhammer shattered glasses to smithereens.

What is the power behind his glass shattering voice?

Ugoma had been barren for over a decade and became the object of derision mocked by her mother in-law and scorned by her drunkard husband who often beat her at the slightest provocation whenever he was drunk. He was cheating on her by sleeping with other women to have children, but none of them got pregnant and he blamed it all on the miserable Ugoma, he and his mother called a witch.

Eventually Ugoma got pregnant in the twelfth year of their marriage and rejoiced. "HALLELUJAH!" Olu ebube Jehovah!" She exclaimed in her mother tongue of the  Igbo language that it was the wonderful miracle of Almighty God. But her husband and mother in-law and others called it a strange pregnancy. He even accused her of sleeping with another man. But Ugoma's joy became sour when she gave birth to a dumb male child. Her husband and mother in-law and mockers laughed at her and called her child, imbecile.

One stormy night, her husband returned home drunk and because she was still not done cooking what he was expecting to have for dinner, he pounced on her,  beating her mercilessly. Their son who was now almost a year old suddenly screamed as he wailed and the  deafening sound of his piercing voice shattered the glass cups, glass bottles and class windows in the entire house. His parents shaking in fear and trembling in shock as they gazed at him. He hugged his mother and glared angrily at his father who was dumbfounded.

The Leadership of Muslims Must Ban Paedophilic Marriage in Islam

According to a study in 2020, Islam has 1.9 billion adherents, making up about 24.7% of the world population. Most Muslims are either of two denominations: Sunni (87–90%, roughly 1.7 billion people) or Shia (10–13%, roughly 180–230 million people).

The leadership of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) must ban the rampant sexual abuse of underaged girls by old men suffering from paedophilia (a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent girls) in Islamic communities worldwide.

Paedophilic marriage is the major cause of the millions of underprivileged girls out of school in northern Nigeria.
Any sexual intercourse with a Girl-Child is #RAPE.

Elizabeth Vargas reveals the heart-wrenching stories of child marriage victims, who against all odds, escaped the most dire of circumstances. These brave survivors tackle this taboo issue in their personal lives and help to shine a light on the national epidemic with the hope that no child will ever have to be a victim again.

This powerful investigation into Shia clerics in some of Iraq's holiest shrines uncovers a network of exploitation of young women and girls, trapped into prostitution and pimped out by a religious elite. Unprecedented undercover filming and victim testimony reveal how they procure young women for male clients, and are prepared to conduct 'pleasure marriages' with children.

Can A #Transgender Woman Get Pregnant?

Can A #Transgender Woman Get Pregnant?

Trans Women and Fertility: What We Know, What We Don't Know, and What You Can Do - Family Equality

On average, transgender women want to become parents at the same rates of other LGBTQ+ people

The research shows that 97% of transgender adults think that fertility should be discussed prior to transition (no surprises there) and 51% of transgender women wish they had preserved their fertility before transitioning.

Only 3% of transgender people actually do preserve their fertility, and it does seem liketransgender women in general may have lower sperm quality and quantity even before starting hormone therapy.

Hormone therapy contributes to loss of volume, concentration, motility (ability to move), and total count of sperm, even after you stop taking it

Split Personality Disorder and Celebrity Depression in Nollywood

Split Personality Disorder or Dissociative Identity Disorder is defined as a disorder in which two or more distinct and separate personalities (known as alters) exist within an individual. Some people with DID refer to their personalities as parts, alters, others, or head mates. It depends on the individual's preferences with regard to identity.

###

Symptoms include abnormal and irrational behaviours; on and off mood swings and disorderliness in the house.

Disorderliness is actually a sign of mental illness.

Most of those affected in #Nollywood  are the female actors whose past experiences in dysfunctional families, dysfunctional abusive relationships or marriages and emotional immaturity and professional insecurity have affected their personalities which they often cover up with makeup and cheesy celebrity stupidity.

Many of their roles in movies and TV series are actually enactment of their own lives in past or present circumstances of abusive relationships, infidelities, rape and other traumatic experiences.

Nollywood has become a good camouflage and masquerade for many of them who should see psychotherapists.   But where are the psychotherapists in Nigeria?

A Nigerian TV presenter could not come on air, because she was nursing a black eye from physical assault by her husband over her refusal to have sex, because she was tired.  She has been in abusive marriage for years. But she has to  contunue to pretend that she is a happily married relationship expert. And she is not the only one.

Some of the female actors in Nollywood need a #MeToo Wake Up Call.

Many of the churches cannot address their cases, because the pastors, ministers and counsellors are not trained in psychology

The widespread cases of broken relationships and marriages in Nollywood are also similar to the numerous cases in other professions in Corporate Nigeria.
