Now that President Umaru Yar’ Adua has Passed On

Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua (16 August 1951 – 5 May 2010)

Now that President Umaru Yar’ Adua has Passed On

Only those who love President Umaru Yar'Adua are mourning him. But the hypocrites and parasites who have been praying and wishing him dead are celebrating. To them his exit is an opportunity for them to come into the corridors of power to join the looters of the treasury to plunder Nigeria and pass on their ill-gotten riches to their children and children's children as their predecessors have been doing for decades in the perpetuation of their legacy of profligacy.
They are as Jesus Christ called them a generation of vipers.

"Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"
~ Matthew 23:33

The new President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

Now that President Umaru Yar'Adua has passed on, and the former Acting President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has put on the sash bearing the green, yellow and white colors of Nigeria since 9 a.m. (0800 GMT), sworn in as the new President of Nigeria, how would he prosecute the case of money laundering against his wife, the new First Lady Patience Jonathan?

How would he prosecute the sacred cows of power brokers and carperbaggers indicted in the N27 Billion Halliburton bribery scandal?

Now that the Acting President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is now the head of state and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, can we move on or do we still remain in the vicious circle of the anomie of decadence and violence?

The choice is yours?

God bless Nigeria.

Dear Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, Tell that to the Marines

Nigeria's Acting President Goodluck Jonathan

Dear Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, Tell that to the Marines

Dear Acting President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,

The headlines of your presidential order for the manhunt and arrest of Chief James Ibori, the former governor of Delta state are all over the place online and offline.

You have said there would be no sacred cows in the anti-graft war in Nigeria. But I wonder why you have not ordered the EFCC to arrest those indicted in the Halliburton Bribery and corruption case and those indicted in the Daimler bribery scandal?

Are you afraid of these UNTOUCHABLE SACRED COWS?

Lest I forget, what of the sweetest sacred cow in your home. No, not the other woman in your life. Your private love affair is not my business oh.

I mean your CASH MADAM herself, the Acting First Lady or First Lady in Waiting, who has been fasting and praying for First Lady Turai Yar'Adua to return to Katsina state with her medically incapacitated husband and vacate Aso Villa for her BOTTOM POWER.

Is it not on record that on September 11, 2006, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seized $13.5 million dollars (US) from Mrs. Patience Jonathan when you were the lucky governor of Bayelsa State? She laundered the money through an associate and in August of the same year, the EFCC had a court order to freeze N104 million Cash Madam Patience allegedly tried to launder through one Mrs. Nancy Ebere Nwosu. The EFCC confirmed that in a sworn statement, Mrs. Nwosu implicated Patience Jonathan.

Mr. Acting President, if your Acting First Lady and the other cabal of your ruling party of Sacred Cows can still be dining and wining and wishing you goodluck in your chess of political power to become the next President of Nigeria, then I am shocked that you had the audacity to order the arrest of Chief James Ibori. Is this your own style of the anti-graft war.

Please, tell that to the Marines.

Yours Proudly Nigerian,

Orikinla Osinachi

Before We Sweep the N27 Billion Halliburton Bribery Scandals Under The Carpet

Before We Sweep the N27 Billion Halliburton Bribery Scandals Under The Carpet

It is very funny how majority of people in Nigeria have deliberately developed goose pimples and slowly ignoring the most important and urgent situation, the prosecution of the 81 persons indicted by the United States law enforcement officials for partaking in the N27 billion Halliburton bribery scandals.
Even the dead among them must have survivors who must account for their shares of the bribes.

Americans, Europeans, Asians, Arabs and Australians would have been addressing this preposterous state graft until all the criminals have been punished, but typical of hypocritical Nigerians, they are mischievously turning to less important issues, because many of them, including the electorate are beneficiaries of these criminals who have been destroying Nigeria.

Acting President Goodluck Jonathan does not have the balls and guts to prosecute the criminals and in fact, he recently appointed one of them as his security adviser.

I have been watching how he has been dodging from facing the challenge of their prosecution and this only proves that he is a weakling and cannot be a competent head of state.
It would be better for him to hand over to General Muhammad Buhari (Rtd) who is not afraid to even prosecute himself if found to be complicit in the corrupt practices destroying Nigeria.

We must destory the rule of kleptocracy in Nigeria.

Beyond the Diplomatic Tête-à-Tête Between Goodluck Jonathan and Barack Obama

Beyond the Diplomatic Tête-à-Tête Between Goodluck Jonathan and Barack Obama

Acting President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was invited to the two-day Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington, D.C., on April 12 and 13, 2010. But before the crucial summit he met with President Barack Obama at the Blair House to discuss the bilateral relations between the U.S. and Nigeria, a week after both countries signed an agreement for the U.S.-Nigeria Binational Commission.

Bilateral relations between the U.S. and Nigeria have been strained for disclosed and undisclosed reasons of which the most apparent was the case of electoral malpractices masterminded and perpetrated by the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP ) during the 2003 and 2007 elections in Nigeria. The U.S. rejected the results and found Prof. Maurice Iwu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wanting and would want electoral reforms to prevent electoral malpractices in future elections. Another problem was the critical case of the Nigerian al Qaeda underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab whose botched attempt to blow up an American plane on Christmas Day shocked the U.S. and increased the suspicion of Nigeria as a vulnerable target for recruiting al Qaeda foot soldiers. The last case actually culminated in the U.S. security warning to all her citizens to relocate from the predominantly Islamic northern states of Nigeria. Moreover, the protracted illness that incapacitated President Umaru Yar’Adua left the U.S. with no better choice but to support Acting President Jonathan in the amelioration of the bilateral relations between the two great countries.

President Barack Obama emphasized that the “United States places great importance on the US relationship with Nigeria and the Nigerian people” and “urged Acting President Jonathan to use his tenure to make historic and tangible progress in strengthening the Nigerian government's commitment to follow through on countering corruption."

Majority of Nigerian news media channels were carried away by the importance of their meeting and seemed to ignore the importance of the Nuclear Security Summit that was attended by 47 nations and was the largest meeting of top global leaders since1945. This was the first summit and will be a biennial event , and the next one comes up in Seoul in 2012. The Summit focused on how to better safeguard weapons-grade plutonium and uranium to prevent nuclear terrorism.

At the end of the summit, there was a communiqué with a seven page work plan.

World leaders at the Nuclear Security Summit

Communiqué from Washington Nuclear Security Summit
Nations pledge to strengthen nuclear security, reduce nuclear terrorism

April 13, 2010

Communiqué of the Washington Nuclear Security Summit
Nuclear terrorism is one of the most challenging threats to international security, and strong nuclear security measures are the most effective means to prevent terrorists, criminals, or other unauthorized actors from acquiring nuclear materials.

In addition to our shared goals of nuclear disarmament, nuclear nonproliferation and peaceful uses of nuclear energy, we also all share the objective of nuclear security. Therefore those gathered here in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2010, commit to strengthen nuclear security and reduce the threat of nuclear terrorism. Success will require responsible national actions and sustained and effective international cooperation.

We welcome and join President Obama’s call to secure all vulnerable nuclear material in four years, as we work together to enhance nuclear security.
Therefore, we:

1. Reaffirm the fundamental responsibility of States, consistent with their respective international obligations, to maintain effective security of all nuclear materials, which includes nuclear materials used in nuclear weapons, and nuclear facilities under their control; to prevent non-state actors from obtaining the information or technology required to use such material for malicious purposes; and emphasize the importance of robust national legislative and regulatory frameworks for nuclear security;

2. Call on States to work cooperatively as an international community to advance nuclear security, requesting and providing assistance as necessary;

3. Recognize that highly enriched uranium and separated plutonium require special precautions and agree to promote measures to secure, account for, and consolidate these materials, as appropriate; and encourage the conversion of reactors from highly enriched to low enriched uranium fuel and minimization of use of highly enriched uranium, where technically and economically feasible;

4. Endeavor to fully implement all existing nuclear security commitments and work toward acceding to those not yet joined, consistent with national laws, policies and procedures;

5. Support the objectives of international nuclear security instruments, including the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, as amended, and the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, as essential elements of the global nuclear security architecture;

6. Reaffirm the essential role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the international nuclear security framework and will work to ensure that it continues to have the appropriate structure, resources and expertise needed to carry out its mandated nuclear security activities in accordance with its Statute, relevant General Conference resolutions and its Nuclear Security Plans;

7. Recognize the role and contributions of the United Nations as well as the contributions of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism and the G-8-led Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction within their respective mandates and memberships;

8. Acknowledge the need for capacity building for nuclear security and cooperation at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels for the promotion of nuclear security culture through technology development, human resource development, education, and training; and stress the importance of optimizing international cooperation and coordination of assistance;

9. Recognize the need for cooperation among States to effectively prevent and respond to incidents of illicit nuclear trafficking; and agree to share, subject to respective national laws and procedures, information and expertise through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms in relevant areas such as nuclear detection, forensics, law enforcement, and the development of new technologies;

10. Recognize the continuing role of nuclear industry, including the private sector, in nuclear security and will work with industry to ensure the necessary priority of physical protection, material accountancy, and security culture;

11. Support the implementation of strong nuclear security practices that will not infringe upon the rights of States to develop and utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and technology and will facilitate international cooperation in the field of nuclear security; and

12. Recognize that measures contributing to nuclear material security have value in relation to the security of radioactive substances and encourage efforts to secure those materials as well.

Maintaining effective nuclear security will require continuous national efforts facilitated by international cooperation and undertaken on a voluntary basis by States. We will promote the strengthening of global nuclear security through dialogue and cooperation with all states.

Thus, we issue the Work Plan as guidance for national and international action including through cooperation within the context of relevant international fora and organizations. We will hold the next Nuclear Security Summit in the Republic of Korea in 2012.

Chinua Achebe: "Acting President Goodluck Jonathan is Weak"

Prof. Chinua Achebe

The most lionized African writer, Prof. Chinua Achebe, 79, has said that there seems to be no legitimate government in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa and where his literary genius sprouted and blossomed until an auto-accident on 22 March 1990 left him paralyzed; and disappointment in Nigerian political leaders made him to relocate to the United States of America, where he has been teaching at the David and Marianna Fisher University and as a Professor of Africana Studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, United States.

Chinua Achebe said Acting President Goodluck Jonathan is weak in his reaction to the horrifying massacres of native Christians in Plateau state and blamed the spread of Islamic extremism for the recurrent ethno-religious crisis in Jos and other parts of the middle belt and northern Nigeria.
“He suddenly doesn’t seem to bring good luck. He is weak. A strong man in any position in Nigeria should be horrified by what happened in Jos. Shamed is what we should feel. We don’t seem to have any government. People don’t know where their president — before the present acting president — where he went or where he is,” Achebe said.

He was speaking in an interview he granted Deborah Solomon for The New York Times on his historic Things Fall Apart which has been translated into over 40 different languages worldwide and sold over 8 million copies.
"That would be possible. I’m not grumbling; I have done well. But don’t imagine I’m a millionaire," Achebe said.

Prof. Achebe also spoke on the Nigerian Al-Qaeda underwear bomber, Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, saying what he attempted was insane!

Can America Save Nigeria Before It is Too Late?

Perennial massacres of Christians by Hausa Fulani Muslims in Nigeria have been going on for decades and was responsible for the Nigerian civil war from 1967-1970.

Can America Save Nigeria Before It is Too Late?

~ By Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima

The U.S. State Department recently denied a Nigerian newspaper report that President Barack Obama is preparing American troops for a “special intervention” in Nigeria to save Christians after the gruesome massacre of over 500 Christians by Hausa Fulani Muslims in Plateau state. See the gory pictures here.

President Barack Obama of the United States of America.

The Nigerian Compass newspaper is owned by a south-western state government under the control of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). It reported that its story was deduced from statements made by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) chief, General William Ward; that the U.S. would intervene before sectarian violence precipitates Nigeria into chaos. The horrifying pictures of how hundreds of defenceless Christians were attacked and slaughtered at midnight and their homes razed provoked worldwide condemnation with the premonition of genocide reminiscent of Rwanda looming large among millions of native Christians in the middle belt and northern states of Nigeria.

Am outraged President Barack Obama ordered for a thorough investigation of the massacre and that the perpetrators must be found and punished. This was enough to make Nigerians conclude that the U.S. would intervene to stop the incessant attacks and killings of innocent Christians by Hausa Fulani Muslims.

“In a word, flabbergasted. This story is a complete fabrication. There are no U.S. troops being prepared to intervene in Nigeria. We have checked with AFRICOM and General Ward has made no such statement,” said Russell Brooks, press officer for the State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs.
“Yes, the U.S. does have legitimate concerns about the political situation there. And we have expressed those on the record. And we are doing what we can to encourage Nigeria to remain on a democratic path, to retain its constitutional values. And we have done nothing to suggest that our concerns are only based on our desire to retain it as a source of dependable oil production or that we are only concerned about the potential for terrorism coming from Nigeria,” he explained.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton provoked the Nigerian government after her last visit in 2009 when she accused government law enforcement agencies of being ruthlessly corrupt and guilty of violations of human rights. The situation worsened when the Nigerian Al Qaeda terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was caught aboard the Northwest Airlines Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day and subsequently Nigeria was put on the terror watch list. Then the State Department told American citizens to leave the northern region of the country where Islamists have been attacking and murdering thousands of Christians and razing many churches. The directive alarmed the Nigerian government and fueled rumours of plans of United States military action against terrorists in northern Nigeria. Unclassified information circulated that hundreds of C.I.A. agents have been sent to investigate links to the Al Qaeda in northern Nigeria. An American who arrived Lagos, Nigeria on the first week of 2010 told this reporter that indeed hundreds of C.I.A. agents were combing Nigeria for suspects.

The Voice of America (VOA) reported Russell saying the United States knew that the creation of AFRICOM could be misinterpreted as an attempt to “bring the war on terrorism to the African continent, so the U.S. could more easily intervene into conflicts.”

He said that the mission of AFRICOM is to “increase the capacity of African militaries to conduct legitimate external and internal defense, for instance, to combat terrorism, to protect…borders, to respond in a case of humanitarian disasters.”

Acting President Goodluck Jonathan

The U.S. has pledged to support Acting President Goodluck Jonathan since the incapacitated President Umaru Yar’Adua can no longer continue to serve as the commander-in-chief of Nigeria. Former President George W. Bush was recently in Nigeria. And his visit reinforced the fears of Nigerians that the U.S. President that commanded the invasion and occupation of Iraq in the war on terror was a warning that America is going to target terrorists in the country.

President Umaru Yar’Adua is no longer fit to rule.

It is on record that the U.S. did not invite President Umaru Yar’Adua to the inauguration of President Barack Obama and instead invited the leader of the main opposition party, the ex-military head of state, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(Rtd), who is also Hausa Fulani Muslim from the same Katsina state of the incapacitated President, but he is feared in Nigeria for his uncompromising stance against corruption.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(Rtd)

The party of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(Rtd) lost the last presidential election to the ruling party, but the U.S. government and majority of the local and international monitors rejected the result of the massively rigged election. Majority of people said Buhari would have won if the election was free and fair. He took his case to the Election Tribunal, but suspended his petitions when he lost confidence in the tribunal and chose to contest in the next presidential election in 2011 and from popular opinion polls he is favoured to be the next President of Nigeria since the northern region is still expected to produce a replacement to complete the two terms given to President Umaru Yar’Adua. But would another Muslim head state support the political interests of the U.S. in Nigeria?

US Still Worried About the Political Situation in Nigeria

5 Mar 2010 12:52 Africa/Lagos

Political Situation in Nigeria

WASHINGTON, March 5, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Office of the Spokesman.

Nigeria is very important to the region, the continent, and to the United States, yet it remains unsettled as a result of President Yar'Adua's uncertain medical condition. Since his return home from Saudi Arabia, President Yar'Adua has not been seen publicly or met with members of his cabinet or any of his country's key political leaders, generating additional unease about the stability of the country and physical capacity of the president to lead the government. In a modern democracy, senior cabinet members and legislative leaders have a right to know the health status of their president and so do Nigeria's citizens.

In President Yar'Adua's absence, we applaud the Nigerian leaders who have taken steps to restore confidence in the country's political system while adhering to democratic principles. We welcome Acting President Jonathan's commitments on electoral reform, anti-corruption, post-Amnesty programs in the Niger Delta, and justice for the perpetrators of sectarian violence and extra-judicial killings.

As Nigeria deals with its current political crisis, it is essential for the country's leaders to avoid any actions that will imperil Nigeria's last ten years of democratic progress as well as the accomplishments that have been achieved under civilian rule. Nigerians have a right to expect their civilian and military leaders to work through their country's democratic institutions, ensuring that the good of the many triumphs over the ambitions of the few.

Political Situation in Nigeria

Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, Theophilus Danjuma and Company Plc

Acting President Goodluck Jonathan

The fact that Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd)GCON, FSS psc, is Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee of “Acting” President Goodluck Jonathan is enough proof of the bad judgment of the Vice President of Nigeria.

Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) and his wife thinking of what to do with their $500 million cash from selling their illegal oil block.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan is simply name-dropping. The emergency committee is made up of strange bedfellows. Corrupt retired generals and their partners in crime would have been indicted and convicted in America and executed in China for their ill-gotten wealth, but in Nigeria, they are rewarded and promoted. Moreover, lest we forget Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan, the "First Lady" in waiting has a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for money laundering. Would that be swept under the carpet?

How legal is the $500m, Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd made as his profit from the total of $1bn for selling an oil block, which was allocated to him 12 years ago by the corrupt military junta of late Gen. Sani Abacha?

What is destroying Nigeria is not the so-called kitchen cabinet of the First Lady of Nigeria, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, but the political hydra of the ruling party of Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the "Acting President" Goodluck Jonathan is part of this notorious monstrosity.

Let us say the truth and call a spade a spade.
