African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 Africa-Europe Roundtable to Discuss the Competing Priorities and Potential Collaboration
During African Energy Week 2023, a spotlight will be placed on the collaborative efforts between Africa and Europe in achieving global energy security while facilitating a just transition

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, August 18, 2023/ -- The global energy landscape is at a crossroads, with Europe and Africa facing distinct yet intertwined challenges in their pursuit of sustainable development. As the African Energy Week (AEW) approaches, the stage is set for a critical discussion on the delicate balancing act required to harmonize Europe's renewable energy aspirations with Africa's drive towards oil and gas-powered industrialization. At the upcoming Africa-Europe Roundtable Discussion to be held at AEW - scheduled for October 16-20 in Cape Town - participants will delve into the complexities of these competing priorities, highlighting the need for collaboration and innovative solutions.

Historically, Africa has been heavily reliant on external financial assistance for its energy projects, rendering it susceptible to shifts in global policies and investment trends. While foreign aid has facilitated advancements in renewable energy, Africa's untapped oil and gas reserves, comprising a staggering 620 trillion cubic feet of gas and 125.3 billion barrels of oil, hold the potential to revolutionize the continent's energy landscape and spur sustainable economic growth. The imperative here is to transition away from aid dependency towards commercial relationships that enable Africa to harness its own energy potential.

In recent times, Europe has shown a strong commitment to transitioning towards renewable energy sources. This shift is driven by growing environmental concerns and the global push for decarbonization. A notable example is the EU's Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative, a forward-thinking framework with three key objectives: improving access to affordable and environmentally friendly energy, promoting investment in renewable energy projects, and encouraging community involvement while ensuring financial backing. While investing in renewable energy in Africa is crucial for the continent's decarbonization goals, Africa also remains determined to utilize its substantial oil and gas reserves to drive economic growth and industrialization. This contrast in priorities has created a distinct challenge, demanding a considerate and strategic approach to achieve mutual progress while effectively tackling energy security and climate change issues.

Amidst the turmoil of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a notable paradigm shift occurred as Europe found itself compelled to explore alternative energy sources, such as African gas and coal imports, underlining the intricate interdependence of these continents and its energy resources. This scenario reinforces the imperative for open dialogues and cooperative strategies to address shared energy challenges.

While Europe's emphasis on renewable projects is undeniable, the partnership between European companies and African counterparts has been pivotal in advancing oil and gas initiatives. Collaborative efforts such as TotalEnergies' involvement in the Egina deepwater field in Nigeria and Eni's projects across several African nations, notably Mozambique’s Coral Sul, exemplify the positive impact of such partnerships. Beyond mere energy production, these ventures contribute to job creation, skills development, and economic empowerment, aligning with Africa's drive for industrialization.

Meanwhile, nations like Tanzania and Mozambique are positioning themselves as vital players in Europe's search for alternative gas sources. With visionary offshore projects and forthcoming liquefied natural gas (LNG) initiatives, these countries are poised to cater to Europe's energy demands in the near future. This emerging synergy reinforces the importance of Africa's resources in Europe's quest for energy diversification.

As the Africa-Europe Roundtable Discussion at AEW approaches, the focus is on fostering comprehensive dialogue between African executives and European investors. This platform transcends traditional aid frameworks, aiming to establish mutually beneficial commercial collaborations that address Africa's energy needs while offering lucrative opportunities to European investors. The roundtable's significance is paramount, as it not only tackles immediate energy challenges but also catalyzes broader economic growth and trade between the two continents.

The balancing act between Europe's renewable agenda and Africa's oil and gas ambitions is complex but not insurmountable. The Africa-Europe Roundtable discussion at AEW stands as a pivotal moment in shaping this collaborative journey. By navigating these competing priorities and fostering strategic partnerships, both continents can pave the way for sustainable energy, economic growth, and global cooperation.

AEW is the AEC’s annual conference, exhibition and networking event. AEW 2023 will unite African energy policymakers and stakeholders with global investors to discuss and maximize opportunities within the continent’s entire energy industry. Nollycasting is Attracting International Casting Directors

Nollycasting is Attracting International Casting Directors

Nollywood diva, Stephanie Linus' Nollycasting.com is attracting international casting directors in search of new faces for film and TV productions, music videos, adverts and fashion shows.

"Nollywood actress, Onyinye Odokoro got a major role on Nollycasting for Sky Original TV Series' "Unwanted” in Italy where she is now acting alongside top actors," said Stephanie.

"Unwanted" is produced by Sky Studios, Pantaleon Films and Indiana Production and directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.

Sky released first look images for the new Sky Original drama, “Unwanted.” Inspired by the book “Bilal,” an investigative book from journalist Fabrizio Gatti, the eight-part series tells the story of an undercover human rights defender who is helping migrants journey from Africa to Europe as they battle human traffickers and government officials. https://www.google.com/amp/s/variety.com/2022/tv/global/sky-unwanted-first-look-images-1235188198/amp

NBCUniversal Global Distribution are handling international sales of the series on behalf of Sky Studios. “Unwanted” is set to air on Sky and streaming service Now in all Sky territories. The release date has not yet been announced.

Stephanie said she is already looking at the profiles of the actors and models on Nollycasting for the cast of her new film projects by Next Page Productions.

Casting directors in America, Spain, the UK, France and Italy have been asking for Nigerians and other Africans for roles in acting, modeling, TV commercials and music videos.

Nollycasting is free to use for both new and seasoned talents in the film and TV industry. In partnership with its subsidiary, Next Page Talents, the platform also provides customized talent management services for creative individuals who want to take their career to the next level.

"It's easier than ever to cross that gap between having the right skills and finding the right job on Nollycasting.com. Creative individuals such as actors, models, music artistes and more can upload their profiles and highlight their skills, thereby positioning themselves to be discovered by casting directors who are actively recruiting for such roles" said Stephanie Linus who is currently in the United States of America in preproduction for one of her new film productions: a crime thriller on the triangle of human trafficking in America, Europe and Africa.

Nollywood Has Nothing Original To Show Us On Netflix

Nollywood Has Nothing Original To Show Us On Netflix

From all I have seen of NIgerian movies on #Netflix so far, including the Netflix's Nigerian Originals in movies and series, I don't see any that can compare and compete with the best from America, Asia, Europe and Australia on Netflix in screenwriting, casting, directing, production design, music and cinematography.

There is nothing new that is different from the normal melodramas of #Nollywood on DStv, IROKOtv and public TV channels.

Too much makeup, inappropriate costumes without knowledge of appropriate costumes for storytelling with the cinematography and the music is out of sync with the different scenarios showing  apparent ignorance of using soundtracks for characterisations and the acting is plastic in many scenes like they want to copy scenes from the telenovelas of #Telemundo.

A total lack of originality.

The best NIgerian series is not on Netflix, it is "Oasis" currently showing on TVC.

A Film Adaptation of "Ameno" is Overdue

I have viewed this epic music video of "Ameno" of ERA by Eric Levi and I thought it was the trailer of the movie. The song produced in 1996 by the Baby Boomers generation is currently having worldwide resurgence by both millennials and Gen Z on TikTok.

The film adaptation is long over due and I found the historical background of the theme of the song on
http://www.euronet.nl/users/ernstoud/era.html.

The following is enough treatment for the screenplay. And I will like to produce it.

###

WhatWhat Can I Say?

In August 1998 I visited a late 19th century fortress 'Fort Vuren' which was once part of the defense system New Dutch Waterlinie, meant to defend the Northern part of Holland, in particular the city Gorinchem. This fortress was never used in battle and is now sometimes used to house art exhibitions. During such an exhibition they played music that overwhelmed me. The cold and very damp fortress (with feet-thick concrete walls below ground level) with its church-like acoustics together with the music melted into an almost eerie experience.

I thought I heard an album by Enigma. But it turned out to be an album called 'ERA' by the French composer and guitarist Eric Levi.

The music is a weird mix of Gregorian chant (performed by the English Chamber Choir), rock and disco. Musicians are Lee Sklar, Chester Thompson, Philippe Manca, Neal Wilkinson, Patrice Tison and Eric Levi.

I only recognize Chester Thompson who always played drums with Phil Collins when Genesis was on tour.

Parts of the album remind me of the Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, other parts seem inspired by early works of Mike Oldfield.

On first sight it is hard to tell what this concept album is about. The CD sleeve contains little information apart from a two couplet verse:

When the children of Montsegur came down from the pog

The sun had not yet returned day to the world

On their pale faces could be seen their grief and sadness

Without faith they went

Time had passed, the children have grown with great hope

And sometimes, when they look up to the mountains

They can hear those strong and beautiful voices

Beating on the sound of a rhythm, the Cathar rhythm.

Based on this verse and the enormous encyclopedia the Internet has turned into, it is fairly easy to do research.

At the start of the 13th century Catholicism reigned supreme but a number of Christian diversions where popular. The acts of Pope Innocentius III made large amounts of people hostile towards Catholicism because it seemed that Church did present Rome instead of faith. A fertile environment for heresies, one of these was Catharism, of which the largest group formed in the South of France, in the Languedoc area near Toulouse.

Catharism preached that the body is evil but that one's soul is devine and therefor must be set free. During the 13th century the Inquisition and Crusades controlled from Rome eradicated the Cathars. Montsegur (Mont Segur = Safe Mountain) was one of the last Cathar bastions to fall when (after a siege of 10 months) the Cathars on Montsegur were given 14 days to surrender. They had the option to deny their faith or be killed. Almost all choose to keep faith so 205 men and women were burned at the stake on March 15th 1244.

There is a lot of mystery about the Cathars and Montsegur. On July 21st the sunrays enter and leave the ruins through four openings. Did the Cathars have some solarian rites?

Also it is believed that just before the surrender of the Cathars at Montsegur, a party was secretly sent down to rescue the Cathar's treasure and hide it in secrecy, never to be found again ...

A Good Filmmaker is A Good Storyteller

"You cannot be a good filmmaker if you are not a good storyteller."

- Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima.

A good filmmaker is a good filmmaker regardless of the gender, race, tribe, class, religion and location. And every good filmmaker should be rated by the quality of the work whether in #Hollywood, #Bollywood or #Nolllywood .

It is unacceptable to me to rate a filmmaker by the color, class or location in the world.

Every good black or African filmmaker should be rated and valued as every good white Caucasian or Asian filmmaker.

Samsung Galaxy Phone Banned in the UK and 31 other countries

The latest Samsung Galaxy Xcover

The Huffington Post has just reported that Samsung Galaxy Phone has been banned in 32 European countries after Apple won a preliminary injunction in a Dutch court preventing Samsung from selling its Galaxy smart phones in Europe. But the court cleared Samsung of copying the Apple iPad in its design of the best selling Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet that is popular in Nigeria and other countries worldwide.

Apple filed a 44-page complaint claiming that Samsung Galaxy tablet is an unlawful duplication of Apple iPad, an infringement of Apple's “design patent” in the United States.

iJET Outlines Risk Landscape in Nigeria and other countries for 2011

19 Jan 2011 18:22 Africa/Lagos

iJET Outlines Risk Landscape for 2011

Intelligence Firm Issues Recommendations for Protecting Travelers, Operations and Supply Chains

PR Newswire

ANNAPOLIS, Md., Jan. 19, 2011

ANNAPOLIS, Md., Jan. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- iJET Intelligent Risk Systems, a leading provider of global intelligence and business resiliency services, today outlined the major risks and trends that it anticipates will most significantly affect business travel, risk management and resiliency planning in 2011.

"As businesses continue to expand globally, it becomes increasingly important for organizations to understand, track and plan for a myriad of risks that can jeopardize their success," said Steve Hoffman, CEO of iJET. "Leveraging our team of world-class intelligence experts, iJET has provided a critical look at the year ahead and forecasts events that could have the greatest impact on our clients' day-to-day operations, enabling them to better survive and thrive amidst a growing threat landscape."

iJET's analysts predict that many of the issues faced by businesses in 2010 will continue to remain a concern in the coming year. These include economic volatility in Europe, Latin America and Africa , drug-related violence in Mexico and neighboring Latin American countries, and the ongoing challenges surrounding airline passenger security. iJET also warns organizations to watch for a number of developing risks that could threaten business operations and travel around the globe.

A regional breakdown of the forecasted areas of concern for 2011 include:

* The Americas: 2011 will be a critical year for Guatemala as it combats a surge in drug cartel-related violence spilling over from Mexico. Increased government instability could materialize in Nicaragua and Honduras resulting in civil unrest, while important elections in Argentina , Peru , Ecuador and Bolivia could perpetuate political instability and violent protests.

* Europe : Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is expected to announce early in 2011 whether he will run for president in elections slated for 2012. There are fears that civil unrest would grow more common if Putin makes a run for the office he previously held for the maximum allowable term limit. He undoubtedly enjoys more de jure power as prime minister, but many suspect he won't be able to help himself, and that he will attempt to replace incumbent Dmitry Medvedev, who many view as a "placeholder" until Putin returns.

* Middle East/ North Africa : Presidential elections taking place November 2011 in Egypt have the potential to spur civil unrest before, during and after voting, especially in light of the overthrow of Tunisia 's regime, which many unfavorably compare to Hosni Mubarak's decades-old autocratic regime. Continued violence can be expected in Yemen , further exacerbated by the release of diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks in late 2010. In addition, Saudi Arabia may face issues with succession that could bring uncertainty and instability. Lebanon awaits on tenterhooks the verdict in the death of Rafik Hariri, and the controversy will keep regional politics – already perennially unstable - particularly unsettled.

* Africa : The ongoing battle for the presidency of Cote d'Ivoire will strongly influence a number of key political referendums and elections that will take place throughout Africa in 2011, including: Zimbabwe , Southern Sudan , Nigeria , Liberia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo . If Cote d'Ivoire's incumbent president refuses to resign, leaders in other African nations could follow suit and threaten the positive governance trends across the continent. The outcome of the coming divorce between Sudan and South Sudan will also resonate strongly across Africa and beyond and could embolden less worthy separatist movements elsewhere.

* Asia : Succession issues could arise in Thailand leading to another wave of violent protests and riots, and uncertainty and animosity between the two Koreas will keep the region unsettled. Pakistan and Afghanistan will continue to pose grave challenges for the region and the world.

In addition to regional threats, recent events such as Haiti's category 7.0 earthquake and the Eyjafjallajokull ash cloud crisis reveal that other unforeseeable events such as natural disasters and terrorist incidents continue to remain a threat to business operations in 2011.

Finally, with outbreaks of H1N1 on the decline, pandemic-sized health threats are not expected for 2011. However, iJET cautions organizations to monitor seasonal influenzas and other health risks – such as the recent Cholera outbreak in Haiti – closely as epidemics are also unpredictable.

President Obiang Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation With Europe and Africa

Sustainable Development and Growth the Focus of Africa-EU Summit

MALABO, Equatorial Guinea, Dec. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of his activities surrounding the 3rd African-European Summit in Libya, President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea (Republica de Guinea Ecuatorial) held meetings with world leaders to discuss cooperation and progress in the country. Equatorial Guinea has been making significant preparations in advance of the African Union Summit next year and moving toward achieving the U.N. Millennium Goals.

The purpose of the African-European Summit was to discuss investment, economic growth and job creation and create a joint strategy to integrate models of sustainable development and growth for Africa and Europe.

This was the third summit between the African continent and the European Union following those celebrated in Egypt in 2000 and Portugal in 2007. President Obiang held several important meetings with African leaders and with the main representatives of the European delegations. In a meeting with the minister of foreign affairs of France, Michele Alliot-Marie, the two discussed the wish of the French government for the country to increase bilateral cooperation and to focus more attention on the training of human resources. President Obiang later met with his Italian counterpart, Silvio Berlusconi.

Most of the people who met with President Obiang offered their support during the next African Union Summit and showed their support for Equatorial Guinea's work in the fight to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and those of the country's Horizon 2020 development plan.

During a meeting with the Portuguese prime minister, Jose Socrates, President Obiang discussed strengthening the relations that exist with Portugal and other aspects related to the possible entrance of Equatorial Guinea in the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

Similarly, President Obiang also held meetings with Ali Bongo Ondimba, his Gabonese counterpart from the co-organizing country of the 2012 African Cup of Nations, and with John Evans Atta Mills, president of the Republic of Ghana, with whom he has excellent relations. President Obiang also met with the heads of state of Mozambique and Eritrea.

Also in attendance at the summit were President Obiang's minister in charge of missions, Alejandro Evuna Owono; the vice minister of foreign affairs, international cooperation and Francophonie, Eustaquio Nseng Esono; the ambassador of the Permanent Mission for Equatorial Guinean to the African Union, Ruben Maye Nsue Mangue and the ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Cairo, Benigno Pedro Matute Tang.

About Equatorial Guinea

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea (Republica de Guinea Ecuatorial) is the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa, and one of the smallest nations on the continent. In the late-1990s, American companies helped discover the country's oil and natural gas resources, which only within the last five years began contributing to the global energy supply. Equatorial Guinea is now working to serve as a pillar of stability and security in its region of West Central Africa. The country will host the 2011 Summit of the African Union. Who is Afraid of a Bloody Revolution?

Who is afraid of a bloody revolution?

“We need a revolutionary change, a bloody one and those who survive will pick the pieces…corruption has eaten deep and everybody is involved, only a bloody revolution will remedy the situation.

That was how France was saved… if you read about the French revolution, that was what saved France and Europe is what it is today because of the French revolution. I cannot see the country being saved other than through a bloody revolution.”
~ Prof. Ben Nwabueze, SAN, at the occasion of the public presentation of his new book Colonialism in Africa: Ancient and Modern (Volumes 1 & 2), at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday July 7, 2010.

I concur with the erudite scholar and an icon of the incorruptible Nigerian intelligentsia.

The Nigerian intelligentsia is cast between the devil and the deep blue sea held to ransom by a corrupt ruling class ruled by a culture of corruption and a culture of hypocrisy.

There is the despotic corrupt ruling class of the kleptocracy and the hypocritical electorate who do not even think twice to muffle their conscience once they get the chance to dine and wine with the corrupt kleptomaniacs in the corridors of power.

I have no respect whatsoever for both or anyone without dignity and integrity.
It is a gross waste of time to engage in any discussion with these dogs and pigs of the earth.

"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”
~ Matthew 7:6 of the Holy Bible.

Here we are with a President Goodluck Jonathan whose chief advisers are unrepentant kleptomaniacs former President Oloye Olusẹgun Mathew Okikiọla Arẹmu Ọbasanjọ, GCFR, retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma GCON FSS, psc, and his former boss Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha ("DSP").
OBJ is the boss of all bosses of the Nigerian political Cosa Nostra.

They think they are sacred cows or untouchables who are above the law.
But they should be ready for the Judgment Day around the corner.

The solution is the total eradication of corruption at all levels and in all quarters by the elimination and extermination of all corrupt and evil people wherever we find them from the street to the pulpit, from the classrooms to the corridors of public and private offices.

We must not spare evil people otherwise they will continue to perpetrate and perpetuate their evils.
If we do not destroy evil doers, evil doers will destroy us.

In terms of growth, it's the country with the second highest increase in the number of jobs posted online after France.

The United Kingdom is the European country with the most mature and dynamic online job market. Even for mid-level or high-level professions, the Internet is often recruiters' first choice when it comes to finding a suitable candidate; something that is not replicated in other European countries, such as Italy. For example, in the first four months of 2010 the top four vacancies on offer were for team managers, sales, developers and technical support.

In the first four months of 2010 the number of vacancies published on the Internet increased around 10% month-on-month. The market experienced an increase of 7% from January to February, with an added increase of 10% between February and March. From March to April, the number of vacancies increased by 15%.

London centralizes around 60% of the job vacancies in the UK - in April the number of vacancies in London was ten times higher than in the second city with most offers, Manchester. The cities that complete in the top five with the most vacancies on offer are Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds. The growth in London is an indicator of growth in the rest of the country. The growth trend, however, is not reflected in the number of offers in Leeds and Liverpool, where the number of online vacancies has decreased from February onwards.

Trovit, the leading search engine for classifieds in Europe, has a large volume of vacancies from the most important job boards and portals in eleven European countries, which allows it to compare between the different markets.

Laptops and Smart Phones - the Most Common Mobile Computing Products Used by CXOs in Europe, Finds Frost & Sullivan

LONDON, March 9, 2010/PRNewswire/ --

Laptops and smart phones are the mobile computing products most commonly used by European chief executive officers (CXOs). However, web-based collaboration tools, valuable particularly for business travel, are gradually gaining importance. Mobile-based applications, both location-based and multimedia contents, are relatively new concepts offering significant potential for service providers.

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.wireless.frost.com), 2009 European CXOs' Choice: Computing Products and Services, finds that the European CXOs expect the mobile communication as well as the computing products and services they use to be utilitarian rather than full of frills.

"Of the various mobile communication and computing products and services, all European CXOs surveyed in this research use or own laptops/notebooks," says Frost & Sullivan Research Manager Krishnendu Roy. "They perceive reliability as the core function of their laptop/notebook with all other features being secondary."

Smart phone ownership increased dramatically from 2008 to 2009, with the number of European CXOs now owning a smart phone doubling. This significant increase has directly affected standard feature phone ownership rates. Nearly all European CXOs perceive smart phones to be strictly business phones, while standard feature phones are seen as personal use phones. In either case, battery life and ease of use are perceived as the most important features.

"Overall, among those using web-based collaboration tools, 70 percent consider ease-of-use as the most important feature," concludes Roy. "Interestingly, having a powerful feature set is least important to European CXOs as few of them use mobile multimedia content applications or mobile location based applications."

USA - Will she Remain on the Top or Topple?

USA - Will she Remain on the Top or Topple?

AHMEDABAD, India, December 22/PRNewswire/ -- The economic history of U.S., like its history has its roots in European settlements of the 16th century. These successful colonial economies grew into small independent farming economies which after 1776 became the United States of America. A central feature of the U.S. economy is the freedom of the private sector. The period of 1930 saw the great depression from which U.S. emerged strong and that between 1960 and 1990 saw the fiscal policy being replaced by monetary policy as a regulator of the overall pace of economic activity. During the last 230 years of its existence, USA has grown into a huge integrated industrialised economy that represents about a quarter of the world economy.

Today, the U.S. is in a unique situation; no other nation has the same amount of power financially, politically and not least, military. The country has incredible influence over the world. Her national & international politics are of paramount importance to the entire world because it reflects upon her relationship with other countries.

Since 2001, U.S. has been embroiled in conflicts as well as tough & demanding situations straining her economy. She underwent a housing market correction, a sub-prime mortgage crisis and a declining dollar during 2008. On December 1, 2008, the NBER declared that U.S. was in recession. Recession in the U.S., is a very bad news for a lot of countries. With experts like former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker feeling that the economic growth will remain pretty sluggish, and a lot of people seeing U.S. as a fading superpower hobbled by the recession, let's see what Ganesha has to say regarding the U.S. with the help of astrology (http://www.ganeshaspeaks.com); because her actions in next few years will decide much for the future.

Natal Horoscope (http://www.ganeshaspeaks.com ) of USA

(Due to the length of this URL, it may be necessary to copy and paste this hyperlink into your Internet browser's URL address field. Remove the space if one exists.)

Leo (http://www.ganeshaspeaks.com/horoscopes/leo.jsp), the rising sign is in the second quadrant of the constellation Purva Phalguni (The Fruit of the Tree). Sun, the lord of the rising sign is conjunct with Jupiter, Venus and Mars in Gemini (http://www.ganeshaspeaks.com/horoscopes/gemini.jsp), the 11th house of gains. Mercury, the lord of wealth & gains, is conjunct Rahu in Cancer (http://www.ganeshaspeaks.com/horoscopes/cancer.jsp), the 12th house of loss. USA was formed in the period of Mars-Mars-Mercury.

Presently, Ketu (South node) is transiting over natal Sun, Jupiter, Mars and Venus through Gemini, the 11th house of gains indicating negative impact on gains for a period of about one and a half years, while Rahu's (North node) transit over the 5th house will cause unpredictable fluctuations in the stock market. Saturn's transit over the 2nd house, of finance and economy will cause reduction and undue delay in the influx of funds.

She is undergoing the major period of Moon and sub-period of Ketu (South node). Moon, the Lord of 12th house is placed in the 7th house of War. Ketu (South node)is placed in the 6th house representing debts and hidden enemies. Moon placed in the constellation of Dhanistha (The Star of Symphony) presided over by Mars, indicates that she will be determined to fight and to tackle terrorism; a cause of concern ever since U.S. entered major period of Moon in August 2001. This means, an increased expenditure on defense & security, further impacting the economy.

With Jupiter transiting through Aquarius ( http://www.ganeshaspeaks.com/horoscopes/aquarius.jsp) after 19th of December, 2009 when it passes over her natal Moon, she will find strength to withstand this onslaught. However, the Saturn-Jupiter opposition will bring significant changes in U.S. and its position as a super power.

Thus Ganesha feels that the struggle for U.S. is far from being over, and economy will continue to remain limp for about an year and a half, till October 2011. In short, U.S. is on the verge of beginning of a whole new era and that might change the whole global political scenario in next couple of years.

Nigeria's Largest-Circulation Newspaper Recognizes Role of World Congress of Families in Africa: Pro-Family Message Will Be Carried To Europe, August 10-12

Registration Still Available For World Congress Of Families V In Amsterdam, August 10-12

WASHINGTON, July 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Sun, Nigeria's largest-circulation newspaper, was fulsome in its praise of World Congress of Families for helping to organize the conference, "The World Congress of Families Dialogue of Civilizations," in Abuja, Nigeria's federal capital, June 4-7.

The "Dialogue of Civilizations," hosted by the Foundation for African Cultural Heritage, brought more than 400 participants to the Musa Yar'Adua Centre, for what The Sun called "the first pro-family conference in Africa."

The paper described the event as "aimed at giving the Nigerian perspective to a troubled world lurching from one moral crisis to another."

The Sun noted that addresses included: "A Plan of Action on the Family in Africa," "A Christian View on Sexuality and Family," "Population Decline of the Developed World - A Lesson for Africa," "Pornography and the Family," and "A Plan to Defend the Family at the United Nations." Besides Nigeria, participants came from Cameroon, Ghana, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Netherlands and the United States.

WCF Communications Director Don Feder, who represented the Congress at the event, said, "We're pleased to have Nigeria's largest-circulation newspaper recognize the importance of the Abuja conference and the role World Congress of Families is playing in strengthening the pro-family movement in Africa."

The Abuja Conference was a preparatory-conference for the upcoming World Congress of Families V in Amsterdam, Holland, August 10-12.
