HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!
Children are my best true friends and that is why my life is focused on doing my best for them to secure the future of our children.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of my company, International Digital Post Network Limited is focused on the education and welfare of the millions of underprivileged girls out of school in Nigeria.

Let us pray for the health, safety and well-being of our  children.

O, Lord JESUS Christ,
We pray for a heart that loves you.
Give us the strength to love others more than we love ourselves.
We thank you for this day.
We thank you for another opportunity.
Amen.

Lord,
I ask that you would direct our mind to know, investigate and seek the truth
and to understand the difference between wise and foolish choices.
Make us prosperous and victorious triumphant overcomers in the world.
In the mighty name of our MESSIAH JESUS Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever
AMEN.

Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund Appoints Dr Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko as General Manager

Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund Appoints Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko as General Manager

The Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF) has announced the appointment of Dr Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko as General Manager.

With the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Nigerians, the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund aims to support vulnerable groups, strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare systems and reskill the Nigerian Youth for a post COVID-19 era. To this end, the NSSF has set its main priority for 2021 going forward: To get One Million Nigerians vaccinated against COVID-19.

Dr Chinye-Nwoko is a qualified medical doctor and an accomplished executive with over ten years of experience in program management. With a proven track record in designing and implementing multi-donor projects from inception to completion, she is ideally placed to oversee the focus on a vaccination program for Nigerians, driven by her passion for healthcare delivery.

After qualifying from the University of Port Harcourt in 2010, Dr Chinye-Nwoko spent the first part of her career as a medical doctor with the Lagos State Health Service Commission. She spent four years at the Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation where, amongst other initiatives, she led the development of policies and guidelines for the improvement of maternal and child health outcomes in Nigeria.

In 2019 she gained a Masters degree in Global Health Policy from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Through her consultancy work she has been at the forefront of innovations in telemedicine, and provided program management for EpiC, the USAID funded program which provides support to the Government of Nigeria to mitigate COVID-19 transmission, morbidity and mortality.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr Chinye-Nwoko to steer the NSSF towards its goal of vaccinating one million Nigerians,” says Tijani Babatunde Folawiyo, Chairman of Global Citizen Nigeria.

“Her wealth of knowledge and experience in healthcare equips her to navigate this huge task, which includes making sure that our citizens are well informed about the vaccine. We are excited to move the work of the fund forward with her involvement,” he says.

Dr Chinye-Nwoko says that she aims to contribute to the building of a resilient healthcare system in Nigeria, with a focus on removing the barriers to access quality healthcare. She says her first task will be the focus on vaccine equity and education.

“I would love to see NSSF bring together like-minded passionate Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, to help finance this new focus. We have identified the great need for our people to be protected against COVID-19 and to this end will be working to acquire vaccines and ensure that Nigerians have the benefit of knowledge about the vaccine. We will work towards creating an understanding of why it is necessary for as many of us as possible to be protected from the disease.”

The NSSF has raised over $ 2.4 million and is launching a new drive to encourage Nigerian philanthropists, HNIs, corporate organizations, the public sector and international businesses, to contribute to the pool. The fund for Nigerians by Nigerians aims to raise $ 50 million, and you can support this initiative by visiting     https://nigeriasolidarityfund.ng/donate/. All donations will support the health and economic crises caused by the pandemic.

The NSSF is a private-sector led institution born out of a partnership between the Global Citizen (GC) and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) to complement efforts in combating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic through fund raising to address three core COVID-19 response areas: supporting the most vulnerable, strengthening health care systems and re-skilling of Nigerian youth for The New Nigeria.

The Institution believes that everyone should have access to quality and affordable healthcare services when they need it, young Nigerians should be enabled with opportunities for self-empowerment and well-skilled for a post-COVID era and that the most vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalized groups in Nigeria should not be left behind.

The Best Antimicrobial Facemasks for Protection From COVID-19

The Best Antimicrobial Facemasks for Protection From COVID-19

Wear them to prevent spread of the virus, especially for those who may be asymptomatic, carrying the virus without realizing it.

When you cough or sneeze into an antimicrobial mask, positively charged ions in the fabric will inhibit and eliminate bacteria on the surface of the mask, said Keane. Antimicrobial masks also help to eliminate odor from use.

Particularly popular among antimicrobial masks are copper masks, which contain — you guessed it — copper, which helps kill bacteria and viruses that come in contact with it. A recent study from the New England Journal of Medicine found that the COVID-19 virus died within hours when placed on a copper surface.

4 Most Shocking Facts on Dirty Habits in Nigeria

Market women and their children prepare a meal at their slum settlement in Lagos, Nigeria June 10, 2006. The world's growing number of poor slum dwellers is a ticking time bomb that governments dare not ignore, the United Nations said on Friday. (George Esiri/Reuters)

4 Most Shocking Facts on Dirty Habits in Nigeria

1. 33 million Nigerians defecate in the open depositing 1.7 million tonnes of
fæces in the environment annually.

2. 20% of Nigerians expect to be consoled for farting or belching without apologies.

3. 90% of Nigerian food vendors and cooks handle food immediately after blowing their noses.

4. 90% of Nigerians don’t wash their hands after urinating by the roadside.

People defecating in the open in Nigeria

The unhygienic ways of life in Nigeria have made life expectancy to drop below 48 years and may continue to drop until majority of Nigerians stop their unhygienic lifestyles. And the government should sack the stupid Minister of Health who said, “Dying is global. Perhaps is the turn of Nigerians to be dying young. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.”
The minister is just another Nigerian dumb-ass who is worsening the incompetence of public service in Nigeria.

Consider Medical Treatment Options

New ad campaign urges patients to consider medical treatment options

Washington DC., June 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — “Explore Your Treatment Options,” a new multimedia ad campaign announced today by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Ad Council, encourages patients to become more informed about their options before choosing a treatment for a health condition or illness.

The goal of this campaign is to increase consumers’ involvement in their care by providing easy access to unbiased information about treatment options and tools to encourage patients to work with their doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other clinicians to make health care decisions. It features television, radio, print, web and outdoor ads that encourage consumers to visit AHRQ’s Effective Health Care Program website to find plain-language guides that summarize the scientific evidence on treatments for numerous medical conditions, including diabetes, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and more.

“We see the best outcomes when doctors and patients work together to come up with a treatment plan that takes into account the patient’s quality-of-life concerns,” said AHRQ Director Carolyn M. Clancy, M.D. “Information is power in health care, and this campaign will provide patients with the information they need to become partners with their doctors in their health and health care.”

Since 2005, AHRQ’s Effective Health Care Program has compared the outcomes and effectiveness of different treatments and communicated findings to providers and consumers to help them make informed decisions about health care. For example, Treating High Cholesterol: A Guide for Adults, provides easy-to-understand information about different kinds of cholesterol medicines, including how they work and their side effects. The guide also includes a list of questions that patients can ask their doctors to help them choose their best treatment option.

As part of the campaign, AHRQ’s Effective Health Care Program website features personal stories from patients with chronic conditions who achieved better health results by exploring their treatment options. In addition, a new Health Priorities Snapshot tool features questions about common daily activities and allows users to rate the importance of quality-of-life concerns. Patients can print out a list of their own health priorities and share it with their clinicians during medical appointments. These features are available at http://www.effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov/options.

Created pro bono for the Ad Council by Grey New York, the new television, radio, print, outdoor and web ads highlight the fact that consumers have options when buying clothing, dining out, watching a movie or buying a car and should expect options when it comes to their health care.

“This new campaign is a wonderful extension of our ongoing efforts with AHRQ to encourage Americans to take a more active role in their health care,” said Peggy Conlon, president and CEO of the Ad Council. “These ads speak to a compelling insight--we look for options in nearly every aspect of our lives, but we’re not always exploring all treatment options available when it comes to our health care. It’s a very important message, as these decisions can affect the length and quality of our lives.”

The new public service advertisements are being distributed to approximately 33,000 media stations nationwide. Per the Ad Council's donated media model, all of the new public service advertisements will air and run in advertising time and space donated by the media.

“People expect options when it comes to the most mundane things in life like shopping, dining and wallpaper,” said Rob Baiocco, EVP, Managing Partner, Grey Worldwide. “This campaign pushes them to demand the same options when it comes to the most critical thing in life, their health.”

Health hazards of Car A/C (Air Conditioning)

No wonder more folks are dying from cancer than ever before. We wonder where this stuff comes from but here is an example that explains a lot of the cancer causing incidents. Many people are in their cars first thing in the morning and the last thing at night, 7 days a week. As I read this, it makes me feel guilty and ill. Please pass this on to as many people as possible. Guess it’s not too late to make some changes

Car A/C (Air Conditioning) MUST READ!!!

FROM STANFORD HOSPITAL & CLINICS FOR MORE.

Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.

Open the windows after you enter your car and turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here's why:

According to a research, the dashboard emits Benzene, a cancer-causing toxin (carcinogen - take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car).

In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia and reduces white blood cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer.

Can also cause miscarriage. .

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 70 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.

People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin.

Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver. What's worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

So friends, please open the windows and doors of your car and give time for the deadly interior air to clear out before you enter.

Environment Health and Safety Regulations on the Rise in Africa

Environment Health and Safety Regulations on the Rise in Africa

BRUSSELS and WASHINGTON, April 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Enhesa presented a webinar in March on the explosion of EHS regulations throughout Africa. As a result of increasing opportunities for investment, many companies have decided to open facilities in African countries. Over 250 EHS professionals from a broad spectrum of industries attended the webinar. Participants were asked to complete an on-line questionnaire. Overwhelmingly the main concerns of attendees were understanding regulations and creating a culture that cared about EHS issues.

Enhesa unveiled its EHS Regulatory and Enforcement Matrix. In order to comprehensively understand the developments and trends of EHS requirements in Africa, consultants analyzed the number of EHS issues regulated, whether there are effective EHS enforcement measures in place, powers of enforcement authorities, and powers of internal EHS positions. It revealed that countries such as Botswana and Kenya lack regulations and enforcement, while Ghana and Morocco have regulations but little enforcement. While South Africa has the strongest regulation and enforcement capabilities amongst African countries; Algeria and Nigeria are not far behind.

Enhesa also highlighted the major trends in the environmental, health and safety and products areas.

Environmental: Experiencing the fastest rate growth, the strengthening environmental framework often results in direct requirements for a facility and fines, shut-downs, and clean-up costs for a non-compliant company.

Health and Safety: Due to a rising awareness of poor labor conditions, health and safety requirements are increasing. Non compliance can result in court cases, punitive damages, and compensation payouts. Countries in Africa will continue to take the first steps to implement requirements of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).

Products: Product related requirements are being established, albeit at a slower pace. Non-compliance can result in fines, failure to pass customs, and product recalls.

Economic growth will continue throughout Africa providing opportunities for companies to expand and move operations into Africa. A company can expect African countries to strengthen EHS regulatory frameworks, which will differ from the typical U.S. and European approach.

About Enhesa - Enhesa is the leading provider of global environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance assurance support to business. Enhesa covers EHS regulatory and policy issues in 150 countries and jurisdictions.

One Needle, One Syringe, Only ONE Time

One needle, One syringe, Only ONE Time

Healthcare Coalition Launches New Training Video to halt spread of infections and address a serious public health problem

ATLANTA, May 26, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — To help healthcare workers improve patient safety, the Safe Injection Practices Coalition (SIPC) is launching a new educational video for U.S. healthcare providers that is a straight-to-the-point, 10-minute lesson on safe injection practices.

The video is targeted to healthcare providers who regularly administer or supervise injections and is about their responsibility to protect patients from healthcare-associated infections. The video is based on evidence-based and common sense safe injection practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Recent outbreaks and patient notifications show the need for continued training about unsafe injection practices.

The 10-minute video promotes safe injection practices by showing healthcare providers working in situations where injections are given. By dispelling common misperceptions, such as the belief that it is safe to administer medication from single-dose vials to multiple patients, the video discusses basic, evidence-based precautions, that must be used at all times to protect patients and prevent disease transmission due to unsafe injection practices.

“One infection due to unsafe injection practices is unacceptable,” says Dr. Michael Bell, deputy director for infection control at CDC and narrator of the video. “Every healthcare provider has the responsibility to ensure that all injections given to patients are safe, and we hope that this video will help make that happen.”

Dr. Evelyn McKnight, Au.D., president and co-founder of the Hepatitis Outbreaks National Organization for Reform (HONOReform) Foundation, and a SIPC member who is featured in the video, was battling a recurrence of breast cancer when she became one of 99 Nebraska cancer patients to be infected with hepatitis C virus because her healthcare providers reused syringes to access a shared bag of saline.

“By addressing the urgent need for education and heightened awareness about safe injection practices, we hope to avoid further tragedies,” says McKnight. “Through this and other Coalition-led educational activities, we hope to make outbreaks due to syringe reuse ‘never’ events. No patient should ever have to worry about contracting a disease while seeking medical care or treatment.”

The video is part of the One & Only Campaign, a national public health education and awareness initiative developed by the SIPC. SIPC is comprised of patient advocacy organizations, foundations, provider associations and industry partners, together with CDC, and has united to halt disease transmission caused by unsafe injection practices in United States healthcare facilities. The campaign name refers to the importance of healthcare personnel using “one needle, one syringe, only one time” to protect patients from bloodborne viruses and other pathogens.

Toll of Unsafe Injection Practices
Since 1999, more than 125,000 Americans have received letters alerting them of potential exposure to infection with hepatitis viruses or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) due to unsafe injection practices such as the reuse of syringes, according to CDC.

A lack of understanding of and adherence to safe injection practices by healthcare personnel has resulted in more than 30 outbreaks of viral hepatitis and other healthcare-associated infections in the United States since 1999. Most of these outbreaks and infections occurred in non-hospital healthcare facilities, according to CDC. A patient notification resulting from unsafe injection practices at an endoscopy clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2008 required health officials to alert more than 50,000 patients who had been potentially exposed to bloodborne viruses.

In addition to the toll on physical and emotional health, these outbreaks are costly. The patient notification, response and testing of the hepatitis C outbreak at the Las Vegas, Nevada endoscopy clinic is estimated to have cost between $16 million and $21 million.

The video can be viewed at the One & Only Campaign Web site, www.oneandonlycampaign.org.

About the Safe Injection Practices Coalition
Founded in June 2008, the Safe Injection Practices Coalition is comprised of patient advocacy organizations, foundations, provider associations, industry partners and CDC, and united to halt unsafe injection practices. The Coalition focuses its efforts on advancing and promoting safe injection practices by informing and educating healthcare professionals and the public, especially in outpatient settings. Issues of particular concern include the reuse of syringes and misuse of single-use and multi-dose vials. In addition to creating and distributing the Safe Injection Practices Video for Healthcare Providers, the Coalition has launched pilot campaigns promoting safe injection practices in Nevada and New York, two states in which disease outbreaks have occurred.

Coalition partners include the following organizations: Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), Ambulatory Surgery Foundation, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC), BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CDC Foundation, Covidien, Hospira, HONOReform Foundation, National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO), Nebraska Medical Association (NMA), Nevada State Medical Association (NSMA), and Premier healthcare alliance.

New iVillage Study Reveals That Majority of Women 18-34 Go Online First With Health Questions - Before Turning to Their Doctor or Other Family Members

New iVillage Study Reveals That Majority of Women 18-34 Go Online First With Health Questions - Before Turning to Their Doctor or Other Family Members

82% of Women Say They Are Uncomfortable Discussing Health Concerns With Friends and Family

NEW YORK, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- iVillage today announced the results of a new online survey conducted in February on its behalf by Harris Interactive®, which illustrates how heavily online women(1) rely on the Internet as a health resource - before turning to a family member or visiting a doctor. The survey findings were unveiled by Jennifer Barrett, Health Editor for iVillage, and coincide with the launch of iVillage.com/Health.

Anonymous peer networking and sharing common experiences is what drives women online for health matters, with 4 out of 5 (82%) saying there are reasons to feel uncomfortable when discussing health concerns or questions with friends or family members. Over half of women (59%) said that discussing health concerns with people they know can be embarrassing.
The study shows that the Internet is often women's first destination for insights and solutions for everyday health questions.
-- 62% were twice as likely to turn to a Website - over their own mothers
(32%) - with health concerns or questions that are not extremely
serious
-- 64% say they use online communities to discuss health concerns or
questions that they have not discussed with anyone else
-- 49% say online is the first place they would go to research a health
question, nearly double the number who say they would go to the doctor
first (25%), and significantly more than those who would first turn to
a family member (15%) or a friend with a similar condition/issue (6%)

"This research further demonstrates what iVillage has always known about women - they place tremendous value in the power of support from their online peers, as well as expert advice, to resolve the many demands they face," said Barrett. "One of the keys to living a healthier life is to be a more educated, informed patient. iVillage Health will be an invaluable resource to women in that respect," said Barrett.
The study also highlights how online health resources play a key role in educating patients prior to seeing a physician, with 30% of women saying that online community support allows them to better prepare for a doctor's visit.

Moms are the key decision-makers in managing the health needs of their families, and Web-based resources are more important than ever for this busy group of women. The study reveals that moms are more likely to turn to a Website with health concerns or questions that are not extremely serious than they are to turn to their own spouse (64% vs. 41% respectively), with more than half (53%) having discussed a health issue with an online peer.

Survey shows Americans want to improve health but easily find excuses

Survey shows Americans want to improve health but easily find excuses

American Heart Association introduces free social media application to help keep commitment

DALLAS (January 4, 2010)/PRNewswire/ — Although 58 percent of American adults have resolved to make improvements in their health this year, more than half say they often find reasons not to exercise, according to an American Heart Association survey. Excuses range from too much stress at work to having nothing to wear to simple procrastination.

The American Heart Association's Start! initiative is introducing the Start! Daily Walking Guide, a FREE social media application that can get more Americans active and help them keep their health and physical activity resolutions. Nearly half of all Americans use online tools to track their health.

"The Start! Daily Walking Guide is the ideal tool to keep us committed to our New Year's resolutions," said Clyde Yancy, M.D., president of the American Heart Association. "We spend 164 more hours per year at work than we did 20 years ago, and for many Americans that means lots of time on computers. This application allows you to keep track of your physical activity, see progress, find accountability and get great encouragement."

The Start! Daily Walking Guide can be downloaded and embedded into a variety of sites including Facebook, Windows Live and iGoogle. Users get started with a quiz that generates 12 weeks worth of customized walking plans, a private journal section that lets users record their walks and reference archived exercises, and keep motivated with daily inspirational messages and heart-health tips.

Members can also chat with virtual "sole-mates" via the Start! Connections function. A previous Start! study revealed that American adults are 76 percent more likely to take a walk if another person is counting on them.

Heart disease and stroke are America's No. 1 and No. 3 killers, despite being largely preventable though a healthy lifestyle. Cardiovascular disease claims nearly 865,000 lives a year and physical inactivity is a major risk factor for heart disease. Physically active people reduce their cardiovascular disease risk by 30 percent. The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, like brisk walking, each week. Download the Start! Daily Walking Guide at www.startwalkingnow.org.

To view the complete survey report visit www.startwalkingnow.org.

Also available on www.startwalkingnow.org:

Customized walking programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced walkers;
Online tracking tools to document calories consumed, steps taken and walking routes;
Sole-mates social networking capabilities to find and support like-minded walkers;
A grocery list builder and archives of heart-healthy recipes;
Downloadable seasonal walking guides with tips to maintain a routine regardless of the weather; and
Start! walking videos, produced in collaboration with ExerciseTV, making an at-home workout easier with tips and motivation.
