“Morocco is a key market for us, and we are committed to bring innovative digital technologies to the country in a bid to underpin its digital transformation journey. The R-tour is a series of special events that enables us to put our consumers and fans in the driving seat, they get to test and try our products, participate in events, engage with industry professionals and more. We foresee the R-tour as a strong channel for us to get another step closer to our customers in Morocco by driving meaningful conversations across various touchpoints. As an ode to our commitment to the people in Morocco, we are also launching our best of the breed products to enable photographers and filmmakers in bringing their stories to life in the most versatile manner possible. Canon has been represented in Morocco since 2009 through distributors and partners that have successfully built a solid customer base in the country. Through the launch of its new products incorporating cutting-edge and world-class technology, Canon aims to be part of Morocco’s digital transformation journey by elevating the imaging technology sector in the country. Canon’s relentless pursuits in enhancing the local distribution network in Morocco, supported by partners as well local Canon employees in-country, has been the driving force in successfully implementing the company’s closer to customer strategy.

Interact and Engage

To further encourage interaction and engagement amongst consumers and attendees of Canon’s R-tour, the company has gone one step ahead and created experiential booths to maximize the learning opportunities. A total of five different booth set-ups will be installed at the event namely Generation R, Postproduction Set-up, Home zone, Photo studio and Outdoor Aerial act performance with each of these focusing on a particular area of interest. The Generation R booth will highlight the entire lineup of the Full frame mirrorless series along with an experiential set up to allow customers to touch and try the product. Canon’s Generation R community brings EOS R System users together with other creative photographers and experts to pursue and share their passion while exchanging knowledge. The Generation R booth will embody the spirit of this community taking it a notch higher and making the entire experience more personal with the on-ground presence.

The booth for Postproduction Set up will provide cinematographers as well as enthusiasts with a complete line-up of extraordinary products that can dramatically upscale the quality of the video content. Focusing on the essentials of a modern home, the home booth set up will put on display Canon’s stellar line of printers including the famous G-series and megatank printers. The photo studio set-up will take this display of printers a level higher by highlighting the company’s Pro 1000 and Pro 300 and Pixma 640 and other input to output solutions. On the other hand, the Outdoor Aerial Act Performance booth will provide invitees with the exclusive experience of getting their hands on Canon’s EOS R3 to test and try on the spot.

Additionally, the event will also feature a panel discussion amongst the key speakers i.e., Amine Djouahra, Lorenzo Salami and Saab Abid reflecting thoughts and opinions on the significance of content creation in today’s day and age, its contribution to the imaging industry, impact of upcoming content consumption trends on photography and products. The discussion will also touch upon the impact on business as a result of emerging content trends, changes in consumer habits of target audience along with the positive effects of driving higher engagement with consumers through cutting-edge and quality content production. Canon’s Sales and Marketing Director will also take this opportunity to detail out company’s efforts in Africa to generate awareness, education as well as growth opportunities for both business and consumers through its myriad initiatives such as Miraisha programme, Canon Academy workshops, mentorships and more.

Technology that Transforms

Canon offers a comprehensive range of input-to-output solutions, from world-renowned cameras to innovative printers and multi-function printers in Morocco. However, the R-tour will act as a springboard for the company to introduce EOS R3 and EOS R5 C in a manner where people can directly pilot the products on-site. The EOS R3 offers all the familiarity and speed of Canon’s renowned EOS-1 series, with the innovation and versatility of the pioneering EOS R System. With a brand new, innovative 24.1megapixel sensor, the EOS R3 gives an optimal balance of performance, resolution and speed to offer news and sports photographers a camera to outperform and outpace the competition. Likewise, The EOS R5 C is a powerful, hybrid cinema camera which combines the professional filmmaking features of the Cinema EOS range with the EOS R System’s photo capabilities. A high-resolution, full frame CMOS sensor, DIGIC X processor and the RF Mount, are the crucial three elements that enable high fidelity 8K capture, and 45 megapixels still photo capture at burst speeds up to 20 frames per second, all in a single body of the EOS R5 C.

Canon's R-tour in Morocco will kick off today, May 12th, 2022, in Casablanca. The company's next R-tour is scheduled to begin in Egypt on May 23rd, followed by Kenya on June 2nd, 2022, and many more to come in the upcoming months covering the wide African continent. Stay tuned!

The Coca-Cola Company Unveils New Global Brand Platform for Coca-Cola Trademark

PRESS RELEASE

The Coca-Cola Company Unveils New Global Brand Platform for Coca-Cola Trademark

The platform refreshes the brand’s trademark promise – to unite and uplift people every day – with renewed relevance for the world we live in today.

ATLANTA, United States of America, September 29, 2021/ -- Brand Introduces Real Magic, its first new global platform since 2016 and reveals the “Hug,” a new perspective on the iconic Coca-Cola (www.Coca-ColaCompany.com) logo; brand launches “One Coke Away From Each Other,” the first global campaign under the Real Magic Platform

Coca-Cola today unveiled a new global brand philosophy and platform called Real Magic, which invites everyone to celebrate the real magic of humanity.

The platform refreshes the brand’s trademark promise – to unite and uplift people every day – with renewed relevance for the world we live in today. The platform is built from lessons of the last 18 months: that we can find magic all around us when we come together in unexpected moments that elevate the everyday into the extraordinary. It also acknowledges the many contradictions experienced as new generations find harmony and human connection in a virtual and divided world.

“Coca-Cola is a brand defined by dichotomies: humble but iconic, authentic yet secret, real yet magical,” said Manolo Arroyo, Chief Marketing Officer for The Coca-Cola Company.  “The Real Magic philosophy is rooted in the belief that dichotomies can make the world a more interesting place – a world of extraordinary people, unexpected opportunities and wonderful moments. At the same time, it captures the essence of Coca-Cola itself: a real taste that is indescribable, unique, a touch of real magic.”

Coca-Cola is collaborating with artists, photographers and illustrators to bring the concept of Real Magic to life through the embrace of the Hug logo. Through their own distinct and unfiltered lenses, they will bring moments of everyday magic to life in ways that are inclusive and collective, yet also individual and expressive.  Design partners include Wieden+Kennedy London, KnownUnknown and Kenyon Weston.

“Real Magic is not simply a tagline or a one-off campaign: It is a long-term brand philosophy and belief that will drive and guide marketing and communications across the Coca-Cola Trademark,” Arroyo said.

Real Magic launches with a new campaign called “One Coke Away From Each Other.” Blending real and virtual worlds, “One Coke Away From Each Other” is a metaphor that speaks to the belief that what unites us is greater than what sets us apart and celebrates our common humanity. The film, which launched digitally on September 27th, asks what if Coca-Cola, as a symbol of togetherness, could bridge universes meant to be apart to create Real Magic. The film also features three well-known gamers – DJ Alan Walker, Team Liquid’s Aerial Powers and Average Jonas.

Coca-Cola partnered with advertising agency BETC London to create the “One Coke Away From Each Other” campaign, as well as leading film director Daniel Wolfe and gaming and CGI specialist production partner Mathematic.

The campaign also features social and digital executions, as well as out of home. In select markets, Coca-Cola is running a code hunt beginning Oct. 11 where people can win prizes, including gameplay sessions with celebrity gamers. There are 25 codes hidden within the film. Through collaboration with the Brand Partnership Studio at Twitch, the interactive livestreaming service, gaming creators on Twitch will unlock another 10 codes with their viewers, during livestreams on their Twitch channels. As a part of the campaign, Coca-Cola will award prizes to consumers who find and enter the hidden codes on a Coca-Cola micro-site, in participating countries.  Winners have the chance to receive their share of one of the largest ever prize pools of Bits, a virtual good used to show support for Twitch streamers, as a part of the sweepstakes administered by Coca-Cola.

“Through the Real Magic platform, we ultimately want to engage people very differently through an ecosystem of unique and ownable experiences,” Arroyo said. “’One Coke Away From Each Other’ has been built for, and with, a community that demands something different than what they may have come to expect from Coca-Cola. In developing this campaign, we’ve partnered with the best creators, with gamers, with Twitch and with others to find our place in a reality unlike any we’ve known before. That’s tremendously exciting.”

PRESS RELEASE

Canon gets closer to inspire creative communities across Africa

Canon Central and North Africa is inviting film and photography communities to get closer and announce collaborations with creative communities in Egypt, Kenya and Nigeria.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 16, 2021/ -- Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA) (www.Canon-CNA.com) is inviting film and photography communities across Africa to connect and collaborate. They are excited to announce the first three: SYNC School in Cairo, Egypt; Peexoo, a Nigerian photography hub, and the Photographers’ Association of Kenya (PAK). More are welcome as the global imaging leaders would like to develop creative collaborations in every country in the region.

Canon has been a long-standing supporter of film and photography education groups. These relationships can now go deeper by sharing Canon expertise, knowledge and technology, with regular masterclasses, training opportunities, photo booths and competitions.

Canon is committed to build closer ties with its customers and the collaborations are a way to inspire and enrich the next generation of image-makers. “Our mission is to empower people to see the bigger picture, on a grand yet local level,” explains Amine Djouahra, sales and marketing director for Canon Central & North Africa. “In this rapidly changing, image-based culture, we want to explore new and innovative ideas with a wider audience.”

There has been an enthusiastic response: “SYNC is a community based school of 94,000 for creatives in Egypt with photographers, filmmakers and content creators. We are thrilled to build this relationship with Canon and learn, grow and create together,” said SYNC’s founder and creative director, Mustafa Sharara.

Peexoo, a photography hub powered by artificial intelligence, brings together 2,000+ photographers and videographers from across Nigeria. “We change perceptions through film and photography,” said Peexoo Co-Founder, tech-preneur Steven Kelechi Nwadike. “We are ecstatic that Canon is joining us on this journey.”

The Professional Photographers’ Association of Kenya (PAK) is the leading photographic society in the country, representing professionals, amateurs and hobbyists. “We are proud to partner with Canon at this time, a collaboration which will uplift, inspire and encourage our photographic community,” said Victor Otieno, PAK Treasurer.

Through the collaborations, community members gain exclusive access to masterclasses with Canon ambassadors including Emmanuel Oyeleke (https://bit.ly/3xpFaOD) and Yagazi Emezi (https://bit.ly/2SHkx1A) who will present a masterclass to Peexoo members and Menna Hossam (https://bit.ly/3vvefzE) who will present “Fine art and fashion photographer: Challenges of this genre & the future of creating enchanting images in the era of social media”, to SYNC School members.

Regular competitions will be used to challenge and inspire with exciting prizes such as Canon’s mini phone-to-printer Zoemini, the portable Selphy and the G-Series printers, as well as a compact Powershot SX720 and mirrorless M50 cameras.

Hands-on ‘touch and try’ sessions with cutting-edge Canon R system technology, EOS cameras and lenses are in the plan with special, members-only discounts available on Canon equipment.

Canon’s interest in developing and recognising excellence both in amateur and professional photographers goes beyond this. The Canon Future Focus programme for students is in its fifth year and the inaugural Redline Challenge for amateur photographers received great response in entries from African region.

“We believe in enriching local creatives and welcome the opportunity to connect and support the next generation of visual storytellers. By investing expertise, technology and opportunities in them, we hope to enhance their art, skills and future careers,” said Amine Djouahra.

Is Canon Doing Anything for Women Making Movies in Nollywood?

A scene in the Nollywood blockbuster movie, "King of Boys", a political thriller by Kemi Adetiba that premièred in 2018.

#InternationalWomensMonth

#InternationalWomensDay2021

Is @Canon doing anything for women making movies in #Nollywood ?

Nollywood diva, Genevieve Nnaji, director of "Lionheart".

Most of the highest grossing Nigerian movies so far have been made by women and Canon digital cameras are the most favourable cameras of filmmakers and photographers in Nigeria. But I have not seen what Canon has done in appreciation of the outstanding women making movies in Nollywood, the largest indie film industry in Africa.

I have just read the following report on "Canon Middle East launches 'Women Who Empower' programme in the Middle East.

The initiative seeks to support women by offering them Canon's direct support to build their brand and reach wider audiences.

- By Digital Studio, Middle East Staff. 09 March 2021

On International Women's Day (IWD) 2021, Canon Middle East launched its latest programme, ‘Women who Empower’, coinciding with this year’s IWD theme #ChooseToChallenge. The theme encourages women to choose to challenge gender bias and inequality and celebrate women’s achievements as well.

The year-long programme is kicking off with a social media campaign which invites women in the creative industries in the Middle East, Central and North Africa and Turkey (META) to be a part of an initiative that enables them to showcase their creative works and be given the opportunity to take their projects forward.
