Samurai Warriors: Heroes and Villains
There are more than 100 movies on Samurai warriors, both on factual historical accounts and fictional stories.
The most popular Hollywood film on the Samurai is "The Last Samurai", the 2003 American epic period action drama directed and produced by Edward Zwick, starring Tom Cruise. I have also watched
"47 Ronin", the 2013 American historical fantasy action film directed by Carl Rinsch starring Keanu Reeves. A fictionalized account about the forty-seven rōnin in the political history of Japan which is the inspiration for my own version in a romantic drama on one of the 300 samurai ronin (masterless samurai) following the execution of their master, Lord Asano Naganori, the daimyo (regional lord) of Akō by seppuku (ritual suicide) on the orders of the Shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi for drawing a weapon within the Shogun's palace, a strictly forbidden offence and carried a death sentence.
My screenplay includes the rebellion of the 47 ronin and their execution of Kira Yoshinaka to avenge the death of Lord Asano Naganori in fulfillment of the highest creed of bushido (the samurai warrior code) through total loyalty to their lord. After they were ordered to commit suicide, I continued with what happened to the remaining 253 masterless Samurai.
