Queens of Kannywood, Rahama Sadau and Maryam Booth Entangled in "The Two Aishas" Movie
Queens of Kannywood, Rahama Sadau and Maryam Booth Entangled in "The Two Aishas" Movie
Last Sunday, I was at the cinemas to watch "The Two Aishas" starring the two leading ladies and beauty queens of #Kannywood, Rahama Sadau and Maryam Booth .
This is my first time of seeing them together in a movie.
This is the directorial debut of Hajia Shareefah Abiola Andu of Arabel Productions and Aleef TV of Arabel Nigeria Limited.
After a bitter fallout with her best friend when her husband was handed the gubernatorial ticket which was taken from her best friend’s husband, Aisha Yusuf must reconcile with her best friend and unite their husbands who are now at loggerheads.
According to director, the movie is filled with intrigues that will keep fans glued to the box office screen till the end.
‘The Two Aishas’ are women of the same Islamic faith and status who are married to two best friends. But their loyalty and friendship got tested and no matter how they looked at it, one party felt robbed and betrayed by the other, threatening to tear apart an enduring friendship from childhood and test their faith as devout Muslims.
“It addresses relatable themes such as forgiveness, betrayal, love, rivalry and piousness,” she said.
"The Two Aishas" is showing daily at all the FilmHouse Cinemas in Nigeria and Ghana, Silverbird Cinemas, Genesis Cinemas, Ozone Cinemas, Blue Pictures Cinemas, Kada Cinemas, Platinum Cinemas, Exodus Cinemas, Magnificent Cinemas and other cinemas in every state in Nigeria.

Celebrate Every Moment of Success, Triumph and Victory
Saturday evening, October 29, 2022.
Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria.
I am still rocking "The American King" promo T-shirt we made and gave out to all the moviegoers who saw the #Nollywood and #Hollywood comedy at selected cinemas during the Easter weekend in Nigeria.
I can shout HALLELUJAH!
Almighty God hears and answers prayers.
He renews my youth like the Eagles. - Psalm 103:5.
Celebrate every moment of progress, success, triumph and victory with all the thanksgivings to Almighty God.
AUTHOR AND SPEAKER JOHN STAHL-WERT SAYS IT IS IMPORTANT TO CELEBRATE MILESTONES FOR FIVE REASONS:
As humans we are called to grow. “Becoming more” is essential. We suffer when we don’t grow. Every milestone deserves notice. It is an affirmation of an accomplishment.
Growth is nourished by encouragement. Celebrate even the small steps because “small is where big comes from.” We guide others toward bigness through encouragement.
Acknowledging milestones gives us the opportunity to reflect on where we have been, where we are now and what we can learn from this part of the journey. Our growth and achievement are for the greater purpose of our service to the world. Achievement, in and of itself, doesn’t fulfill, and without reflection, we are trapped by an insatiable avarice to fill a bottomless hole.
Nothing locks in learning like a party. It signifies that the accomplishment really matters.
Celebrating milestones reminds us to give thanks for everyday moments. When we pause to celebrate something that is noteworthy, the act of slowing down invites us to notice everything else.

YouNeek Studios’ African Superhero Universe Acquired by Dark Horse Comics Receives VC Funding From Impact X Capital for Animation Development
YouNeek Studios’ African Superhero Universe Acquired by Dark Horse Comics Receives VC Funding From Impact X Capital for Animation Development
Executive Producer Doug Schwalbe Oversees Distribution of First Animated Series, “Iyanu: Child of Wonder”
Following a monumental 10-book deal with Dark Horse Comics, YouNeek Studios has secured VC investment from Impact X Capital to develop a groundbreaking animation series based on a world of superhero and fantasy stories inspired by African history and mythology. Highly regarded former senior VP of co-productions at DreamWorks, Doug Schwalbe, has joined as executive producer and will oversee distribution.
Dark Horse Comics, one of the world’s leading entertainment publishers, welcomed YouNeek and its pioneering founder Roye Okupe into its fold in January 2021 in a deal that will publish all 10 of YouNeek’s graphic novels. Okupe, a Nigerian-born rising star of the industry, is working with TV industry veteran Erica Motley, creative partner at Impact X Capital, to bring the magical series to screens worldwide, starting with ‘Iyanu: Child of Wonder,’ a classic children’s fantasy quest in the tradition of shows like ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’ More uniquely, ‘Iyanu’ features a teenaged, Black female lead whose story and world are inspired by Yoruba history, culture and folklore. An award-winning filmmaker, Okupe tells stories through the lens of extraordinary, compelling and inspirational African characters, and was just nominated for the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics, meant to honor “commitment to excellence and inclusion.”
According to Motley, “Impact X Capital is thrilled to partner with YouNeek Studios to bring its first animated series to life. With its stunning African locations, brilliant themes of unity and community, and rare focus on Black Girl Magic, ‘Iyanu’ represents our aim to create outstanding, multicultural content by exceptional, diverse talent.”
“As soon as Erica Motley brought me ‘Iyanu,’ I knew it was special,” says Schwalbe. “I’m thrilled to introduce it at the Kidscreen Summit.”
YouNeek is on a mission to bring empowering African narratives and the work of Black creatives to worldwide audiences. “This is an unprecedented time for stories inspired by African history and culture,” says Okupe. “Our mission has always been to empower African creatives and storytelling. We've done it successfully in the comic book industry and with Impact X Capital, we're excited at the opportunity to do it in the animation space, with as many people as possible creating these stories who look like the characters in them.”
YouNeek has also partnered with Forefront Media Group as well as with Triggerfish Animation Studios for ‘Iyanu.’ Triggerfish CEO Stuart Forrest says, “We fell in love with ‘Iyanu’ when we read Volume I, so we’re eager to bring our network of skilled creatives to make this show inventive, vibrant and an authentic representation of the fresh talent across the continent.”

Funke Akindele Bello Wraps Up 2020 With Grit and Gusto in "Omo Ghetto: The Saga"
This is the biggest and hottest #Nollywood action movie of the moment. And she is jumping into the New Year 2021 with pomp! I see the movie breaking the box office records of "The Wedding Party" by the Valentine's Day in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.
The public demand for "Omo Ghetto: The Saga" should make it run till March, 2021.
Funke Akindele should maximise the momentum by exploring the movie merchandising opportunities in the commercial production of "Omo Ghetto: The. Saga" T-shirts, #facemasks, face caps, bandanas, shopping bags, etcs; with a positive message that if you don't give up, "las las", you can make it from the ghetto to the top of your dreams like the most famous and richest Nigerian celebrity gossip blogger, Linda Ikeji who came from the Lagos ghetto of Mushin and now living her dreams in her own palatial mansion on Banana Island, off the foreshore of Ikoyi,, described as the most expensive residential neighbourhood in Nigeria by Forbes.
For "Omo Ghetto: The Saga", the saga has just begun!

"It is a masterpiece that showcases the ignoble sub-culture where illegal immigrants are forced to exist in the US. It chronicles the terrible and dishonorable lifestyle that these individuals live on a daily basis just to survive in the West. Added to this desperation is the incessant plea for financial assistance from families in the homeland. Not since Kafka has someone so aptly captured the depths and essence of Western existentialism and its culture of individualism."

The Story
An African medical student seeking better professional opportunity in the United States finds herself caught up in the American immigration war. With the political heat mounting on illegal immigrants, she's faced only with a dilemma: she either continues to live on the fringes of the society, where there's no hope for her career goal, or give up all hope on the American dream.
A young American puts her life on hold to restore the glory of her parents estranged marriage. After years of painful sacrifice, and amid the storm of her adolescent crises, she has to make a last shot for their reconciliation, or give up forever on her parents as she goes away to college.
What happens when the lives of these two young women cross? The result is a soul-touching friendship that tests the limits of political laws and redefines human dedication.
Rahman in glasses with Jimmy Jean-Louis with 2010 AMAA awards
About the Director:
Rahman was born in Oyo State, Nigeria, into the royal family of the kingdom once known as Oyo Empire. He started his formal education at Alaafia Nursery and Primary school at Ibadan, completed his primary education at Saint Andrews Demonstration, Oyo, and his secondary education at Olivet Baptist High School, also at Oyo. Then he made a decision to come to the United States to study film production. But as a thinker says, events sometimes mock at human foresight, and there is nothing more certain than the unforeseen. A peculiar unforeseen would be Rahman’s lot for the next decade after his decision, and which culminated in his first book, On Holy Pilgrimage: A Long Journey For Freedom. Though Rahman decided to write the book to tell his story, to awaken the world about the depth of the mysteries within which life is cocooned, the book initially served only as a therapeutic avenue for him to keep his sanity while going through one of the worst experiences any human could be subjected to. With his body tortured by a mysterious illness, and his intellect by the conflict of cultures, Western scientific and traditional African cultures, his primary motivation to write the book was his discovery of the concept of reincarnation, a complex reality without which he thinks higher understanding of life might be impossible. Confused in his world, living ‘on the lip of insanity, not knowing the reason he was made to suffer, whether by science or witchcraft or fate, Rahman discovered the human mind, the balcony from which both the inside and outside of the universe could be perceived. Spending seven years on the sick bed, this territory became his only realm of work and! play. It would transform the worldview that Rahman had ever known, and put him on the pedestal to a new height, a new way of life. Rahman now lives in Massachusetts.

African Premiere of The Invocation at 2nd Eko International Film Festival
The African premiere of Emmanuel Itier's multiple award winning movie THE INVOCATION narrated by the famous Hollywood actress Sharon Stone will be at the 2nd Eko International Film Festival (EKOIFF) on Saturday July 9, 2011, at the prestigious Silverbird Galleria, 133 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
THE INVOCATION is a thought provoking film about God and World Peace. An exploration of the notion of the Divine around the world and through Religion, Spirituality, Science, History, Politics and Arts.
It is an invitation to elevate our school of thought and to change the code of human interaction in relation to our perceptions of God. What is the global idea of ‘God’ which has presented us with countless conflicts throughout human history? How can we live in Peace?
The project was filmed around the world by a team of talented religious and non-religious filmmakers, and challenges us to go beyond our differences in seeking the common goal of world peace. Without agenda, the film presents a message of global understanding, unity, and humanity. Her colleague Alfred (ALFRED MUNYUA), in an effort to get rid of him, tells him all pupils need two pencils and an exercise book.
The next day, Maruge returns, telling Jane he wants to learn to read. He has a letter from the “Office of the President” that he wants to understand. Exasperated, she tells him the school already has too many pupils. Later that night, she tells her husband Charles (TONY KGOROGE) about Maruge. Cautious of his own position, working alongside the government in Nairobi, he advises her to fight the battles she can win.
After cutting his trousers and turning them into shorts, Maruge returns to the school again. While Jane tells the school inspector Mr. Kipruto (VUSI KUNENE)on the telephone that she currently has five children to a desk, when Maruge re-appears, she relents. Alfred is reluctant, yet Jane is defiant, claiming Kipruto is not the head of the school. Allowing Maruge into her class, she seats him near the front – after he admits his eyesight is not so good – and begins to teach him, and her other charges, how to write the alphabet.
Plagued by memories of his time in Kenya in 1953, when he fought with the Mau Mau against the British, it even impacts upon Maruge in class, when Alfred scolds him for not keeping his pencil sharp. Made to sharpen it, he breaks down as he recalls a time when the British tortured him – using a sharp pencil brutally thrust into his ear. Apologising to Jane, saying it won’t happen again, Maruge later educates his fellow pupils, patiently explains about the fight for land that he and other Mau Mau undertook and teaching them the word for ‘freedom’.
Resentment brews over Maruge’s education. At home, people shout that he should stay away from the school, while in the playground, covert photographs are taken of him. Soon enough, the story that an old man is going to school hits the radio airwaves. Kipruto arrives, furious that he has learnt in the press that Maruge is attending his school. Jane tells him that Maruge fought against the British. She later learns from Maruge that the same soldiers killed his family.
Desperate to keep Maruge in school, Jane calls Charles, but he advises her not to go over Kipruto’s head. She wilfully ignores him, visiting the head of the education board to plead Maruge’s case. Her protests fall on deaf ears and Maruge is made to attend an adult education centre, where he soon finds himself surrounded by people with no ambitions to learn. He goes to see Jane, telling her he must learn to read because he wants to be able to understand the letter he’s been sent. Refusing to go back to the adult education centre, Maruge nevertheless must say his goodbyes to the children. Yet Jane offers him a reprieve – as her teaching assistant.
As the story breaks, the press descends on the school, surrounding Jane and wanting to question Maruge. He tells the reporters that the power is in the pen.
Nevertheless, his presence in the school is beginning to cause anger amongst the parents of the young pupils. One mother confront Jane, accusing her of seeking fame and fortune from all the attention, while another father proclaims to Alfred that the school is spending too much time on Maruge. Again, Kipruto arrives with the school in chaos, telling Jane that her special pupil cannot stay and that plans are afoot for the government to compensate the Mau Mau.
Resolute, Jane decides to teach Maruge to read after school has finished – despite receiving threatening phone calls. A delegation of politicians arrive at the school, keen to cash in on the free publicity surrounding Maruge, while secretly demanding that Jane cut them in on any money she has received. Events begin to spiral - people attack the school with sticks while Charles receives an anonymous telephone call, noting his wife is now out of control. Jane soon receives a letter that she is to be transferred to a school 300 miles away. Charles tells her that events surrounding Maruge are tearing them apart, explaining that he’s received calls claiming she has been unfaithful.
Jane explains to Maruge that she is being transferred, and then undertakes an emotional goodbye to the children, who all bring her gifts. Meanwhile, Kipruto introduces the class’ new teacher. Enraged, the children padlock the school gate and throw missiles at her and Kipruto. Meanwhile, Maruge travels to Nairobi, heading to the Ministry of Education, where he confronts the board on behalf of Jane, showing them the scars he sustained as a young man tortured by the British.
Jane returns to the school, where Maruge is there to welcome her back. He wants her to read to him his letter, which explains he will be compensated for his time in the prison camps. As the film draws to a close, the radio DJ announces that Maruge – the Guinness Book of Records holder for the oldest person to go to primary school – will speak at the United Nations.
