Self Portrait Photography for Art Therapy for Catharsis During Human Crisis.

I have not really liked Selfies until quarantine life became normal during the long #lockdown for the control and prevention of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Being in self isolation and adhering to the order for social distancing only compelled me to use my self portraits of facial expressions for non verbal communication. And it has been an amazing experience so far.

You can use self portraits to overcome anxieties, depressions and loneliness by having a positive attitude towards life with optimism.
The therapeutic benefits of Art have not been explored in medical practice in Nigeria.

I was engaged in Art sessions for children with Down  syndrome in the Education Unit of the National Museum in Onikan on the Lagos Island and the Art lessons improved their IQ. Art Therapy can also help children with autism.

Art Therapy can be used in psychotherapy for victims of rape or domestic violence to overcome their stigma and trauma. I used it in my short fiction, "Hysterics" on how a psychiatrist cured a woman who became insane after she was raped.  It is a psychological thriller on how à priest fled from her insanity when she accused him of raping her. But the psychiatrist used love to heal her wounded soul.

I have hundreds of self portraits taken with my smartphone showing how I look on different days of different weeks of the different months; from before the #lockdown to the periods of the full and half lockdown and the end of the lockdown in Lagos city of Nigeria.
