The Most Popular Film Stills From A Nigerian Film and TV Production

The most popular stills in circulation from a Nigerian film or TV  production are from the second phase of the principal photography of my documentary film, "Lagos in Motion" in 2016.

I published the photo book of the stills.currently distributed by Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other booksellers.

View the NFTs exclusively on the Algorand blockchain
https://nftmyimage.com/@nigeriadaily
NFTs last longer than photos, videos and films that are not on the blockchain.

The NFTs will be in the decentralized InterPlanetary File System.

The pictures show beautiful #Nollywood actress, model and beauty pageant Queen, Celina Ideh and other people in "Lagos in Motion" in the Toyota SUV as I was recording whilst the vehicle was moving us to another location in Lagos, Africa's largest megacity; on the Lekki- Ikoyi Link Bridge, Elegushi Beach, new Tejuosho Market and Onike in Yaba.

Film stills are very important in film studies.

Stills are essentially photographs taken on the set or during the production of a movie. They serve as a visual representation of the film, capturing key moments, characters, and set designs. These images are commonly used for promotional purposes, including posters, press kits, and marketing materials. And they are also used by scholars and students of film studies.

IDG 2023 : Save Our Girls in Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, Nigeria and the Rest of the World

Today, we cannot celebrate the annual United Nations' International Day of the Girl Child with joy, because of the murder of innocent girls in Israel and Gaza since Saturday, October 7, 2023 when the Hamas terrorists attacked Israel in broad daylight and murdered hundreds of innocent people, including children and women.

The video of one of the Israeli girls murdered by Hamas is what Nigerians Report Online is showing today, because we cannot celebrate when fathers and mothers are mourning the murder of their innocent daughters.

The theme of the International Day of the Girl 2023  is "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being."

This can only be possible if we can guarantee the safety and security of girls in the world.

Girls are still being kidnapped, raped and held as captives by the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in northern Nigeria and by ISIS in the Middle East.

We support every effort to save all girls in location of conflicts; in Israel, Palestine, Ukraine, Nigeria, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, the Americas and the rest of the world.

Let us pray for all the girls who cannot celebrate the annual International Day of the Girl Child today.

Lagos State Government To Build A Film City in Epe

What is a Film City?

Film City means an integrated studio complex spread over a minimum of ten acres area that provides the physical facilities required for film making, including providing the flexibility to use the outdoor spaces for shooting purposes. It may be used as a popular tourist spot, recreation centre featuring many natural & artificial attractions including gardens, landscapes, amusement parks, statues, miniatures, streets, hotels, restaurants, Art Gallery, Museum, Hospital and shopping destinations. It may also include the development of peripheral infrastructure such as hotels, food & beverage establishments and retail areas including merchandise stalls to diversify the revenue composition;(xxxviii) “Food Processing Sector” means a sector comprising enterprises engaged in such manufacturing processes in which raw product of agriculture, animal husbandry or fisheries is transformed to make it edible for human consumption;(xxxix) “Gems & Jewellery Sector” means a sector comprising enterprises engaged in manufacturing of handmade or machine-made jewellery or other articles of gold, silver and other precious or base metal clad with precious metals or precious or semi-precious stones, or combinations of precious metal and precious or semi- precious stones or other materials;(xl) “Government” means Government of Rajasthan (xli) “Green Building Measures” means process or technology adopted to obtain green rating under Indian Green Building Council;(xlii) “Half-Way-Home” means the establishment registered with any Government Department for the purpose and having facilities of temporary stay for patients who have been discharged from a hospital but frequent consultancy of doctor is required for providing the patients with a safe shelter and rehabilitation;(xliii) “Handicraft Sector” means a sector comprising enterprises engaged in such manufacturing of items or products in which products are produced predominantly by hand with or without mechanical or electrical or other assistance and graced with visual appeal in the nature of ornamentation or in-lay work or some similar work lending it an element of artistic improvement. Such ornamentation must be of a substantial nature and not a mere pretence;(xliv) “Hilly Area” means an area which is notified as such by the State Government in the Finance Department by an order;(xlv) “Industrial Gases Sector” means a sector comprising enterprises engaged in manufacturing of gases for use in industries, excluding poisonous"

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated that the Lagos State government will build a large scale Africam film city of 100 hectares in Epe at the cost of US$100 million. He told the guests and the news media as he hosted the programme announcement for the 12th annual Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Lagos State House on the Marina.

Ms. Chioma Ude, the Founder and Executive Director of AFRIFF commended the laudable visionary leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu in the capacity development of Nollywood and the Nigerian film industry.

Lagos is the capital of Nollywood and the entertainment industry in Nigeria, the biggest contributor to making Nollywood the largest film industry in Africa and among the fastest growing film industries in the world.

A report from PwC projects that the fast-growing industry will generate $14.8 billion revenue in 2025. The industry revenue is expected to rise from $7.7 billion in 2021 to $9 billion in 2022, $10.7 billion in 2023, $12.6 billion in 2024 and $14.8 billion in 2025. 85% of this revenue will be generated by access to the Internet.

According to PwC’s Global Entertainment and Media Outlook (2020-2024), Nigeria’s media and entertainment industry is one of the fastest growing creative industries in the world. It has the capability to become the country’s greatest export, with projected annual growth rate of 8.6% and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.3% from 2018-2023.

The Multixept Associates Limited is already building a film city in Epe.

US$100 Million Cannot Build a Film City

US$100 Million is a good investment to kickstart the building of a film city in Lagos by the Lagos State government. But that amount cannot even build a film village.
Lagos State government can start with a feasibility study and a budget of $5 Billion.

The best case study is Hollywood. And another good example is the Mumbai Film City; officially Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, an integrated film studio complex situated near Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Goregaon East, Mumbai. It has several recording rooms, gardens, lakes, theatres and grounds that serve as the venue of many Bollywood and Marathi films. It was built in 1977 by the state government to provide facilities and concessions to the film industry.

Lagos State government can call the film city in Epe, EKO FILM CITY.

A film city must have a state of the art high tech film studios, world class hotels and cinemas.
One single world class hotel will cost more than S100 million.
The construction of the main access road will cost more than US$100 million for a 21st century film city.
It must be a smart city with IoT.

Private partnership investors will be required by the Lagos State government.
it is best to have a stakeholders forum with local and international investors in the multibillion dollar Nigerian Entertainment Industry, including banks, insurance companies, construction companies and realtors.

Mozambique’s President Nyusi Joins Namibian, Ugandan, Senegalese Presidents, Nigerian Former President at African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 to Discuss Africa’s Sustainable Future

PRESS RELEASE
Mozambique’s President Nyusi Joins Namibian, Ugandan, Senegalese Presidents, Nigerian Former President at African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 to Discuss Africa’s Sustainable Future
Marking his return to the African Energy Week conference in Cape Town, Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi will once again address delegates at the important gathering, engaging with the respective Presidents of Namibia, Uganda and Senegal and the former President of Nigeria as they chart a pathway towards a sustainable energy future

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, October 8, 2023/ -- Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi has been at the forefront of a series of industry-advancing developments in the country. Under his leadership, the country has seen noteworthy success across its energy sector, with a strong slate of foreign companies driving several large-scale projects in close collaboration with the National Oil Company Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH). Under efforts to drive the southern African region into a new era of security, President Nyusi continues to showcase resilience and a commitment to a just and inclusive energy transition in Africa.

In line with the event mandate to make energy poverty history by 2030, the African Energy Chamber (AEC) is proud to announce that President Nyusi will once again address delegates at the African Energy Week (AEW) conference in Cape Town. Taking place from October 16-20, President Nyusi’s address marks his return to this highly important event. President Nyusi joins regional Presidents in Cape Town to discuss the pathway towards a sustainable and secure energy future in Africa, including Senegalese President Macky Sall; Namibian President Hage Geingob; Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni; and Nigeria’s former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Mozambique stands at the intersection of Africa’s energy security and transition agenda, serving as a strong example of how natural gas can accelerate both accessibility and sustainability goals. The country already represents a major green energy producer, with projects such as the 2,075 MW Cabora Bassa Hydropower project providing power to the regional community. In tandem with renewable expansion plans – the country is targeting a wave of solar, hydro and power investments – Mozambique is advancing its oil and gas developments with the aim of electrifying and growing the southern African economy.

The country has been monetizing onshore gas from the Pande and Temane fields for several years, with South Africa’s Sasol importing via the ROMPCO pipeline. Offshore, major projects are making headway, all of which are poised to transform the country. These include the $20 billion TotalEnergies-led Mozambique Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), with a capacity of 43 million tons per annum (mtpa); the ExxonMobil-led Rovuma Area 4 LNG Trains 1 & 2, with a capacity of 18 mtpa; and the Eni-led Coral Sul Floating LNG project, with a capacity of 3.4 mtpa. Coral Sul achieved first LNG export in late 2022, marking a major milestone for the country.

These billion-dollar initiatives have showcased the potential for large-scale offshore investments, and with most of the country’s resources largely untapped, opportunities for E&P players remain prevalent. Mozambique’s proven natural gas resources are measured at 100 trillion cubic feet (tcf), with proven plays across both onshore and offshore acreage. Other energy companies such as Galp, Shell, Kogas and more are active in the country, but opportunities continue to grow for both regional and international firms. On the oil side, the untapped oil-rich basins of Angoche and Zambezi have enticed the participation of players such as Eni, Sasol, Delonex Energy and ExxonMobil, and yet further opportunities lie awaiting investment. Strategically located in close proximity to high-demand regional markets as well as international consumers, the country’s gas resources will remain of central value for years to come.

President Nyusi believes that Mozambican energy will be instrumental for making energy poverty history in southern Africa. Speaking during last year’s edition of the conference, President Nyusi stated that, “the suffocation that Africa is facing is not due to a lack of resources. Africa is home to 850 tcf of gas in addition to other resources which can play an important role in addressing energy poverty. It is critical to continue reforming the regulatory environment in order to attract more investment.”

“President Nyusi has been at the helm of some of Africa’s biggest natural gas developments,” stated NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC. “While faced with challenges regarding project developments, President Nyusi has shown dedication to engaging with both foreign companies and local communities under efforts to advance energy projects and unlock the full potential of Mozambique’s offshore gas resources. As Africa moves to advance a just and inclusive energy transition, Mozambique’s resources and leaders such as President Nyusi will be of strategic importance.”

AEW 2023 features the most comprehensive lineup of African energy and petroleum ministers as well as Presidents, all of whom have joined the conference with the objective of alleviating energy poverty and industrializing the continent. Centered on signing deals and advancing dialogue around Africa’s position in global energy affairs, AEW 2023 serves as a form of prelude to COP28 discussions about Africa’s energy transition. Leading this dialogue will be President Nyusi among other regional government heads. Join the AEW 2023 conference and take part in the discussions about Africa’s energy renaissance.

BEIJING, China, October 6, 2023/ -- Amidst the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China Media Group (CMG) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China jointly produced The Beauty of Shared Arts, a grand TV program focusing on international cultural exchanges, to showcase the charm of diverse cultures and promote their exchanges. Themed around the Cultural Silk Road, this program welcomes guests from BRI members and offers a panoramic view of cultural interplay, open collaboration, and interaction among diverse cultures through the BRI. Featuring artists in China and beyond, The Beauty of Shared Arts presents viewers with refreshing contents, including singing, dancing, theatrical performances, and acrobatics to showcase the profound fusion of different cultures, as the BRI builds a modern Silk Road for the shared benefit of countries around the world. The program premiered on October 5 at about 8:00 PM on CCTV-1 (https://www.CCTV.com/) and was simultaneously broadcast on online media platforms such as Yangshipin.cn and CCTV.com.

With concerted efforts from member countries, the BRI has yielded fruitful results over the past decade, as it has promoted public well-being and fostered cultural dialogues among BRI members. Following the initiative’s footsteps, The Beauty of Shared Arts shot VCRs and held interviews around the world to fully capture the BRI’s vision: We advocate respect for the diversity of civilizations, the common values of humanity, the importance of inheritance and innovation of civilizations, and robust international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.

In one episode, the program introduced viewers to the touching mentorship between Chinese train conductor Dai Rui and her Laotian counterpart Tong Kangmi on the China-Laos railway. During the episode, the two conductors sang One Belt One Road, together with Laotian singer Atisal Ratana and Hong Kong actor/singer WONG Cho-lam. From the story of joint BRI contribution to the artistic performances on stage, The Beauty of Shared Arts transcends national boundaries to present direct dialogues between different cultures and arts. For instance, through their shared love for the blue and white porcelain, Director of the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Institute WANG Yanjun and famous Turkish artist Adil Can Güven struck an immediate connection on the program. Through innovative stage collaboration between the Turkish Fire of Anatolia Dance Troupe and Chinese dancers for the New Blue and White Porcelain, the program vividly illustrated the artistic charm of the distinct yet harmonious cultures of China and Türkiye, generating fresh cultural dynamics through mutual exchange.

The program offers many other highlights: Serbian singer Slobodan Trkulja and Chinese singer SHA Baoliang creatively adapted the classic song Bella Ciao/Goodbye My Friends; celebrated pianist LANG Lang engaged in a musical dialogue with Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen on the same stage. Africa’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Progress Uneven, Requires Accelerated Efforts To Meet the 2030 Deadline - ReportD

PRESS RELEASE

Africa’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Progress Uneven, Requires Accelerated Efforts To Meet the 2030 Deadline - Report

The report assessed Africa’s progress in implementing five main SDGs, highlighting progress, the challenges, and the numerous opportunities for improving Africa’s development prospects.

NEW YORK, United States of America, October 4, 2023/ -- Africa’s progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 aspirations has been uneven, with significant differences among subregions, countries, and rural and urban areas. This calls for accelerated efforts to ensure that Africa achieves the global goals by the 2030 deadline, the latest Africa Sustainable Development report has stated.

The 2023 report, titled “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and African Union Agenda 2063 at all levels”, was released on the margins of the 78th United Nations General Assembly. It was produced by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and the African Development Bank.

The report assessed Africa’s progress in implementing five main SDGs, highlighting progress, the challenges, and the numerous opportunities for improving Africa’s development prospects. Its findings suggest steady progress on key SDG targets, particularly on 4G mobile network coverage, and access to potable water and electricity.

“Africa’s steady progress on the SDGs is commendable. It is heartening to learn that the continent is on track to achieving some targets, particularly the goals related to innovation and technology, which are powerful enablers for advancing sustainable development,” noted Ms Ahunna Eziakonwa, Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa, UNDP.

The report warns that although Africa is progressing toward achieving the SDGs, the number of on-track targets is less than those requiring acceleration or reversal. It calls for timely interventions to accelerate countries’ progress on key SDGs and the Agenda 2063 aspirations, goals, and targets.

António Pedro, Acting Executive Secretary of ECA, stated: “Africa must create green growth by adding value to its green minerals. This green growth through green minerals must be central to Africa's SDG rescue strategy. Africa also needs scaled-up concessional financing to regain momentum on the SDGs and the Agenda 2063.”

Albert M. Muchanga, Commissioner for Trade and Industry of the African Union Commission, called for improved communication between parties working on Africa’s sustainable development. “The time has come for the Agenda 2063, the 2030 Agenda, and the African Development Bank’s ‘High 5’ (https://apo-opa.info/3OiFCJL) agenda to be aligned to make it easier for member states to domesticate,” he reiterated.

Gerald Esambe Njume, Principal Climate Change and Green Growth Officer at the African Development Bank said: “Harnessing Africa’s green growth opportunities requires significant efforts in putting forward a strategic vision and governance structure, ensuring sectoral planning, allocating adequate budgetary resources, and establishing sound institutional and coordination arrangements.”

Key findings

On SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), African countries have improved access to safely managed drinking water services, but a significant disparity remains between rural and urban areas. Three in five Africans, or 411 million people, still lack safely managed drinking water. Also, only Egypt and Tunisia out of the 48 countries assessed are on track to achieve universal basic sanitation by 2030. The report calls on African countries to invest in water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure and to strengthen integrated water resource management capacity.

On affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), the report finds that electrification rates have increased, but the use of clean cooking fuels and technologies remains limited. Also, the shift from non-renewable to renewable energy is slow. The report calls for funding increases for infrastructure and technology to boost sustainable power generation across Africa.

For innovation, industry, and infrastructure (SDG 9), the report reveals that Africa is on track in terms of its mobile network coverage, and based on current trends, the continent will meet the relevant Goal 9 target by 2030. The report, therefore, calls for the acceleration of rural road construction and expansion to achieve rural connectivity and regional integration to bridge the urban-rural divide. According to the report, this will advance intra-African trade and thus facilitate the full implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

Regarding sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), the report’s findings suggest a modest overall decline in the share of Africans living in urban slums. It recommends greater investment in infrastructure to improve access to public transport, waste management and air quality in African cities.

Concerning partnerships (SDG 17), mobilizing funding remains challenging for African countries. The report calls for higher domestic resource mobilization and efforts to address debt vulnerabilities.
