20-year-old Ghanaian Diva Makes History in ₤5 million Record Deal

Ghanaian born Jeanette Akua Yeboah-Mensah, popularly known as Zena has signed a five million pound deal with Invincible Records making her the first African artist to sign up with the record label which launched the Urban Music Awards (UMA) in 2003.
UMA has worked with honoured artists such as Beyonce, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, to name a few.

Invincible/UMA CEO Jordan Kensington signed the 20 year old singer to a five-year album deal with one of the world’s biggest music organizations, making Zena one of the most bankable young singers in the world.
Zena said she has always been ridiculed by her siblings for being a professional auditionee.

“I am still in shock, but I am so thankful and blessed to have been given this opportunity to represent Africa globally. It’s been a journey, but I believe you can achieve anything with faith, determination and belief in God,” she said excitedly.

“A friend of mine organized a meeting with me and Mr Kensington at the UMA buildings.
“I wasn’t aware that he had seen my clips, so I was nervous. I performed 14 songs for him and it was intense. The meeting lasted almost five hours,” she said.
“Jordan kept a straight face the whole time so I thought he wasn’t interested.
“At the end of the showcase he had this smirk on his face and said ‘You’re going to be a huge star’.
“He signed me on the spot and the rest is history.”

Jordan Kensington said: "I instinctively knew Zena was destined to become a global superstar but what made me more certain was her versatile talent, faith, believe, and tenacity in pursing her ambition. I have always known that Africa has some very talented musicians who if given a global platform will exceed to become household names worldwide and inspire many to see a much more bright, vibrant and successful side to Africa. Zena, is one artist who is set on becoming a global superstar and an ambassador to Africa worldwide”.

Zena was born in East London and moved to Johannesburg at the age of eight.

Global Hotel Prices Rise in all Regions

Global Hotel Prices Rise in all Regions

LONDON, September 4, 2012/PRNewswire/ --

Recovery in the hospitality sector gathered speed with a 4% increase in the

first half of 2012 but average prices remain at 2005 level, says new Hotels.com

[http://hotels.com ] Hotel Price Index

For the first time in five years, travellers paid more on average for their hotel rooms during the first six months of 2012 in all parts of the world, according to the latest Hotels.com [http://hotels.com ](R) Hotel Price Index[TM] (HPI(R)). The global 4% rise, compared to the same period the year before, demonstrated that the economic recovery in the hotel industry was well-established.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120628/540164 )

The Index stood at 108 for this period meaning that, despite the latest increase, hotel prices in general were still considerably lower than in the first half of 2007 when the HPI was at its peak of 119.

Launched in 2004, the HPI looks at prices that people actually paid for their hotel rooms around the world. During the first six months of 2012, prices rose across the board with Pacific rates up 6%, North America up 5% and Asia up 4% while Latin America as well as Europe and the Middle East experienced a slower trajectory, up 1%.

David Roche, President, Hotels.com, said: "The hotel industry bounced back in the first half of this year from a number of natural and political crises in 2011 and it is encouraging to see growth in the sector. While initially it may not seem good news for consumers, hotel prices are still only around their 2005 level, representing great value for travellers when both wages and other prices have risen considerably."

Following the turmoil of the Arab Spring in early 2011, confidence returned to much of the Middle East and North Africa and hotel prices rose accordingly.

The same was true in Asia as the Japanese began to travel again after the turbulence of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in March 2011 but there were other factors at play here as well. The significant increase in the number of Chinese international travellers helped to drive rates higher and expansion by the region's low cost carriers, such as Peach Aviation and Scoot, also boosted travel.

In the US, increasing business travel combined with higher consumer spending meant hotels were busier with less need for discounting. In the Pacific, the resources boom in Australia meant that space was at a premium, particularly in Western Australia with international business visitors vying with mining executives for rooms.

Although rates rose as a whole in Europe, the results showed a mixed picture. One of the areas where prices dropped was in parts of the Eurozone where falling consumer confidence and spending power led to lower occupancy in the major cities and holiday hotspots.

David Roche said: "The first six months of 2012 have proved a promising start for most hotels. However, the second half of the year, with increasingly mixed economic signals, will be interesting to watch. What our regular Hotel Price Index gives consumers is a good guide as to where they can make the most of their travel budget, no matter what outside influences are impacting prices."

ALL-NEW RANGE ROVER REVEALED AT THE ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL, RICHMOND PARK

All-new Range Rover revealed to an international audience of celebrities, business leaders, sports stars and royalty
World’s most capable and luxurious SUV
Step change improvements in sustainability with a 420kg weight saving and plans for hybrid model announced
Surprise performance by Dire Straits founder Mark Knopflerr
Guests included Zara Phillips, Victoria Pendleton, Yasmin Le Bon, Jessica Schwarz, David Gandy, Julian McDonald, Alex James, Jimmy Carr

LONDON, 7 September 2012, PRNewswire - : Last night, in the quintessentially British setting of the Royal Ballet School in Richmond Park, Land Rover revealed the All-New Range Rover, the fourth generation of the world’s most capable and luxurious SUV.

The international audience, including leaders from business, film, television and sport gathered to witness a dramatic dynamic reveal and celebrate one of the world’s most iconic vehicles. Many of the guests, from Olympic medallists to royalty, were long-standing Range Rover owners and enthusiasts keen to get the first view of the All-New Range Rover in the metal.

In front of a packed house, the All-New Range Rover was unveiled in spectacular style and demonstrated its world-class capabilities by wading through a water pool that was almost a metre deep and gracefully climbing a rocky causeway before coming to a stop in front of White Lodge – a formal royal residence and home to the Royal Ballet School.

The dramatic reveal culminated in a surprise seven-song performance by long-term Range Rover driver and former Dire Straits founder, Mark Knopfler. Classics including, ‘Sultans of Swing’ and ‘Money for Nothing’ rocked the grounds of Richmond Park and guests including Mike Tindall, Martin Johnson, Holly Vallance, Nick Candy, Karen Brady, Theo Paphitis, Nick Love, Kenny Logan partied the night away.

The all-new Range Rover has been developed from the ground up to provide the ultimate luxury SUV. It is the world’s first SUV to have a lightweight all-aluminium body and is 20% lighter than the outgoing model with a weight saving of 420kg.

The lighter body structure has driven a dramatic 22 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, achieving figures of 37.7mpg and 196g/km respectively.

Land Rover also used the event to announce plans for a hybrid Range Rover – the world’s first fully capable SUV. The state-of-the-art high-efficiency diesel hybrid model, which is planned for production late in 2013, will see step changes in Range Rover’s environmental credentials and will target Co2 emissions of less than 169g/km.

John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director said during the evening; “The Range Rover is a British icon and the all-new model revealed this evening has set the benchmark for luxury in SUVs. It is quieter, smoother and lighter than any vehicle in its class.”

Edwards continued; “Like the Royal Ballet School, Land Rover is quintessentially British and has been setting world standards in performance and capability for many years. We wanted to launch the All-New Range Rover in the UK and White Lodge was the perfect venue.”

Order books for the All-New Range Rover are now officially open with prices in the UK starting at £71,295 for a Vogue TdV6, rising to £98,395 for a the Supercharged Autobiography model.

The All-New Range Rover is designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK and will be exported to over 170 global markets. Over £370million has been invested in the Solihull manufacturing plant to create a state-of-the art, aerospace inspired, aluminium body shop – the largest of its kind in the world.

Banksy on Advertising: People Are Taking the Piss Out of You Everyday

People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you.
You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity.

Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.
You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don’t owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission, don’t even start asking for theirs.

1 John 4

New King James Version (NKJV)
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that[a] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Knowing God Through Love

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Seeing God Through Love

12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

The Consummation of Love

17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him[b] because He first loved us.

Obedience by Faith

20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can[c] he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Suicide Rate On The Rise Since The Election Of President Goodluck Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria says he is the most criticized president in the world.

More Nigerians have been committing suicide since President Goodluck Jonathan was elected and the Leadership newspapers published a report with a long list of the victims of suicide since May 2011 to date.

Over 33.5million Nigerians are unemployed according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

A Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, Ebonyi State University, Mr. Ronald Oginyi observed that suicide was on the rise in Nigeria.

He said: "In contemporary times, things that we are not used to in Nigeria are beginning to happen and even at a very fast rate.

Today there is preponderance of suicide in the country, as against what used to be in the past. In the past, suicide was very rare but today it is almost a daily occurrence.

"The factors responsible for this are many. In Nigeria today, research studies suggest that there is high incidence of joblessness, hopelessness, bleak future and loss of meaning individuals attach to themselves. When an individual feels that he has lost meaning, that he cannot achieve anything, that he has failed woefully, then the individual begins to see a situation whereby it is better for him to take his own life.

"So, wide scale unemployment and poverty are fuelling suicide in the country, as individuals continue to lack the means of keeping themselves afloat.

The university don continued: "Secondly, some religions propagate the concept of martyr in the cause of the faiths. They say if you die for the faith, you will go to heaven. Individuals who acquire such norm, such belief, such tenets by way of religious inclination might try to actualise what they have been taught. In previous years or decades ago, suicide bombing was an anathema in Nigeria but today it is rampant and used as a weapon of war."

http://allafrica.com/stories/201209080445.html

Thousands of Nigerians have been killed in ethnic-religious conflicts in the Middle Belt and northern states under the siege of the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic terrorists and marauding Hausa Fulani herdsmen trespassing farmlands of their host communities, armed robbers, kidnappers and militants on the prowl in the southwestern and southeastern-south southern states with collapsing manufacturing industries leaving millions of Nigerians jobless.

Why Nigerian Guys Now Bluff And Disrespect Nigerian Girlfriends

One of the desperate Nigerian girls on the prowl for whom to devour. Photo Credit: Everywhere Nigeria.

It is no cheering news that having a Nigerian girlfriend or even Nigerian wife is no longer something to be proud of these days, except you simply close your eyes and do so for love. Because, Nigerian girls and women have so debased themselves in their desperation for fame and fortune that they have lost their respect.
Nigerian guys now generalize Nigerian girls and women as cheap whores.

The shameless acts of Nigerian girls and women are all over the internet and it can be really disheartening to see what they do to insult womanhood and motherhood.

Nigerian girls are the ones dancing half naked for fully clothed Nigerian guys in music videos.
Nigerian girls are the ones caught and stripped naked for stealing phones and even stealing underwear!
Nigerian girls and women are the ones sending their nude photographs to boys and men showing their private parts like goods being displayed for sale.
Nigerian girls are not ashamed to strip themselves naked while fighting over Nigerian guys.
Nigerian girls are not ashamed to go out without underwear.

You see a Nigerian girl using an expensive smart phone of about N80, 000, but her poor mother goes about in torn and worn wrapper selling fruits by the roadside to make ends meet for her poor family that often go to bed still hungry.
N80, 000 is enough to buy bags of rice and beans to feed their starving family for months.
But the shameless "big girl" would rather die than give up her expensive phone, because she needs it to impress her peers and again for her call girl business, pinging her customers and pimps all over Nigeria.

The X-Rated photos of What Desperate Nigerian Girls Do for Fame and Fortune cannot be posted here, but can be seen on http://kissesandroses.blogspot.com/2012/09/what-desperate-nigerian-girls-do-for.html for ADULTS ONLY.

The shameless Nigerian girls did not even cover their faces!

Lest we forget these shameless Nigerian girls are the future wives and mothers of the children of the Nigerian men who would end up with them as their husbands and fathers of their innocent children.

Imagine being married to one of the girls in the rogue gallery of shameless Nigerian girls in the nude.
How would the husband walk tall with her at public functions and special occasions when copies of her sex tape or nude pictures are all over the internet?

Why should any reasonable girl allow any boyfriend or man-friend to take nude pictures of her that he would later post on the internet or share among his buddies like a buddy showed me the nude pictures of a pretty and sexy Nigerian girl he had just slept with and she actually posed with her legs spread wide apart for his camera phone!
Then she later returned to her "real" boyfriend.
And tomorrow she would be the Mrs of one man?

They would have fared better going nude for Playboy magazine or in porn movies than to be disgraced for their despicable acts of ignominy.

May God help us all.
