Awo: The Best and Greatest Nigerian Political Leader Never Became President

Awo: The Best and Greatest Nigerian Political Leader Never Became President

Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo, GCFR (6 March 1909 – 9 May 1987)

,the best and greatest Nigerian political leader in the history of modern Nigeria never became the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The legacies of his outstanding visionary leadership are still manifested in Western Nigeria.

He was the first Leader of Government Business and Minister of Local Government and Finance, and first Premier of the Western Region under Nigeria's parliamentary system, from 1952 to 1959. And he is recognized as one of the Founding Fathers of the nation for his key role in Nigeria's independence movement (1957-1960).

You don't need to become the President of Nigeria to be a great nation builder.

JAZZHOLE, Me and PLATO's Republic

 JAZZHOLE, Me and PLATO's Republic

Last Wednesday, August 2, 2023, I went to JAZZHOLE, the largest bookstore for the Nigerian intelligentsia located on the Awolowo Road in Ikoyi on Lagos Island of Nigeria.

I often go there to visit Olakunle Tejuosho, the Co-founder and CEO of JAZZHOLE and Glendora Bookshops whenever I wanted to have cerebral moments of intellectual discussion on literature, the reading culture and political leaders of Nigeria.

We are both old boys of the famous St  Gregory's College on the Island where I became a child celebrity at 13 when I won the first prize in a national essay competition followed by the beautiful Elizabeth Banjo, daughter of the famous Emeritus Professor Ladipo Ayodeji Banjo, CON.

I was standing, because I did not want to stay long. But as I decided to sit down, suddenly a hardcopy book fell to my feet from the bookshelf beside me. As I picked up the book, it was PLATO's "Republic"! One of his famous books and an all time classic and one of my favourite books.Written around 375 BCE, it is regarded as Plato's best-known work, and one of the world's most influential works of philosophy and political theory, both intellectually and historically.

This book is highly recommended for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON and Peter Obi, CON

Happy New Month of August of Success, Triumph and Victory!

#tuesdayexaltations😫👏💕💋💞🙌
HALLELUJAH!

HAPPY NEW MONTH OF AUGUST OF PROGRESS, PROSPERITY, SUCCESS, TRIUMPH AND VICTORY OF TRIUMPHANT OVERCOMERS AND VICTORIOUS CHAMPIONS OF OUR ONE AND ONLY ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD JEHOVAH JIREH.

Isaiah 43:18-19
King James Version (KJV)

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Psalm 111

1
Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

2 The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.

5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

6 He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.

7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.

8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Misinformation on Nigeria and Misrepresentation of Nigerians in Hollywood Movies

Misinformation on Nigeria and Misrepresentation of Nigerians in Hollywood Movies

There have been misinformation  on Nigeria and misrepresentation of Nigerians in Hollywood movies. But it is pathetic that, Nigerian actors were paid for their misinformation and misrepresentation of Nigeria and Nigerians in such movies as "The Bourne Identity", 2002 action-thriller with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as "Nykwana Wombosi".
No educated Nigerian Yoruba would speak with such accent and speaking the Yoruba language like a stranger from another tribe. And is Nykwana Wombosi a Yoruba name for him to speak Yoruba?

In "The Woman King" 2022 historical film about the Agojie, the all-female warriors of the kingdom of Dahomey during their wars against the Oyo Empire in
the 1820s, there was annoying misinformation and misrepresentation of the Oyo Empire with Jimmy Odukoya as General Oba Ade Oyo in an attire
that was not the way the soldiers of the army of the Oyo Empire dressed during that period and there was no sign of the famous calvary of the empire in "The Woman King". Showing the soldiers scampering in fear of explosions of gunpowder was ridiculous and exposed the ignorance and poor research of the producers of the film.

Misinformation and misrepresentation have done collateral damages to the history and knowledge of the facts of civilization.

Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" and Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock

l am studying Alfred Hitchcock's  "Psycho" of 1960. A classic masterpiece in psychological crime thrillers of the cinema.

Film critic, Roger Ebert's summary of the film in a 1998 review said it all.

"What makes Psycho immortal, when so many films are already half-forgotten as we leave the theater, is that it connects directly with our fears: Our fears that we might impulsively commit a crime, our fears of the police, our fears of becoming the victim of a madman, and of course our fears of disappointing our mothers."

The biographical romantic drama, "Hitchcock" of 2012 by Sacha Gervasi, a film adaptation of Stephen Rebello's 1990 non-fiction book "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho" on the dramatic moments between Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville played by Academy Award winning actress, Dame Helen Mirren DBE during the making of "Psycho" in 1959 is also a masterpiece. And the subtlety of the acting genius of Academy Award winning actor, Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins CBE as

Hitchcock should have won him an Oscar for Best Actor. The most  dramatic moment was the scene of Hitchcock in the lobby conducting to the soundtrack in the reaction of the audience during the gripping shower scene in "Psycho".

Shaka Ilembe is the Best, Biggest and Greatest African Epic Historical Drama Series

Shaka Ilembe is the Best, Biggest and Greatest African Epic Historical Drama Series

"Shaka Ilembe"is the best, biggest and greatest African epic historical drama series so far in the history of filmmaking and TV productions in Africa and one of the best epic drama series in the world.

In the content and context of the subject in production, and casting, directing, production design, set design, costume design and cinematography with naturalistic characters and realistic scenarios of the historical events, you can see the evidence of the professional excellence, experience and expertise of the producers. The series have been exciting and thrilling to watch on DStv.
The Directors, Academy Award-nominee Angus Gibson (Mandela) and Teboho Mahlatsi are geniuses with Desiree Markgraaff, the EP.

The movie set will be good for international art and architecture exhibition at the BIENNALE ARTE 2024 of the 60th International Art Exhibition that will take place from Saturday 20 April to Sunday 24 November, 2024 in Venice, Italy.

I published the news release from the MultiChoice Group since 2022 on my Nigerians Report on https://nigeriansreportng.blogspot.com/2022/05/africa-epic-historical-drama-series.html.

Set in the 1700s, "Shaka iLembe" tells the story of the making of the iconic African king, with iterations from his early childhood through to adulthood.

The awesome King of Zulus, Shaka kaSenzangakhona  (c. 1787 – 22 September 1828) has inspired writers and producers and was the inspiration for my own short story in 2020, "Shaka The Great: The Rise and Fall of the Greatest African King"
https://nigeriansreportng.blogspot.com/2020/09/shaka-great-rise-and-fall-of-greatest.html

"Shaka Ilembe" should be a must watch for every filmmaker, storyteller and other creatives in Africa, especially in Nollywood and Kannywood of the Nigerian film industry.

As I have always emphasized that South Africa has the best and biggest film industry in Africa.
What makes a film industry is more than the mass production of movies in thousands annually, but includes having film and TV markets, film commissions and movie merchandise as shown in the awesome production of "Shaka Ilembe" that is worth more than US$2 billion in the market valuations of the film tourism boosting the hospitality industry of South Africa and the movie merchandise of the fashion designs and accessories of the rich culture and lifestyles of Zulu people. A celebration of the culture of the haute couture and architecture Zulu Kingdom.
I will really love to visit the movie set.

"Shaka Ilembe' is a case study for sociocultural, socioeconomic and sociopolitical studies and anthropology of South Africa in African Studies and the history of filmmaking in Africa.

Producer: Multichoice Studios of the MultiChoice Group.
