“Nfumu Ngui”, The White Gorilla

SNOWFLAKE WAS captured in the Rio Muni region in Equatorial Guinea on October 1, 1966 by Benito Mañé, an ethnic Fang farmer. Mañé had killed the rest of Snowflake’s gorilla group (who were normal in color). Mañé then kept Snowflake at his home for four days before transporting him to Bata, where he was purchased by primatologist Jordi Sabater Pi .

Originally named “Nfumu Ngui” in Fang language (“white gorilla”) by his captor, he was then nicknamed “Floquet de Neu” (Catalan for “little snowflake” ) by his keeper Jordi Sabater Pi .Upon his arrival to Barcelona in November 1966, he was given an official reception by the then Mayor of Barcelona , Josep Maria de Porcioles and called “Blancanieves” (” Snow White “) in the newspaper Tele/Exprés . But he became famous with the name given to him by Sabater when National Geographic Magazine featured him on the cover in March 1967, with the English name Snowflake. This name spread among the press (Stern ,
Life , Paris-Match ). Sabater himself called the gorilla “Copi” or “Floquet”, and in the later years “Nfumu”. He was also known as “Little Buttercup”, and as the “Vanilla Gorilla”.

At first, the Barcelona Zoo was not aware that Snowflake was a unique specimen. They sent a message to Sabater Pi saying, “Please send more white gorillas.” The zoo later hoped to produce a genetic strain and an entire family group of white gorillas through selective breeding. The Barcelona Zoo had a protocol in place to have Snowflake’s testicles harvested, upon his death, and placed in the frozen zoo so as to reserve the option of having more offspring from him in the future. Snowflake’s genes would have been considered particularly valuable because he was wild caught, and therefore one of the genetic founders to the captive population of Western Lowland gorillas, which are endangered, and are being managed by AZA SSP / EEP captive breeding programs for wildlife conservation.

In 1986 the Barcelona Zoo enlisted British zoo veterinarian David Taylor to collect sperm from Snowflake for artificial insemination. Although the attempt was unsuccessful, the story was carried by newspapers the world over.

GTBank's "African Pride" TV Commercial Celebrates A New Nigeria

Have you seen GTBank's new TV commercial "African Pride"?

This is the best Nigerian bank TV commercial so far from all I have seen since 1980 to date and I have seen them all.

The "African Pride" is more like a short film of the Nigerian Dream for the nation building of a New Nigeria in the leadership of Africa in the world.
It is the kind of TV commercial that the Nigerian government should show on CNN, SKY, BBC and all the other major global TV networks for the world to see the new face of Nigeria as the fastest developing nation in Africa and one of the fastest growing economies in the world today.
I give the "African Pride" TV commercial maximum five stars rating, because it is a world class advert by all international standards. It should make the Cannes Lions next year.
 African Pride

There is a place the whole world is talking about. That place is Africa, and for good reason too. Africa has emerged and is still rising to do great and unexpected things. At GTBank, we are empowering the people of Africa to achieve those great and unexpected things.

Who is Fueling Boko Haram?

 Boko Haram's Toyota Hilux Jeeps.

Boko Haram terrorists with 11 Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorcycles attacked 13 villages and the Nigerian Air Force could not stop them?
Were they invisible?
And where did they get the fuel for their fleet of SUVs and motorcycles when thousands of ordinary people queue for fuel at the filling stations, because of scarcity of fuel?

There is nowhere in the anthills of the savannah in the north that a convoy of Toyota Hilux jeeps and motorcycles will be parked or moving that even a military helicopter will not be able to stop them before they can attack any village.

Active Film Distribution Companies in Nigeria and the Vicious Circle of Movie Piracy

Active Film Distribution Companies in Nigeria and the Vicious Circle of Movie Piracy

Nigeria has a peculiar film industry.
The Nigerian film industry does not have a formal film market, but there is active film distribution in Africa's largest film industry..
The Nigerian film industry which comprises of Nollywood and Kannywood is estimated to be worth more than US$ 590 million annually; producing over 2, 400 movies annually and employing more than 1, 000, 000 people every year. But there are no statistics to confirm these reports, because they are not facts.
I have published these reports in my NOLLYWOOD MIRROR® series, but the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) knows that the Nigerian film industry is still a guerrilla film industry in the African jungle and the claims of employing more than 1, 000, 000 people, making 2, 400 movies and generating more than US$590, 000, 000 annually are not verified by any auditor.

GTBANK PAYS BEST.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc pays her staff at entry level the sum of N209,000 (two hundred and nine thousand naira) per month after confirmation, which makes it one of the highest paying banks in Nigeria.
What GTBank pays is more than what Zenith Bank, First Bank, Skye Bank, Fidelity Bank and even the Central Bank of Nigeria pay their entry level staff.
