Let Potential Ministers in Nigeria Take Psychological Test
~ By Dr. John Egbeazien Oshodi.
President Muhammadu Buhari as you diligently work towards forming your cabinet with persons who will help the nation in the right direction, knowing what motivates such political leader is crucial.
Understanding the individual’s level of self-disciple, and having a comprehensive and deeper psychological shape of the individual’s personality is important.
Full Psychological testing, not psychiatric assessment which focuses more on the biological aspects of mental illness and psychiatric medications, will be required to help screen out potential ministers with damaged personality characteristics and screen in those with personality profiles that could make them suitable for ministerial work.
What is required is a battery of standardized psychological assessments which include testing for the fundamental personality, emotional, and cognitive traits of persons.
Psychological determination will help in screening out those with deceitful, conscienceless, unkind, manipulative, self-dramatic, selfish, and ruthless characteristics; and help screen in those with qualities of charisma, empathy, selflessness, expediency, and compassion.
Through the psychological evaluation process, we can detect those with indicators of dishonesty, moral omissions, and a sense of hostility, bitterness, all-powerfulness, or abusiveness.
Through the psychological evaluation, we can detect those with good problem-solving skills, of average and above intelligence, and those who can act appropriately in very tempting situations, as well as detect those who are impulsive, sexually wobbly, drink heavily, or have difficulties managing their financial lives.
Through psychological exposures, potential ministers that will behave responsibly and show genuine care for the people and society will be revealed.
Those who are deeply wired with characteristics of psychopathy, narcissism, sociopathy or those who are outright evil in their mentality and lack feelings of moral and social responsibilities will be screened out.
Through psychological testing, potential nominees with manners of anti-social characteristics, profiles of falsehoods, and extra affection for power and authority will be exposed.
Mr. President it is essential we do this now, so as to weed out the bad ones at an early stage, before they can do more damage to our already troubled young nation.
Let us do this in order to find out persons with suitability for positions of power, and fully prone to democratic belief, and ethical character. In this historic period of rebuilding Nigeria, let’s use the psychological process in the form of a new broom to sweep out bad nominees and bring in potentially successful ministers.
This is very important before they are allowed to take up positions of power and responsibility in society; otherwise, as we have seen in the last decade we will again be reduced to the chaos of a troubled society.
By the way, Mr. President, I am ready to serve our nation on this issue with no cost to no one.
