In 1979, the American embassy in Iran was invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans are taken hostage. However, six manage to escape to the official residence of the Canadian Ambassador and the CIA is eventually ordered to get them out of the country. With few options, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devises a daring plan: to create a phony Canadian film project looking to shoot in Iran and smuggle the Americans out as its production crew. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez creates the ruse and proceeds to Iran as its associate producer. However, time is running out with the Iranian security forces closing in on the truth while both his charges and the White House have grave doubts about the operation themselves.

Best Diets for 2013
Do: Load up on fruits and veggies. They carry zero points, meaning you can eat as many as you’d like, since they’re high in fiber and more filling than, say, a bag of chips or a candy bar. [Kelly Cline/iStockphoto]
U.S. News & World Report Announces Best Diets 2013
Expanded Rankings Include Plant-Based Diets
WASHINGTON, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- For a meaningful start to a healthy new year, U.S. News & World Report released today its Best Diets 2013 rankings, featuring a variety of weight loss programs. The third installment of this popular ranking features expanded coverage, including new plant-based diets rankings.
Best Diets 2013 provides a look at 29 diets, ranging from the Traditional Asian Diet to Weight Watchers. Diets were ranked based on ratings from an independent panel of 20 experts. The experts rated each diet in categories such as ease of compliance, diabetes control and management, heart health, weight loss, safety, and nutritional completeness.
"Many Americans struggle with maintaining a healthy diet, and especially around the first of the year tend to become interested in trying a new one," said Brian Kelly, Editor and Chief Content Officer of U.S. News. "Diets are serious business, so we've assembled the experts to provide the best and most current information for consumers."
Increasingly popular in health and wellness circles, plant-based diets have gained attention as a potential antidote to the obesity epidemic in this country. In addition to weight loss, research suggests these diets help protect against diabetes, heart disease, and other health conditions. U.S. News evaluated 11 plant-based diets, including the Anti-Inflammatory Diet, Engine 2 Diet, and Flexitarian Diet.
Among other things, an in-depth profile for each diet explains how the diet works, evaluates its claims, and reveals what it's like to live on the diet. The full methodology is available here, and for more information, please visit www.usnews.com/bestdiets2013, or find us on Facebook or Twitter.

Source: Uploaded by user via Re-Branding Nigeria on Pinterest
Skyfall has made over $1,023,204,366 so far since the 23rd James Bond film premiered on October 23, 2012 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, released in the UK on October 26, 2012 and in the U.S.A. on November 9, 2012. Skyfall is the first Bond film to cross the $1 billion mark worldwide and the 13th highest grossing film of all time and has become the highest-grossing film in the UK, the highest-grossing film in the Bond series, the highest-grossing film worldwide for Sony Pictures and the third highest-grossing film of 2012.
Skyfall with Daniel Craig in his third performance as James Bond was directed by Sam Mendes and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. The film cost about $150−200 million.
It was the first James Bond film to be screened in IMAX venues, but was not filmed with IMAX cameras.
The film's release coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Bond series, which began with Dr. No in 1962.
Craig's Bond contract, which he signed in 2005, is for 3 Bond films over 6 years, or 4 Bond films over 10 years at the discretion of Sony and Eon. Craig is being paid USD $12,000,000 for his first 3 Bond films, with an option to earn an additional USD $10,000,000 should Sony and Eon want him to make a 4th Bond film. For his first 3 007 films Craig will be paid less than half what Pierce Brosnan was paid for his first 3 Bond movies.

In South Sudan, Two Journalists Detained in Wau
Many newspapers in Sudan have been closed or suspended and many journalists detained, tortured, or subject to judicial investigations.

In South Sudan, Two Journalists Detained in Wau
NEW YORK, January 7, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Authorities in South Sudan have been holding two state broadcast journalists without charge since Tuesday, according to local journalists and media reports. The journalists were picked up in a sweep of arrests following protests and ethnic clashes last month in the northwestern town of Wau in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
Louis Pasquale, director-general of the state broadcaster in Western Bahr el Ghazal, and Ashab Khamis, director of state television, are being held at the Meir al Bahr prison in Wau, according to the same sources. Along with Pasquale and Khamis, three other journalists working for the state broadcaster-radio director Alor Deng, head of news Kamilo Luchiano, and cameraman Michael Lawrence-were arrested but released Wednesday evening, Deng and state Information Minister Derrick Alfred told CPJ.
Local journalists said they suspect the arrests are related to coverage of violence in Wau. Last month, protests erupted after the government said it would transfer the local county headquarters from Wau, the state capital, to a nearby town; at least 10 people died in the ensuing crackdown on demonstrators, international media reported. Wau was a garrison town for the Sudan army before South Sudan gained independence in 2011 and has experienced ethnic clashes since separation. Citizens opposed to the county transfer accuse the government of marginalizing certain ethnic groups, while the government argues it is trying to deliver services to less developed areas, according to local journalists.
Security agents accuse the state media of providing footage of the clashes to international broadcaster Al-Jazeera, Catholic-run Bakhita Radio reported.
"These arrests appear to be part of an effort to suppress information about the unrest in Western Bahr el Ghazal," said CPJ East Africa Consultant Tom Rhodes. "We call on authorities to release Louis Pasquale and Ashab Khamis immediately, and allow journalists to cover events in the state without facing intimidation or arrest."
Alfred said the arrests were intended to restore order to the town. Western Bahr-el Ghazal State Governor Rizik Zakaria said in an interview on U.N.-backed Miraya FM that the journalists were arrested for administrative reasons, but did not give further detail.
According to independent shortwave Radio Tamazuj, authorities briefly detained other journalists from Radio Tamazuj and the Catholic-run Voice of Hope. Radio Tamazuj also reported that some journalists have received death threats by phone or text message since the clashes in Wau.

Sandra Appiah: The Youngest Black Editor and COO of an International Magazine
Source: Uploaded by user via Re-Branding Nigeria on Pinterest
Sandra Appiah is the youngest black Editor and COO of an international magazine in the world, the Face2Face AFRICA magazine in New York, U.S.A. At 23, millions of her fellow young African women are either hawking goods on the streets of Accra and Lagos, already having unwanted pregnancies and unwanted babies in dysfunctional marriages or still in colleges, polytechnics and universities in Africa, the most undeveloped continent on earth. And according to the African Economic Outlook, with almost 200 million people aged between 15 and 24, Africa has the youngest population in the world and that number will double by 2045.
Between 2000 and 2008, Africa’s working age population (15-64 years) grew from 443 million to 550 million; an increase of 25%. In annual terms this is a growth of 13 million, or 2.7% per year (World Bank 2011a). If this trend continues, the continent’s labour force will be 1 billion strong by 2040, making it the largest in the world, surpassing both China and India (McKinsey Global Institute, 2010).
~ African Economic Outlook, http://www.africaneconomicoutlook.org/en/in-depth/youth_employment/
Youth unemployment is higher in Africa than in other continents and the grave consequences have been seen in the widespread conflicts caused by economic and sociopolitical crimes in many African countries with increase in human trafficking as millions of young Africans are migrating to the U.S., Europe and other countries. But things are not better for them in the developed countries where the recession left millions of people jobless. Unemployment Rate in the United States remained unchanged at 7.80 percent in December of 2012 with number of unemployed persons at 12.2 million. And blacks have been hit the hardest by unemployment at 15.8 percent. But in spite of all these challenges in Africa and in her new base in the US, Sandra Appiah, an eptiome of beauty and brilliance is still proudly African and walking tall in the Bronx writing her own illuminating chapter of the American Dream with her team of young blacks and their mission is to use Face2Face AFRICA to re-brand the image of Africa in America and the rest of the world.
Sandra rocks 24/7.

Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot
3 Jan 2013 20:00 Africa/Lagos
National Geographic Channel Partners With Scott Free Productions To Produce Best-Selling Author Bill O'Reilly Follow-up 'Killing Kennedy'
WASHINGTON, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the tremendous success of the National Geographic Channel's first feature film SEAL Team Six and in anticipation of the upcoming world premiere of Killing Lincoln in February 2013, National Geographic Channel President Howard T. Owens announced today that the network once again will join forces with Scott Free Productions to produce a two-hour film based on Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot, Bill O'Reilly's latest New York Times best-selling book with co-author Martin Dugard.
The two-hour factual drama will stay true to the narrative storytelling devices used by O'Reilly in the book, which recounts the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy — and how a sequence of gunshots in Dallas not only killed a beloved president, but also propelled the nation into the Vietnam War and a cultural change.
"The common parallels between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy are astonishing, with both assassinations profoundly changing the nation during crucial moments in its history. It made perfect sense that my follow-up to Lincoln would naturally lead to Kennedy," said author Bill O'Reilly. "While Kennedy's assassination continues to garner many conspiracy theories, our story is based on facts, some that haven't been publicly known. And with National Geographic Channel and Scott Free once again at the helm, I have the utmost trust and faith that they will bring the story of Kennedy and Camelot to life."
Production on the two-hour television event will begin this spring, combining rare historical insights and archives with dramatic and emotionally engaging storytelling in the signature style of the Scott brothers. Casting news will be announced shortly.
The special will premiere globally on the National Geographic Channel in 171 countries and 38 languages.
"Collaborating with National Geographic on Bill O'Reilly's follow-up was an easy decision. They share the same passion of storytelling, willing to take creative leaps and risks to keep viewers entertained to tell the provocative story of Kennedy's last days, a pivotal and historic moment," said Ridley Scott.
"With the tremendous success of SEAL Team Six, our first feature film, and the growing excitement over this February's premiere of Killing Lincoln, producing Bill O'Reilly's follow-up was a no-brainer and will be yet another story that will resonate with our audience," said Owens. More than a million readers have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln, the page-turning work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy—and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath.
In January 1961, as the Cold War escalates, John F. Kennedy struggles to contain the growth of Communism while he learns the hardships, solitude, and temptations of what it means to be president of the United States. Along the way he acquires a number of formidable enemies, among them Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, and Alan Dulles, director of the Central Intelligence Agency. In addition, powerful elements of organized crime have begun to talk about targeting the president and his brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy.
In the midst of a 1963 campaign trip to Texas, Kennedy is gunned down by an erratic young drifter named Lee Harvey Oswald. The former Marine Corps sharpshooter escapes the scene, only to be caught and shot dead while in police custody.
The events leading up to the most notorious crime of the twentieth century are almost as shocking as the assassination itself. Killing Kennedy chronicles both the heroism and deceit of Camelot, bringing history to life in ways that will profoundly move the reader. This may well be the most talked about book of the year.

President Obama's Grandmother Flies To Equatorial Guinea For Surgery
State-of-the-art hospital's reputation for high-quality health services grows in Africa
MALABO, Equatorial Guinea, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- La Paz Hospital, located in the capital city of Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, recently treated United States President Barack Obama's step-grandmother, Sarah Onyango Obama.
Sarah Obama traveled from Kenya to Equatorial Guinea to have emergency eye surgery. She is currently making a full recovery.
During her stay in Equatorial Guinea she said, "All of Africa is talking about your hospital and of the fact that you don't need to fly to Europe to get medical treatment."
La Paz is a full-service hospital offering expertise in radiology, emergency and intensive care, urology, pediatrics, gynecology obstetrics, surgery, dentistry, and ophthalmology. With close to 130 beds, the Medical Center's delivery rooms, recovery rooms, laboratories, pharmacies, and clinics allow highly trained medical staff to serve those in need.
La Paz hospital is one of the many investments the government of Equatorial Guinea has made in recent years to promote improved public health. The hospital is an asset for foreign investment because it provides a guarantee of high-quality medical care for many thousands of foreign workers in the country. It also provides valuable training for Equatorial Guinea's medical professionals and is helping to raise the standards for hospital care in the country.
La Paz is not a private hospital that is required to treat emergency cases and other cases that are beyond the capacity of the nation's other hospitals. In 2011, surgeons at La Paz reattached an Equatoguinean man's severed hand.
The hospital is a joint venture between the government of Equatorial Guinea and Medical Services International Inc, and operates under the guidance of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, Israel's national medical center and the most comprehensive medical center in the Middle East.
About Equatorial Guinea
The Republic of Equatorial Guinea (Republica de Guinea Ecuatorial) is the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa, and one of the smallest nations on the continent. In the late-1990s, American companies helped discover the country's oil and natural gas resources, which only within the last five years began contributing to the global energy supply. Equatorial Guinea is now working to serve as a pillar of stability and security in its region of West Central Africa. The country hosted the 2011 Summit of the African Union.
