Invisible Children Announces Release Of "MOVE"

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Invisible Children, a non-profit organization that seeks to stop atrocities committed by Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in Central Africa, today announced it will release "MOVE: A Movie About A Movie About A Movement About You" on October 7, 2012, 7 p.m. PDT.

(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20121005/DC88120)

MOVE, the first film released by Invisible Children since the return of founder and chief creative officer Jason Russell, is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the most viral video ever, the organization behind it, and the movement that made an African warlord famous. In this new movie, which was co-directed by Russell, who also directed KONY 2012, a generation is challenged to stand for justice.

"KONY 2012 was the start of an experiment about what our generation is capable of and it's not over yet. How we finish will determine where international justice will fall from here," stated Jason Russell. "Through MOVE we seek to hold world leaders accountable to their promises and challenge viewers to move their digital efforts into the physical world because children are still being abducted by Joseph Kony and the LRA. Where you live shouldn't determine whether you live, but whether you move will determine where you stand." MOVE asks the viewer: Will you take a stand for international justice and join us in Washington, D.C. on November 17 th?

ABOUT INVISIBLE CHILDREN
Invisible Children, founded in 2004, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based on the belief that there is equal and inherent value in all human life. Our mission is to bring a permanent end to atrocities committed by Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) through an integrated four part model; media, mobilization, protection and recovery. We are focused on the LRA because they have been abducting children and committing atrocities in East and Central Africa since 1987. For additional information please visit www.invisiblechildren.com.

ABOUT KONY 2012
Invisible Children's KONY 2012 swept the globe, garnering over 100 million views in six days. It was called the most viral video of all time and inspired more than 3.7 million people to sign a pledge demanding justice for Joseph Kony. In the following months, seven pieces of LRA-related legislation were introduced in U.S. Congress; the EU made a statement of commitment; and the AU and UN created a new strategy for ending LRA violence.

Nicki Minaj Gets $200,000 To Perform in Nigeria

Nicki Minaj is going to be paid a whopping $200,000 to perform in a Christmas carnival in Nigeria where majority of the population of over 158 million people live from hand to mouth on less than a dollar per day and over 33 million are jobless with majority of the people living in blighted areas without clean water and without electricity.
Nigeria is one of the most corrupt and insecure countries in the world according to Transparency International where thousands have been attacked and killed by the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic terrorist sect and their fellow Hausa Fulani herdsmen on rampage in the Middle Belt and northern regions, and innocent citizens being kidnapped and robbed in other states.

The following is a detailed report from Nigeria.

American female rapper Nicki Minaj is said to be among the International acts to perform at this year’s edition of the Africa’s biggest street party, Calabar Carnival. News reaching us say the “Young Money” artiste will pocket $200, 000 USD for her appearance at the event.

Calabar Carnival festival in Nigeria, was created as part of the vision of making the Cross River State in Nigeria, the number one tourist destination for Nigerians and tourists all over the world. The carnival which begins on every 1st of December to the eve of the New Year has boosted the cultural mosaic of Nigerian people while entertaining the millions of spectators within and outside the State, and boosting industry for all stakeholders.

The Calabar Carnival has come a long way since it started 2004, when the past governor of Cross River State, Mr Donald Duke had a vision of making his state the hub for tourism and hospitality in Nigeria and in Africa. The Carnival presents a perfect platform for brand visibility for consumers and market awareness. Recently, Cross River State and Calabar has become the pride of Nigeria and Africa as far as tourism, carnivals and hospitality are concerned.

The event has hosted top Nigerian musicians, Nolly-wood Actors, Politicians and international artistes. Over the last 4 years international artistes like, the late Lucky Dube, Akon, Fat Joe,Joe, young Jeezy, Nelly, Kirk Franklin, and many more have thrilled the large crowds of Nigerians and tourists from outside the country.

Desperate Nigerian Girlfriends Versus Desperate Nigerian Wives

Desperate Nigerian girlfriend in action. Photo Credit: Naija Mayor.

“Hold on to your man!”
Screams the sticker on a Toyota RAV4 jeep on the Broad Street in Lagos and you cannot help but be amused by it. It is a warning to women not to lose their men.
No woman wants to lose her man to anyone, except she does not need him anymore.
I have read many reports about man shortage among the African Americans in the United States and Caribbean banana republics and also among the blacks in Africa. But there is really no shortage of men, but there is only shortage of enough eligible bachelors to go round all the millions of single women who need suitable men to wed and take care of them until their last days on earth. This is the reality of the present interesting times.

In Nigeria hundreds of manufacturing companies have been shut or relocated to Ghana the safest neigbouring country due to the alarming state of insecurity and irregular power supply, banks are retrenching with thousands of employees losing their dream jobs and other companies unable to employ more workers because of different economic challenges, increasing the population of millions of jobless people in the most populous nation in Africa. There are more jobless men than jobless women and in most cases the men have to provide for their women whether they are single lovers or married couples.
Nigeria is definitely in a state of chaos with recurrent crimes of terrorism by the dreaded Boko Haram Islamists and the other lunatic fringe of Islamic fundamentalism, abductions by dare devil kidnappers and robberies by both armed and unarmed robbers in the ghettos and in the corridors of power and the diabolical activities of cultists making living in the country a nightmare.
These are indeed desperate times and Nigerians are taking desperate measures for their survival and welfare. But the most challenged are the jobless legions in the rural areas and urban areas milling around wherever they can find whatever they can do to make ends meet. They are the liabilities of those who are gainfully employed.

The struggle for survival has pitched the jobless single girls and ladies against the married women as their husbands have become the targets of these predatory girlfriends and spinsters on the prowl from the street to the office, with reports of philandering husbands making headlines and the daily topics of tabloid gossips and the aggrieved wives who don’t want to be outdone have either engaged the desperate girlfriends of their husbands in bouts or going out to have their own boyfriends.
Don’t be surprised to hear reports of wives dating the boyfriends of the girlfriends of their husbands. Like the case of a buddy who ended up sleeping with the wife of the sugar daddy of his girlfriend!

Desperate Nigerian girlfriends are no longer ashamed to date and mate with married men and desperate Nigerian wives are now sleeping with single men in town.
When you hear “RUNS” babes, they are the desperate Nigerian girlfriends who are either full time call girls or part-time call girls on and off campus shuttling from city to city to sleep with their sugar daddies or rich big boys.
Now you know why more hotels, brothels, motels, and guest houses are springing up while manufacturing companies are shutting down!

I sat in the company of chauffeurs in one of the best hotels in Ikoyi, Lagos, and listened as they shared the romantic and erotic adventures of their “Ogas” and “Madams” who have been playing silly buggers with their unscrupulous lovers in extramarital affairs. Let us skip the details here to avoid damning disclosures, but what they shared with me were shocking scandalous illicit sex affairs of infidelity.

The shameless desperate Nigerian wives have been caught napping in bed with their boyfriends and the pictures of them in the nude circulated on the internet and the desperate Nigerian girlfriends have been disgraced on and offline.

Latest global surveys have found Nigerian women among the most unfaithful in the world and a DNA experts report that thirty percent of Nigerian men are not the real fathers of their kids shocked the whole Nigeria, because their wives lied to them on the true paternity of the innocent children. But the worst grave consequences of their sexual escapades are the millions of cases of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.

Nigerian Actress Assaulted By Nigerian Soldiers in Abuja

Nollywood actress Dorothy Njamanze was assaulted by the Nigerian Army Force by 9pm a couple of days ago, Nollywood Gossip said.

The beautiful activist, who is currently receiving treatment at an Abuja hospital, tells Delia Innoma (Live Online With Delia) how disappointed she is to be a victim of what she has been fighting against.

This is what she had to say:

“On my way from the ambassador for peace beauty pageant held at the Sheraton Hotels, I decided to check on my brother at the end of my street. I parked my car in front of Dreams Garden at the end of my street behind one bus, and was going in to see Ugo (my brother) when a man dressed in a man-o-war uniform appeared from nowhere and shoved me on my bosoms, commanding that I get into the bus I parked behind.

“I reprimanded him for touching my bosoms but instead of apologizing, he continued to pushing me by my bosoms towards the bus, so when I couldn’t bear it anymore I pushed him too and started running away.

“Three men wearing man-o-war uniform and a head warmer, no name tags, and two plain clothes policemen ran after me. When they caught me they descended on me, beating me mercilessly despite the fact that I was screaming who I was.

“A girl who was waiting for me in my car, after waiting for a while and didn’t see me, came down to go and look for me at my brother’s place. She was horrified to see all those uniformed men assaulting me and trying to force me into the bus.

“She started pleading with them, telling them who I am and even showing them my car keys, but all to no avail. She started screaming when she thought they were going to kill me and that attracted people’s attention.

“When crowd gathered and people started recognizing me, there started coming to my rescue and there was almost a mob attack. A soldier out of fear cocked his gun and said he’ll shoot me if I don’t enter the bus.

“What hurts most is that I’ve been fighting against violence against women, and now I’m a first victim of it. I have over 70 cases of abused women on Abuja streets.

“The team that assaulted me tried to escape. I chased them down to area 10. Ugo found me there and another soldier cocked a gun, pointed at his tummy and threatened to shoot. A female soldier cocked her gun and pointed at Justina, the girl in my car, who was supposed to be on my show (ability talk, earlier in the day on love 104.5fm). Apparently the female soldier wanted to shoot Justina for having piercings on her face, because she said Justina was not a true Nigerian by that.

“Women have been randomly abducted and forced to confess to prostitutions by AEPB in conjunction with the questionable NGO, Society Against Prostitution and Child Labour.

“I have over 70 cases against them and now I’m a victim. Women are not safe in Abuja.

“The Military should be put to better use. It’s high time they pay for the damages they have been causing. I am so traumatized. Having cocked guns pointed at us is a mental image that tortures me.

“Government needs to hear us out, get facts and figures and stop the abuse against women. I wish the national assembly will permit me make a full presentation on the degree of this violence against women in Abuja and act immediately on it.

“I have Molestation victims, bullet injury victims, people beaten out of their jeeps at gunpoint whose names were published as LovePeddlers in national dailies, abused youth coppers… all sorts of traumatized victims. These people need rehabilitation at difference levels urgently.”

Well, we hope the government is reading because the worst kinds of violence are those against women and children.

The Rise of Women in Technology

It’s time for the old adage that women neither like nor do well in math and science be put to rest …

Women are increasingly involved in the tech field, both as consumers and as practitioners, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since over half of social media users are women and the average social gamer is a woman in her 40s.

This trend is also reflected in education. Of the computer science majors graduating in 2013 from Harvard, women make up 41%. And although only 25% of science, tech, engineering and math (STEM) jobs are currently held by women, the numbers are beginning to shift. Between January of 2011 and 2012, the number of women in the IT field jumped by more than 28%.

The benefits for women who enter tech are hard to deny. They experience smaller wage gaps due to gender than women in other industries. But the relationship between women and tech companies isn’t one-sided – the companies get some nice perks, too. Companies whose boards of directors contain 3 or more female members had higher returns on sales, returns on investments and returns on equity.

The infographic below delves deeper into how the phenomenon of women in tech is on the rise.

The Rise Of Women In Tech
