Princewill’s Political Associates Hail National Award on King T.J.T Princewill
HRH King (Prof.) Theophilus Jacob Tom Princewill, the Amachree XI, Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom
PRESS RELEASE: National Award on King T.J.T Princewill is Recognition of Examplary and Selfless Service - PPA
Princewill’s Political Associates (PPA) has described the inclusion of His Majesty King (Prof.) Theophilus Jacob Tom Princewill, the Amachree XI, Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom and Chairman of Rivers State Traditional Council of Chiefs among the handful of distinguished Nigerians to be conferred with National Honours at the National Merit Award slated for the 14th of November, 2011 as a welcome development signifying national recognition of its Patriarch and the father of its charismatic leader.
According to the PPA, the conferment of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) that King T.J.T. Princewill, will receive is indeed testament to the Amanyanabo’s exemplary selflessness in the course of his career in Academia and also in service as Royal Father to his people and all other tribes of Rivers extraction as the current head of all Traditional rulers in Rivers state. Widely considered a rare gem and a living legend,
His Majesty is also a foremost Professor of Medical Microbiology who distinguished himself in Academia as a lecturer and well sought after External Examiner to various Universities. He served as Head of Department of Microbiology University of Port Harcourt from 1982-1984. Dean of Students Affairs of University of Port Harcourt from 1985-1986, Dean, School of Graduates Studies, University of Port Harcourt, 1987-1990; Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt from 1991-2000. Two students who passed under his wing were the current Mr. President himself and the current Executive Governor of Rivers state.
This gift to Nigeria is an international figure – a member Society for General Microbiology (UK), member; Society for Applied Bacteriology (UK), member, British Spore Group and countless other societies both in Nigeria and abroad. He is also a member, Nigerian Society for Immunology, Nigerian Society for Animal Production amongst others.
Closer to home, he was a member of Rivers State Advisory Council from 1999-2007, Member, Rivers State Peace and Reconciliation Committee from 2006 to 2007 and decorated as the Grass Root Royal Father of the year in 2005 (GRRF).
King Princewill holds tenaciously to the traditions and culture of the ancient kingdom of Kalabari, a lion, an icon, an academic par excellence, a peaceful and amiable personality, a true father, a study in the virtues of humility, a great grassroots leader.
He is also a philanthropist par excellence who has been in the forefront of sponsoring the less privileged in the country to schools of higher learning as well as employment of youths in the country, thus, reducing the menace of poverty and youths’ unemployment and restiveness in Kalabari Kingdom and Rivers State at large. Last year alone he awarded scholarship to 96 Rivers State indigenes in Higher Institutions for postgraduates and undergraduate studies.
Speaking on the award, the National Coordinator of PPA, Dr Ikanya Ibiamu described the award as well deserved and a special early birthday gift to the King, who turns 82 on the 4th of January, 2012.
Ibiamu prayed that with the peace that currently pervades the Kalabari Kingdom where he holds sway and the maturity he has brought to bear as Chairman of Rivers State Traditional Rulers; he will give even more to our nation.
Prince Tonye Princewill the PPA Leader and the Prince of the Niger Delta described the award as a splendid gift not only to his father, but to the whole of Kalabari Kingdom, the entire Rivers State but most especially to him. The Prince in an emotion laden voice, recalled with nostalgia when in 2003/2004 King (Prof.) T.J.T. Princewill was nominated for a national honour award in the category of the 'Commander of the Order of Niger (CON), only to have his name mysteriously disappear ahead of the Award Event with no explanation. Not one to dwell on such past misadventures, Prince Tonye expressed gratitude to God and reiterated the divine assurance that whatever has been ordained, will surely come to pass even in greater measure.
Princewill expressed his gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan and Rotimi Amaechi (two University of Port Harcourt alumni) for the honour, whilst reiterating his commitment to dedicating himself to greater service to the nation. Amaechi himself is due to receive the prestigious Commander of the Niger (CON) title and to that the Prince also had something to say. The history of Nigeria he said would not be written without the name of Amaechi being involved. Not many people at his age can have that said about them. For a Governor who rose against all odds to become what he is today and enjoy the goodwill of so many says enough. My only addition to that is he is not finished yet. "Nigeria should watch out for this man."
To Dame Queen Florence T.J.T. Princewill, JP the wife of King Princewill, her elation on receipt of the news of her husband’s award is best captured in her words “I am highly privileged to be the wife, friend, mother and Queen to Amachree XI who today is an epitome of excellence and a reservoir of ideas and knowledge. Having spent a great part of my life with this great but unassuming King of our people whose life is the study in humility; a Professor of repute and world acclaimed academic who still comes down to the level of any of his subjects to relate to them.
This is a first class King who is well respected and feared both near and far but still exhibits humility uncommon to men of his class. To me and those close to this great source of knowledge we are truly privileged to be related to him”.
In his reaction to the award, the Amanyanabo of Kalabari, King (Professor) TJT Princewill, called on the relevant authorities to accord the traditional institution its rights in the scheme of things, especially in the present political dispensation. He expressed joy over the conferment of the award, as it shows that the Kalabari people have a king that will help the kingdom to grow and thanked Mr. President for deeming it fit to recognize his little efforts and contributions toward his people and mankind in general.
As a body, we at the PPA give all the Glory to God that Our King, Our Father, our Prof. has been endorsed by the Nation.

Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) meeting
ADDIS ABABA, November 14, 2011/location>)/ -- The Commission of the African Union will be hosting the Meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) on Wednesday 16 November 2011, at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
As mandated by the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea in July 2011, the CAHOSCC meeting will consider the key messages reviewed and refined by the Special Session of the African Ministerial Council on Environment (AMCEN) held in Bamako, Mali in September 2011. The meeting will also deliberate on the state of play of the global climate change negotiations and chart strategies for Africa's effective participation at CoP17/CMP7. This is in preparation for the 17th Conference of Parties (Cop17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 7th Meeting of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP7) due to take place from 28 November to 09 December 2011 in Durban, Republic of South Africa.
CAHOSCC will also appraise and provide guidance on the ongoing preparatory work that the Commission, together with the Republic of South Africa (host of COP17/CMP7), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and other partners, has been engaged in towards having an African Pavilion at CoP17/CMP7 in Durban. The African Pavilion, organised around “Development First” theme, will be featuring during the entire course of CoP17/CMP7 a series of events, hosted by a number of stakeholders, to showcase Africa's best practices and successes in dealing with climate change and climate variability. The events in the African Pavilion will culminate on the 8th of December 2011 in an “Africa Day” featuring High Level Fora on Africa's Future in the Context of Climate Change and on Financing Africa's response to Climate Change.
It is to be recalled that CAHOSCC was established in 2009 by the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government to spearhead African Common Position on Climate Change and to ensure that Africa speaks with one voice in global climate change negotiations. It began its work with CoP15 in Copenhagen, carried on in Cancun, Mexico (CoP16) and will pursue its work at CoP17 in Durban South Africa.
CAHOSCC comprises Algeria, Democratic Republic of Congo (current Chair of the African Group of Negotiators/Experts), the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea (current AU Chair), Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali (current President of AMCEN), Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and the Chairperson of the AU Commission. The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Mr. Meles Zenawi is the Coordinator of CAHOSCC.
Journalists are invited to attend the opening session of the CAHOSCC meeting that is scheduled to kick-off at 9:00am on Wednesday16 November 2011 at the AU Commission, as well as the press conference at the end of the meeting.

Nigerians Report Song of the Year: I Believe by Ego
Rise for you when you call on me
Do for you everything to uphold your glory
Fight for you with all the strength in me
Turn it all around and tell a better storyThat’s what I’ll do for you
That’s what I have to give you
Cos I believe in you
Don’t let them deceive you
We’re gonna make it >2x
Suffer and though it’s not in vainSmiling faces even though inside we’re hurting
I know you’ve been through so much pain
Feel for you so much love
And there is nothing I wouldn’t do for you
Cos I believe in you
I will serve you with all my heart
It’s true
We’re gonna make it >2x
Bridge
I believe in a greater tomorrow
I believe in a better today
Let’s look at all the sorrows
From those terrible yesterdays.
Rise for you when you call on me
Do for you everything to uphold your glory
Strive to be the best that I can be
Turn it all around and make history
Cos I believe in you
I will serve you with all my heart
I believe in you
I believe in you
There’s gonna be a better way >2x
If we just thought today we’re gonna make it
I believe…
Beautiful Zion
Don’t let anyone tell you
There are some things you can’t do
Just believe this way we’re gonna break it

About Happy Feet Two: An IMAX 3D Experience
The sequel to "Happy Feet," the Academy Award®-winning animated smash hit, "Happy Feet Two" returns audiences to the magnificent landscape of Antarctica in superb 3D.
Mumble, The Master of Tap, has a problem because his tiny son, Erik, is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven—a penguin who can fly! Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model.
But things get worse when the world is shaken by powerful forces.
Erik learns of his father's "guts and grit" as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures—from tiny Krill to giant Elephant Seals—to put things right.
"Happy Feet Two" is directed by George Miller, who won an Oscar® as the creator of the original "Happy Feet." The film features the voices of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Alecia Moore (P!nk), Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Sofia Vergara, Common, Hugo Weaving, Richard Carter, Magda Szubanski, Anthony LaPaglia and Benjamin "Lil P-Nut" Flores, Jr.
George Miller co-wrote the screenplay with Gary Eck, Warren Coleman and Paul Livingston. Miller is also producing the film, along with Doug Mitchell and Bill Miller. Chris deFaria, Philip Hearnshaw, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers. The co-director/cinematographer—camera is David Peers and the animation director is Rob Coleman. The film features vocals by P!nk, with music by John Powell.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production, with Dr. D. Studios, a George Miller film, "Happy Feet Two." The film has been rated PG for "rude humor and mild peril."

Top U.S. Hospitals for Heart Care
Top Hospitals Show Across-the-Board Improvement
THOMSON REUTERS LOGO Thomson Reuters logo. (PRNewsFoto/Thomson Reuters) NEW YORK, NY UNITED STATES
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomson Reuters today released its annual study identifying the top U.S. hospitals for inpatient cardiovascular services.
(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20090507/NY12658LOGO )
The study, in its thirteenth year, singled out 50 hospitals that achieved superior clinical outcomes.
"This year's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals have continued to deliver excellent care and have been able to improve their performance in a tough economic climate," said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president for performance improvement and 100 Top Hospitals® program at Thomson Reuters. "The hospitals in this study have provided measurably better care and are more efficient than their peers, demonstrating incredibly strong focus by hospital leadership at a time when the healthcare system is steeped in volatility."
The study shows that 97 percent of cardiovascular inpatients in U.S. hospitals survive and approximately 96 percent remain complication-free, reflecting improved cardiovascular care across-the-board over the past year. The 50 top hospitals' performance surpasses these high-water marks as indicated by:
* Better risk-adjusted survival rates (23 percent fewer deaths than non-winning hospitals for bypass surgery patients).
* Lower complications indices (40 percent lower rate of heart failure complications).
* Fewer patients readmitted to the hospital after 30 days.
* Shorter hospital visits and lower costs. Top hospitals discharge bypass patients nearly a full day sooner and spend $4,200 less per bypass case than non-winners.
* Increased use of internal mammary artery (IMA) for coronary artery bypass surgeries. Top hospitals have increased their use of this recommended procedure from 88 to 96 percent
The study evaluated general and applicable specialty, short-term, acute care, non-federal U.S. hospitals treating a broad spectrum of cardiology patients.
Thomson Reuters researchers analyzed 2009 and 2010 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data, Medicare cost reports, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare data. They scored hospitals in key performance areas: risk-adjusted mortality, risk-adjusted complications, core measures (a group of measures that assess process of care), percentage of coronary bypass patients with internal mammary artery use, 30-day mortality rates, 30-day readmission rates, severity-adjusted average length of stay, and wage- and severity-adjusted average cost.
The Thomson Reuters 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals were classified into three comparison groups. (The order of hospitals in the list does not reflect performance ranking.)

Re: Nigeria, SWFs, and the Resource Curse? Two New Papers
Nigeria, SWFs, and the Resource Curse? Two New Papers
“Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) is not the magic wand that can turn around the economy and welfare of the majority of Nigerians, but true federalism. If Nigeria can be run like a true federal democracy, the country would be transformed, but the rogues in power want to continue using public funds to play their games of Monopoly and Totopoly in and out of the corridors of power.
What we need in Nigeria is not the SWF, but accountability and transparency in public service and an end to the impunity of the corrupt ruling class.
$3 billion was collected as bribes by public officers in a single year in Nigeria!
Without accountability and transparency in governance, the SWF will be mismanaged and looted by the same kleptomaniacs in power..”

This is a joint post with Stephanie Majerowicz. Nigeria, perhaps the world's poster child for the oil curse, is the latest country to deploy a sovereign wealth fund as a tool to try to better manage national income. At the same time, Nigeria is struggling with depleted savings and growing fiscal concerns, even in a time of high oil prices. Will the sovereign wealth fund help Nigeria get back on track? What are the chances it won't be raided by politicians with short-time horizons, as in the past? Could cash transfers help? LinkedIn Co-founder Hoffman and CEO Weiner Win Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award
Making connections: LinkedIn Corporation Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Reid Hoffman and CEO Jeff Weiner named National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 Technology Award winners
Hoffman and Weiner honored for creating an innovative social network that revolutionizes how professionals interact
PALM SPRINGS, CA (November 12, 2011) /PRNewswire/ — Reid Hoffman and Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn Corporation have been named the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 Technology Award winners. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year is the country’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. The award encourages entrepreneurial activity and recognizes leaders and visionaries who demonstrate innovation, financial success and personal commitment as they create and build world-class businesses.
Jeff Weiner and Reid Hoffman (not pictured) were named winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award in the Technology category. Weiner and Hoffman also won the EOY award in the Overall category.
Hoffman and Weiner were recognized for their development of a social network aimed primarily for professionals, a goal not previously attempted. Hoffman’s keen sense of timing and his shared commitment with Weiner to run a transparent business operation have helped LinkedIn become the massive success it is today. Hoffman and Weiner were honored at the Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards gala, the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum® held in Palm Springs, California. The Forum is the nation’s premier gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies. Awards were given in nine additional categories. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award winners were selected by an independent panel of judges from approximately 300 regional award recipients.
“Reid Hoffman and Jeff Weiner have created an invaluable tool for business professionals around the world. Their keen insight into consumer needs and their ability to continually look for new opportunities for growth and expansion have made them deserving winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 Award in the Technology category,” said Bryan Pearce, Americas Director, Entrepreneur Of The Year, Ernst & Young LLP.
Hoffman and Weiner also were named the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011 Overall Award winners.
A perfect partnership
Hoffman first conceived of LinkedIn in 2003 when he recognized the need for a networking site that would connect the world’s professionals and make them more productive and successful by giving them a venue to create a personal brand. Hoffman set out with the ambitious goal of attracting a minimum of 500,000 users. By 2008, 33 million people were using LinkedIn as a tool to create economic opportunities and build business relationships.
In order to take the company to the next level, Hoffman sought a CEO who shared his passion for improving people’s professional lives and who recognized the tremendous growth opportunities for the networking site. Weiner joined LinkedIn as CEO in 2008 and has since helped grow the company to become the world’s largest professional network on the internet. Currently, more than 100 million members in more than 200 countries use LinkedIn as a tool to transform their professional lives. Perhaps most importantly, Hoffman and Weiner deeply value their members and provide them with the utmost data security, recognizing that data is the driving force for the company’s success.
Continued evolution
Thousands of enterprises and professional organizations currently rely on LinkedIn’s hiring and marketing solutions. Although LinkedIn has already made a significant impact on the day-to-day lives of professionals around the world, the company continues to expand rapidly, with the equivalent of one new member joining the site every second. Using their keen insight, Hoffman and Weiner have recognized the new opportunities for global expansion by leveraging evolving technologies and fostering viral member growth.
National Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011 Technology finalists
In addition to Hoffman and Weiner, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Technology national finalists were: Chairman, CEO and Founder Syed Ali of Cavium, Inc., a San Jose, California-based provider of highly integrated semiconductor processors that enable intelligent networking, communications, storage, video and security applications; CEO Fred Luddy of Service-now.com, a San Diego, California-based company that helps organizations transform the way IT delivers business value to end users; and Chairman and CEO Steve Singh of Concur, a Redmond, Washington-based leading software provider of integrated travel and expense management solutions that enable businesses to automate and streamline the process for submitting and approving employee expense reports.

The Obama Administration Must Change Policy on Sudan Now
Act of War by Sudan Requires Change Of Course For Obama Administration’s Sudan Policy
Action Not Words is Needed Now
(Washington, DC) – United to End Genocide President Tom Andrews released the following statement today condemning Omar al-Bashir’s attacks on civilians in South Sudan and calling on the United States to hold Bashir and other perpetrators responsible for their crimes:
“Omar al-Bashir has driven hundreds of thousands of people from their homes in the last six months, and now he is attacking these same men, women and children in the South Sudan villages where they have sought refuge. These attacks are not only an escalation of Bashir’s brutality against civilians, they are an act of war against a sovereign nation whose independence the United States hailed and celebrated only four months ago. What more evidence does Secretary Clinton and the Obama administration need that its Sudan policy has failed and needs to be fundamentally changed? The United States needs to be demanding accountability not offering more accommodation in light of these latest atrocities. Words are simply not enough.
“The Bashir regime’s actions – terrorizing and killing civilians, bombing refugee areas and signaling its willingness to go to war with South Sudan – must be met with action by the Obama Administration, not its current tepid policy of holding out normalization as a reward for Sudan’s good behavior.
“The Obama Administration must immediately impose strong sanctions on Bashir and other leaders responsible for attacks against civilians, and play a leadership role to forge UN Security Council action including sanctions, the deployment of a civilian protection force, an arms embargo for all of Sudan and an investigation into the atrocities still being committed in South Kordofan and Blue Nile.”
Background:
On Tuesday, the Sudanese military bombed the town of Gaffa in South Sudan where approximately 400 civilians from Blue Nile had taken refuge. Two days later, Bashir’s forces bombed Yida, a refugee camp in South Sudan where over 15,000 civilians from South Kordofan and Blue Nile have fled. Today, according to the South Sudan army, Bashir’s forces attacked a military base in the South killing at least 18 and wounding another 73. This week’s attacks are the first military assaults on South Sudan since its independence and represent a serious breach of international law and could lead to a renewal of conflict. Since the beginning of the year, Bashir’s regime have forced over half a million civilians to flee their homes in Darfur, South Kordofan, Abyei and Blue Nile.
###
The Save Darfur Coalition and Genocide Intervention Network are now United to End Genocide. The organization remains committed to its work to end the crisis in Darfur and bring peace to all of Sudan as well as to end violence in other areas of mass atrocities. The merger creates the world’s largest anti-genocide activist organization, with a membership base of hundreds of thousands of committed activists, an unparalleled nationwide student movement, more than 190 faith-based, advocacy and human rights partner organizations, and a network of institutional investors collectively representing more than $3 trillion in assets under management.
