WHO KILLED DR. ENOCH OKPARA?

WHO KILLED DR. ENOCH OKPARA?

“For murder, though it hath no tongue; will speak with most miraculous organ.”
- William Shakespeare

On June 13, 2020, a day after Nigeria’s democracy day commemoration, we were jolted to the sad news of the gruesome murder of our classmate and colleague Dr Enoch Okpara, a senior consultant obstetrician and gynecologist with Federal Medical Centre, Gusau Zamfara State at his Mareri area residence in Gusau.

A member of 1995 graduating class of University of Nigeria College of Medicine Enugu, Enoch began residency (postgraduate medical) training in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Ilorin Kwara State and rose to the position of a senior registrar before he relocated to Federal Medical Center, Gusau Zamfara State where he completed his residency and was subsequently appointed a consultant. He rose to the rank of a senior consultant before his untimely death.

Unknown assailants invaded Enoch’s Gusau residence where he lived alone and inflicted on him with multiple machete cuts. He died helplessly in his pool of cold blood. Driven by beastly immorality, the killers evacuated him to his courtyard and set him ablaze utilizing the fuel from his power generator. How much crueler can one get? What could be the motive behind the gruesome killing? Are you outraged? Or will you let it slide by? We, the 1995 Class of University of Nigeria College of Medicine Enugu will not! We insist on unmasking the masterminds and killers of Enoch. We want to know who killed Enoch!

Enoch was a dedicated and hardworking physician. He was an honest and principled professional who discharged his duties diligently. His remains were laid to rest in his country home, Item, Abia State on Friday June 18, 2020. His young wife Ann and three daughters (ages 8, 6 and 4) were inconsolable. They yearn for answers to myriad of questions. Who killed their husband/father? What is the motive? The Justice for Enoch Coalition is poised to find answers to these burning question and ultimately obtain justice for Enoch.

Today as we mourn the untimely passing of our colleague and classmate, Dr Enoch Okpara, we are gravely concerned for the safety of other Nigerians especially Enoch’s colleagues at FMC Gusau who now live in constant danger. Nobody knows who the next victim will be!

We thank the Zamfara State Government and the Federal Law Enforcement agents for their great efforts towards tracking the perpetrators of this dastardly act. We implore all well-meaning Nigerians with any useful information about the murder to please reach out to the nearest police station or call 0803 925 0250 and 0803 625 3753. The information you provide and your identity will be treated with the utmost discretion and confidentiality. The JFE Coalition commits to pay up to N1,000,000 (1 million naira) to any person or group with useful information leading to arrest of the murderers. Please help us give murder the miraculous organ of righteous outrage on behalf of Enoch! He sure deserves it!
