Written and directed by Femi Odugbemi, the love story follows Akin, an indulged playboy from an affluent family, who meets a beautiful young community activist, Nkem. Their adventures drag Akin into a whirlwind experience that unravels the world, as he knows it.  Shot entirely in Lagos, Nigeria, Gidi Blues was one of four African films shown at this year's festival: Cotton Twines by Leila Djansi (Ghana), Dar Noir by Hamadi Mwapachu (Tanzania), and Disney's Queen Of Katwe starring Lupita N'yongo and David Oyelowo.

ACA was also responsible for curating an enlightening keynote discussion on Thursday, September 22nd at the HBO Theater in midtown Manhattan. Our Africa: Opportunity On The Continent, featured guest speakers Yinka Adegoke, the editor of Quartz Africa, actor Hakeem Kae-Kazime (Hotel Rwanda, Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men Origins), esteemed filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi, and ACA Co-Founder and CEO, Colin Gayle. Nomndeni Mdakhi, founder of Edits Talk, moderated the panel.

Mr. Gayle, who has brokered many groundbreaking entertainment deals on the continent, says, "We are thankful for the platform Urbanworld Film Festival provided Africa Creative Agency to have a real conversation with industry leaders and tastemakers around the opportunities that exist in Africa and the role that content will play."

The Urbanworld Film Festival, founded in 1997 by Stacy Spikes, is the largest internationally competitive festival of its kind, hosted in New York City. The five-day festival includes narrative features, documentaries, short films, spotlight screenings and conversations, live staged screenplay readings, the Urbanworld Digital track focused on digital and social media, and Urbanworld Music, which highlights emerging talent in live performances during after party events.

The mission of ACA is to conceptualize, create, and leverage intersections between African culture and global markets.
