MOVIEMAKERS HALL OF FAME - FILMMAKER MADU C CHIKWENDU FOR INDUCTION

Lagos, July 2, 2013-


Veteran Filmmaker Chief Eddie Ugboma (OON) Founder and President Moviemakers Hall of Fame has invited Filmmaker Madu C Chikwendu to join the elite and select group .Madu C Chikwendu will be inducted on July. 12, 2013 at VIP Hall, National Theatre. Lagos.


For Madu: 
I am pleased to accept this nomination which I consider a birthday gift coming a week or two after my forty fifth birthday and almost two and half decades after a twenty year old graduate of Literature from University of Portharcourt came to Lagos to find fame and fortune .I thank God , my understanding and very supportive wife Daisy and my family "
 

We gathered that from Chief Eddie Ugboma (OON) that other 2013 inductees include Nollywood Superstar Kanayo O Kanayo, National President Associational of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners Prince Jide Kosoko, Former Managing Director Nigerian Film Corporation Associate Professor Hyginius Ekwuazi, and Filmmaker Kingsley Ogoro amongst others. 
 

Established in 2002 the Hall of Fame has as Grand Patron Industrialist and famous Playwright Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi and DAAR Communications Plc boss Media Mogul High Chief Raymond Dokpesi. 
The Hall of Fame has a Board that includes: Former DG National Lottery Commission and Ace Producer Chief Pater Igho, Former Managing Director Nigerian Film Corporation Filmmaker Brendan Shehu, Filmmaker Jimi Odumosu, Filmmaker and Scion of the Tafawa Balewa dynasty Alhaji Sadiq Balewa. 


To celebrate this auspicious event Miss Safety International (Nigeria) Juliet Ofodile will host a cocktail for the top Nollywood administrator Madu C Chikwendu immediately after the induction.

Madu C Chikwendu is a 1989 graduate of Literature from University of Portharcourt with BA Hons.In 1998 he obtained an MA in Literature from University of Lagos. He is an Alumnus of the prestigious Cannes Producers Workshop. Other trainings include MNET New Directions, British Council Scriptwriting Workshop, and US Consulate Public Affairs Documentary Film Workshop amongst others.


A Nollywood pioneer Madu started his career at the national broadcaster Nigerian Television Authority as a Scriptwriter in 1990 penning popular programmes like New Masquerade, Tales by Moonlight, Third Eye and many others.


He co-scripted many of the early Nollywood blockbusters including "Taboo" “Circle of Doom” and many others.In 1995 he produced and directed the offbeat Comedy "Sculptorico" and his second movie ( Supervising Producer ) “When the Sun Sets “ launched the career of Super star Kate Henshaw . As Producer / Director of "Millionaires Are Saints " he discovered the Nollywood star Clem Ohameze a school mate.Madu supported Actor Jim Iykes early career by giving him a leading role in "Zero Hour" in 2003.Madu has Produced and / or directed over twenty movies including the seminal cult movie “Rampage” , "Blind Date” , “Messenger of Doom’, ‘Bound by Destiny’ ,” Love Paradise” and many more.


He is the initiator of Directors Guild of Nigeria which he cofounded with five others referred to as “The Angry Young Men “, two term National President of Association of Movie Producers Nigeria and until March 2013 Regional Secretary (West Africa) Federation of Pan African Filmmakers FEPACI .The first Nigerian and the first Anglophone to hold such a position.He is 2nd Vice Chairman (Steering Committee) Motion Picture Council of Nigeria and was Nigeria's representative at International Federation of Film Producers Associations in Paris, France.


As a Resource Person Madu is has been an expert to World Intellectual Property Organisation WIPO ( Geneva) , ECOWAS , CEMAC ( Central Africa) ,Southern Illinois University Carbondale USA , Nollywood Conference Hollywood USA, International Intellectual Property Institute Washington DC , Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies , CASA Africa Las Palmas Spain and many parts of the world.He has also been a Resource Person to Nigerian Copyright Commission , Nigerian Film Corporation , National Film and Video Censors Board and National Broadcasting Commission , SMC / Pan Atlantic University Lagos.Screenwriters Guild of Nigeria , Directors Guild of Nigeria , SITHENGI , Zuma. International Film Festival , Abuja International Film Festival and FESPACO .In 2007 he was a guest of the French National Cinema Centre at the. Cannes Film Festtival . Madu C Chikwendu was a member of the federal governments delegations to ; SITHENGI Film Festival Capetown South Africa 2004, Cannes Film Festival 2005 , African Union / FEPACI meeting in Niamey Niger for the Feasibility of the Establishment of the African Film Commission 2010 amongst others. In the last ten years he has been a regular delegate top Berlin Film Festival , Cannes Film Festival and major international festivals around the world, He is CEO LIFF Festivals Group comprising Lagos International Film Festival , Leap and Reel teens Film Festival ).He is the Founder Miss Safety International Beauty Pageant


Madu C Chikwendu is Chairman Board of Trustee Federation of Film Festivals and Events of Nigeria , BOT Member Association of Movie Journalists AMJ and a former board member Assoiation of Nollywood Core Producers ANCOP .He has received over thirty wards and honours including TAVA Lifetime Achievement Awards , Nollywood Outstanding Personality Awards , Media Legend ( USA ) Award for Outstanding Contributions to Development of African Cinema, FAN (USA) Special Recognition Awards amongst others .He is happily married to Daisy Madu-Chikwendu former Vice President Screen writers Guild of Nigeria SWGN , Founder Women In Media Conference and Awards.
