Tunde Kelani Launches Online TV

PRESS RELEASE
Tunde Kelani TV.

Celebrated filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, has joined the growing band of online television owners with rich African cultural themed contents for viewers globally.

The new online platform, Tundekelani.tv billed for launch on Friday is web - based and optimum on all mobile devices. The video channel is designed to offer viewers of all ages a refreshing viewing experience of past and current works of the award winning film director and other cultural themed contents from different owners across Africa and the Diaspora.

The tundekelani.tv platform also offers viewers, business owners, private or corporate organisations the opportunity to advertise and promote their brands.

"It is an attempt to respond to the yearnings of our teeming fans of rich African themed contents on the go. Distributing films or other contents physically are becoming increasingly difficult, revenues are lost on a daily basis and content owners are at the mercy of the menacing activities of pirates. I think it is just natural, expedient and sensible to take contents closer to the consumers on demand and in terms that suit all the parties involved.

Research, Kelani said, has shown that with a simple mobile device, online TV viewers can watch any content online without scruples.

To subscribers of tundekelani.tv., there will be a wide range of genre, including movies, high quality drama, interviews and documentaries that focus on issues mainstream media fails to cover adequately. Besides Kelani's titles such as Oleku, Agogo Ewo, Saworoide, Thunderbolt( Magun), Narrow Path, Campus Queen and Maami, his latest experience with 'filmed play', Yeepa, an adaptation of Prof. Femi Osofisan ' classic play, Yeepa Solarin Nbo will be on the play list. Coming to esteemed lovers of the new channel is Amos Tutuola's Palmwine Drinkards.

As the new online destination for African cultural themed contents, Kelani urged all other content owners to get on board.

President Buhari, Mandate and Enforce Sexual Harassment Policy in Nigeria Universities and Schools

President Buhari, Mandate and Enforce Sexual Harassment Policy in Nigeria Universities and Schools

~ By Dr. John Egbeazien Oshodi.

For far too long, sexual violence or sexual harassment has endured with no one accountable at the policy, enforcement or jurisdictional level.
Naturally, females are mostly at the receiving end of sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence in places like universities.

Laws on sexual violence including sexual harassment exist mostly in name as they are chronically unenforced by law enforcement agencies and disregarded by the courts in Nigeria. Recently, the National Assembly passed a broader bill on sexual violence against sexual harassment, sexual tourism and other related offences.

"The Mindset of the Enemy": White Supremacists Against the Black Race

Former South African President P.W. Botha and the first black President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.

If you have not read "The Mindset Of The Enemy" By Femi Fani Kayode posted on http://www.nairaland.com/2501604/mindset-enemy-femi-fani-kayode, please read it and sleep over it.

It is one of the best articles on politics on Nairaland and to me, one of the best articles on the intellectual and sociopolitical challenges of blacks in Africa and the Diaspora in our existence on earth in contrast to the Caucasians, Arabs and Asians.

"Pretoria has been made by the White mind for the White man. We are not obliged even the least to try to prove to anybody and to the Blacks that we are superior people. We have demonstrated that to the Blacks in a thousand and one ways.
The Republic of South Africa that we know of today has not been created by wishful thinking. We have created it at the expense of intelligence, sweat and blood. Were they Afrikaners who tried to eliminate the Australian Aborigines? Are they Afrikaners who discriminate against Blacks and call them Niggers in the States?"

~  former South African President P.W. Botha to his Cabinet. This reprint was written by David G. Mailu for the Sunday Times, a South African newspaper, dated August 18, 1985.
"These are manifestly racist, demonically-inspired and utterly despicable submissions coming from malevolent, evil, dark, twisted, tormented and ignorant souls. They tell us exactly how many of our detractors view us, even up until today, even if they cannot afford to say so openly.
And we must also accept the fact that oftentimes our own behaviour confirms these negative stereotypes."

David Oluwafemi Fani-Kayode, Nigerian human rights activist, democratic politician, essayist, poet and lawyer.

It is a must read for every literate person and I wonder why it never made the front page on Nairaland.
Please, don't post any comment until you have read it.

President Buhari in Perfect Control of Government Even Without Ministers -EnergyNet

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at work.

PRESS RELEASE

Federal Ministry of Power Nigeria confirms as supporter of Powering Africa meeting alongside BPE, NBET and Ministry of Finance

Nigeria meeting which is taking place on 14 and 15 September at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja

ABUJA, Nigeria, August 7, 2015/ -- Last week, the EnergyNet Nigeria team met with industry stakeholders to discuss the upcoming Powering Africa: Nigeria (http://www.poweringafrica-nigeria.com) meeting which is taking place on 14 and 15 September at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. The week was exceptionally productive and with a lot of balls metaphorically in the air, the overwhelming message is that all public sector institutions are committed to maintaining momentum in this transitional phase for the power sector.

Logo: http://www.photos.apo-opa.com/plog-content/images/apo/logos/poweringafricanigeria.jpg

In the absence of appointed Ministers under the new Presidents administration, the Vice President is taking an important role in assessing and handing over the power sector. It is clear that there is confidence in President Buhari’s vision as there is on-going consultation between the Office of the Vice President and state arms such as the Ministry of Power, the Presidential Task Force on Power, National Electricity Regulatory Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority and the Ministry of Finance.

The public sector confirmed to EnergyNet that although the waters appear still, the Vice President, Permanent Secretaries and public sector are still very much active in ensuring that momentum is not lost and that the hand over to the new Minister – when appointed – will be smooth, efficient and with purpose.

With the Ministry continuing to move forward, under the stewardship of the Permanent Secretary of Power supported by President Buhari as evidenced by his accompaniment of the President on his trip to Washington DC, the Powering Africa Nigeria meeting now boasts the official support of Ambassador (Dr) Godknows Igali who will speak to the transition to the new government and the immediate steps for the sector.

With the official support of the Ministry(s) of Finance and Power, BPE, NERC, NBET, ICRC, NSIA and the Presidential Task Force on Power, Powering Africa: Nigeria will be the very first gathering of the power sector since the April elections.

This meeting will help to set the tone for the new administration’s role in the Transitional Electricity Market, as it creates a platform for dialogue between the international and local power players, the essential government entities and the private sector.

Emirates’ Eight Daily London Flights Set To Become All A380

An Emirates A380 lands at London Gatwick Airport.
Third daily A380 to London Gatwick from January 1st 2016

Emirates’ eight daily flights to London will all be served by the highly popular A380s from January 1st 2016, cementing the airline’s status as the largest international A380 operator into the British capital.

Combined with the airline’s double daily A380 services to Manchester, Emirates will offer 70 A380 flights per week into the UK, more than any other country on the Emirates network. The third A380 into London Gatwick will replace Emirates flights EK011/EK012 from 1st January 2016, providing customers with a consistent A380 experience no matter what time of day they travel.

“The deployment of a third A380 to London Gatwick now means that travellers to and from London can enjoy our world-class A380 on every flight,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West. “In the last five years we have increased capacity into London by over 25 percent. This demonstrates the attractiveness of the A380 with its ability to serve customer demand at slot-constrained points without the need for adding another frequency.”

“The additional A380 service also means that passengers can now experience Emirates’ flagship A380 experience all the way through to London from popular inbound destinations such as Bangkok, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Shanghai, further strengthening our position as a provider of world class travel.’’

Emirates has steadily grown its London A380 operations since first deploying the aircraft on a scheduled service to Heathrow in December 2008 – the second A380 destination to join the airline’s network.

Emirates’ First Class, Business Class and Skywards Platinum and Gold members will also benefit from access to the largest lounge on the Emirates network located at London Gatwick Airport. Customers travelling in First Class and Business Class can also take advantage of the airline’s dedicated Chauffeur Drive drop off point, located in close proximity to the Emirates check-in desks.

The Emirates A380 offers spacious seating in Economy Class, access to the world’s only onboard Shower Spas for First Class passengers and the Onboard Lounge where First Class and Business Class passengers can socialise at 40,000 feet. Passengers throughout all classes can also enjoy access to over 2,000 channels of films, TV shows, music and games through ice, the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system as well as free Wi-Fi connectivity and gourmet cuisine.

As with all Emirates flights, passengers benefit from a generous baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50kg in First Class.

The eighth A380 service into London is another major investment for Emirates in the UK, where it operates 119 weekly flights via six gateways; London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.

Emirates currently has 35 A380 destinations across its network with Copenhagen joining the airlines A380 network from 1st December.
