My Father's Day Selfies
MY FATHER'S DAY SELFIES
#fathersday
My uncles say I look like my great father, Sunday Eke, who was one of the brave Nigerian youths enlisted in the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF) who fought and survived the battles against the Japanese in Burma during the World War 2.
But I don't quite agree that I look like my father.
He was fairer
But I am taller
My father was built like the famous African American Academy Award winning actor, Denzel Washington; with the same height; same dentition and same smile. Ladies loved him.
I never saw him lay a fist on my beloved mother. But one day he annoyed her and she sat outside on the payment. Then he came and lifted her and carried her with smiles into the room. I was amused.
My father loved movies only on the big screens of movie theaters and there were four in our locality on the Lagos Island of Lagos city in the south western region of Nigeria. He often took the whole family to see American #Hollywood western and war films, Indian #Bollywood films and Chinese action films at the Kings Cinema, Sheila Cinema, Plaza Cinema and Royal Cinema.
Franco Nero in Django (1966), Dharmendra in Sholay (1975) and Wang Yu in One-Armed Swordsman (1967) were very popular movies in the 1970s. They attracted crowds in the cinemas . We must have seen over 200 movies before my father relocated us from Obalende on the Lagos Island to Morocco near Shomolu on the mainland of Lagos state.
My passion for movies came from my father and the unforgettable memories fill me with flashbacks of nostalgia on every Father's Day.

PRESS STATEMENT: NDDC: PROBE AND THE FALSE ALARM OF COVID-19
Niger Delta Justice Forum
No. 86 Nwaniba Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
PRESS STATEMENT.
NDDC: PROBE AND THE FALSE ALARM OF COVID-19
Incontrovertible fact: People lie.
Incontestable fact: Magic fails.
Irrefutable fact: Liars and magicians employ distraction in their art.
Undeniable fact: People get wiser.
People lie to deceive friends, family and the public and lie for attention, deflection, power and profit. Sometimes, people can come together as a village of accusers and liars acting ruthlessly in bad faith. It is hard to look inside somebody’s brain. It is even harder with the sane ones than the crazy ones. Sadly, people can think rationally and still choose to concoct stories, events and circumstances and out of anxiety, desperation and paranoia believe their falsity and expect discerning members of the public to do the same. Robert Ludlum in ‘’The Tristan Betrayal” posited that any fool can tell the truth: it takes talent to lie well.

NDDC N40bn Fraud Scandal: Staff Make More Shocking Revelations, Indict Interim Management Committee
NDDC N40bn Fraud Scandal: Staff Make More Shocking Revelations, Indict Interim Management Committee
More revelations have continued to emerge over the N40 billion fraud allegation against the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Recall that the Upper Legislative Chamber had on penultimate week ago set up a seven-man adhoc committee to investigate the financial transactions, which amounted to N40billion carried out by the IMC on behalf of the NDDC within the last three months and report back to the House in one month
This followed a motion sponsored by Senator Thompson George Sekibo (PDP Rivers East).
According to Sekibo, aside from financial recklessness, the IMC also indulges in an alleged arbitrary sack of the management staff of the commission.
However, DAILY POST has obtained a statement by some concerned staff of the company narrating how the organisation is being managed by those they described as four-man clique.
Again, NDDC Entangled in Web of Scandals
Again, NDDC Entangled in Web of Scandals
- By Kelvin Ebiri, South South Bureau Chief, The Guardian Newspaper on Sunday, May 17, 2020.
Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, Federal Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
Amid the anticipation of the much-touted forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the agency has been enmeshed in yet another web of scandal involving questionable awards and payments for unbudgeted contracts.
At a time when people are losing faith in the ability of legislative and political actors to ensure the reign of corporate governance in the NDDC, the National Assembly against all odds, has ordered a probe into alleged financial malfeasance in the outfit, particularly, the alleged spending of N40b within three months, by the Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei-led Interim Management Committee (IMC).
