Top 5 Film Locations in Nigerian Movies

The summer edition of Wings Magazine of Arik Airline highlighted top five film locations in Nollywood. http://www.arikwings.com/5434-2/.

No Nollywood?
There are not yet any walking tours dedicated to Nigeria’s popular films, so we asked Nollywood expert Michael Chima Ekenyerengozi – editor of popular blog Talk Of The Town By Orikinla (totnaija.blogspot.com.ng) and the industry annual the Nollywood Mirror – to pick his favourite movie locations in Nigeria…

Osun River, Osun Oshogbo Grove,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Osun State of South Western Nigeria

As seen in: Arugba, Tunde Kelani’s 2008 movie about a king of an imaginary town who fights corruption. The Osun river and the annual Osun Osogbo festival that takes place near it, is central to the plot.

Benin Kingdom
and the home of Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi in Calabar

As seen in: Invasion 1897, the epic 2014 film By Lancelot Imasuen about an African Art student who recounts the British invasion of Benin in 1897, and exile of great King Oba Ovonramwen.

Iyo Kiri, Okoroama, Ogbogo
in Okrika Kingdom of Rivers State in the Niger Delta

As seen in: Gifted, the 2015 directorial debut by Ibinabo Fiberesima-Egbuka.
The fantasy adventure shot on locations in Iyo Kiri, Okoroma and Ogbogbo in her home town of Okrika, kingdom of the Niger Delta of Nigeria. The Irish-Nigerian director is the first female president of the Actors’ Guild Of Nigeria.

Toro, in Bauchi State
As seen in: Mister Johnson, this 1990 American drama film adaptation of a 1939 novel by Joyce Cary, starring Pierce Brosnan as a British colonial officer alongside Nigerian star Maynard Eziashi. Bauchi State was also the location of Palaver, the first feature film made in Nigeria in 1926 by Geoffrey Barkas.

Qua Falls in Calabar, Cross River State
As seen in: I’ll Take My Chances, a dance romance made in 2011 by director Desmond Elliot, about a troubled young woman who must take the position of priestess of the land, or allow calamity to befall her village.

The Political Amnesia and Ignorance of Unrealistic Critics of President Muhammadu Buhari

This is my reply to Otumba Dele Momodu's article on "Before They Mislead President Buhari" published by THISDAYLIVE on
http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/06/11/before-they-mislead-president-buhari/

The long essay was not necessary, because Otunba Dele Momodu was just repeating his words.

President Muhammadu Buhari's administration cannot function appropriately and effectively without an approved federal budget and that just happened only last month.
He is neither a miracle worker nor a magician for Nigerians to expect instant wonders of economic miracles.
Only ignorant fools ask for harvest when you are still planting your seeds for new crops.
As the famous Nigerian Yoruba Juju musician, Chief Ebenezer Obey said in one of his all time classic songs,  "Aimo Asiko lo ndamu Eda", meaning ignorance of the times and seasons is what is troubling mankind.
You cannot judge or write off a runner by the first lap of a marathon even if he is Usain Bolt.

The first achievement of President Buhari is giving state governments bailouts to pay the arrears of unpaid salaries and also paying the salaries of federal civil servants.

The second achievement is the guaranty of national security by attacking and disabling the Boko Haram in the north east and restoring the hope of millions of citizens who fled to neighbouring countries when Boko Haram captured their communities.

He achieved all that without waiting for the approval and implementation of his first budget. And it is unfortunate that those criticizing and even insulting President Buhari ignore these herculean feats, because of their poor intellectual comprehension and lack of ratiocination.

The socioeconomic hardship majority of Nigerians are presently suffering is not caused by the new government of President Buhari, but by the global fall in price of oil from USD100 during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan to less than USD40 when the new ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) came to power one year ago. And also the  wicked economic sabotage of the political cabal of the defeated former ruling party, People's Democratic Party (PDP) that is sponsoring the rebellion of the enemies of national unity and progress attacking oil pipelines in the Niger Delta to scuttle the on going trials of the members of their cabal for various corrupt practices during the maladministration of the corrupt and incompetent government of the PDP in their 16 years of ruling Nigeria from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2015.

Let us be more realistic and still be optimistic and stop being pessimistic.
The way forward is to join hands and support the progressive efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari in the nation building of a New Nigeria.

Why Biafra Cannot Stand

Igbos  never learn from history.
Political amnesia is a common malaise among Igbos who often repeat the terrible mistakes of the past without learning the lessons from history.

Igbos are their own worst enemies.
It was not the Nigerian Armed Forces that defeated Biafra during the Nigerian civil war of 1967-1970, but corruption and betrayal among the divided Igbos in Biafra.
The ignorance of this fact will end the careless agitations of those clamouring for the sovereign nation of Biafra.
Like those asking for Biafra when there are millions of people in Delta State bearing Igbo names, but living in denial of Ndigbo.

If they say they are not Igbo, then why are they bearing Igbo names?

"A House Divided Cannot Stand."
~ Matthew 12: 25.

Misappropriation of Federal Revenue Allocation for National Security is Treason

Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser, received an extra-budgetary allocation of $2.1 billion from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) within nine months after approvals by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Misappropriation of federal revenue allocation for national security is treason.
It is the worst crime to commit against a sovereign state.

What former President Goodluck Jonathan did caused the unfortunate deaths thousands of innocent Nigerians, including women and children who would have been alive today.
Only the bereaved families, relations and friends of the unfortunate victims know the depths of their great loss .
Mohammed Sambo Dasuki said he only obeyed the instructions of former President Jonathan.

If Mr. Jonathan did not lose the 2015 presidential election, the rest of the world would not have known about these criminal misappropriations, and the national security of Nigerians would have been further jeopardized with more loss of precious lives, because of the evil greed for political power by Mr. Jonathan and his cabal of political contractors and cultists from the Niger Delta to Abuja.

Political amnesia is a common disease among majority of Nigerians who forget the horrible acts of terrible political leaders of the past and fail to learn from the political calamities of the past..

I have not forgotten the unknown little girl the demonic Boko Haram strapped explosive device around her and sent her as a suicide bomber to blow up people at the market, but she chose to run away and blew up herself to sacrifice her life to save others. Oh! What a horrifying way for an innocent Nigerian child to die. But I know majority of us have forgotten her. To me, she is a martyr and I will never forget her
If only she was identified, her name should have been used in memorial tribute to her and the other innocent children used and killed as suicide bombers by the demonic Boko Haram terrorists in the north eastern region of Nigeria.

Those who forget the lessons of history will repeat the mistakes of the past in the future.
