Giovanni Rosman: The Canadian Man Who Came From Hollywood North To Nollywood

GIOVANNI ROSMAN was the first Canadian born actor to act in Nollywood movies.

Rosman studied at the University of Victoria and worked at the British Columbia Ferries before relocating to Nigeria and got married to a Nigerian woman.

Rosman was passionate about life and expressed this through a myriad of artistic and altruistic endeavors. He became the President of the non-profit, Helping Others Worldwide for the welfare of impoverished communities across the globe.

Rosman actually came from Hollywood North.  Hollywood North is a colloquialism used to describe film production industries and/or film locations north of its namesake, Hollywood, California. The term has been applied principally to the film industry in Canada, specifically to the areas of Vancouver and Toronto. The level of Canadian production has increased since the ratification of the Canada–United States Free Trade Agreement in 1988. The total value of foreign location and service production in Canada, consisting of films and television programs filmed in Canada mainly by foreign producers, was $4.86 billion in 2019. Of this, British Columbia accounted for $2.81 billion or 58% of the total while Ontario accounted for $985 million or 20% of the total revenues.

Rosman featured in several movies in Nollywood, including "Systemic Lies", 2018, " the award winning "The Missing God", 2016, that won the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) prize for Best Film In African Language and "A Trip To Libya", 2018.

His three beautiful daughters, Nwandiuto Cassandra Rosman, Sunshine Rosman and Honeybell Rosman who have taken up the mantle of the legacy of their father in the Nigerian film industry and are known as "The Rosman Sisters of Nollywood".

They are like the three sisters, Graces of the classical Greek mythology, gddesses of Charm, Beauty, Nature, Human creativity, goodwill, and fertility, together known as the Charites: Aglaea ("Shining"), Euphrosyne ("Joy"), and Thalia ("Blooming").

One of his daughters, Michaela rosman played the supporting actress role "The Legend of Gatuso".

Giovanni Rosman passed on in Nigeria last year 2019.
