Why We Must Advocate and Support the Compulsory Education of Every Girl Child in Nigeria and the Rest of Africa

Why We Must Advocate and Support the Compulsory Education of Every Girl Child in Nigeria and the Rest of Africa

See the Big Picture:
  • Do you know that over 90% of the sociocultural, socioeconomic and sociopolitical crises in Nigeria and the rest of Africa have been caused by the neglect of the education of underprivileged girls?
  • Do you know that if Nigeria had not neglected the education of underprivileged girls there would not be the insurgency of Boko Haram.
  • There would not be the humanitarian emergencies of millions of illegal abortions from unwanted teenage pregnancies.
  • There would not be high maternal mortality rates.
  • There would not be widespread horrible conditions of millions of poor Nigerians living below the poverty line.
  • There would not be widespread inhuman practice of child labour.
  • There would not be thousands of cases of girl child marriages.

Now imagine a Nigeria without all these human crises.

The deprivation of education makes every underprivileged girl helpless and powerless to the dangers of illiteracy, unwanted pregnancy, illegal abortion, girl child marriage, maternal mortality, VVF, child labour, sex trafficking and domestic violence.

Our advocacy for compulsory free education for all underprivileged girls is not for charity or morality, but to address the fundamental problem of underdevelopment in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. Any nation that neglects the compulsory education of underprivileged girls will never become a developed nation.
