Nigerian Startup Excels After Participating in Africa’s First EdTech Incubator – Apply Now!

Applications to take part in the fourth cohort of Africa’s first EdTech incubator and seed investment programme, Injini, have recently opened. Through the programme, selected African startups operating in the education sector will have the opportunity to access financial and bespoke advisory support from industry experts and skilled business mentors.

To date, 23 startups aiming to improve educational outcomes on the continent have taken part in the programme.

It was a tweet from the founder of Cohort 2 participant, Scholar X, about how the Injini programme helped his business move to the next phase that led Farida Kabir, the CEO of OTRAC, to apply for a spot in Cohort 3. She says, “I was convinced it was the right place for me to be, mostly because of how dedicated Injini is to EdTech.” OTRAC is an e-learning application that supports continuing medical education for African healthcare practitioners. On how the programme has helped her business, Kabir shares, “The experience and knowledge I gained during the programme is invaluable, it has helped me narrow down my target market and focus on the key segments to drive revenue in my startup.”

“We are so proud of how far Farida and the other members of the previous cohorts have come, and we can’t wait to work with our next cohort,” says Krista Davidson, Head of Programmes and Operations at Injini.

Entrepreneurs from across the African continent interested in taking part in Cohort 4 must have registered companies with at least one full-time founder who is fluent in English and able to travel to South Africa during certain phases of the programme. Injini is looking for evidence-based solutions that address key problems in African education with at least a minimum viable product or prototype. Ideally, the founding teams will have had previous work experience, with some members having strong backgrounds in education and/or technology. More mature EdTech startups (e.g. post-revenue, solidified business models, beginning to scale) are also welcome to apply.
