eUICC eSIMs Perception Vs Reality: Mind the GAP!

eUICC eSIMs Perception Vs Reality: Mind the GAP!

By Jeremy Potgieter, Eseye, SADC Regional Head

Anyone connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) and M2M communications industries will be acutely aware of the levels of ambition and investment being set for the Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card, more widely known as eUICC, or the eSIM.

A 2017 report from IHS Markit, for example, suggests that eSIM shipments will increase from 109 million in 2016, to 986 million by 2021. This growth will largely be driven by continuing IoT development, with eSIMs set to play a major role in ensuring the connectivity of billions of connected devices around the world.

The automotive industry is a prime example of a sector that has been keen to drive the technology forwards. With connected cars quickly becoming mainstream, the eUICC compliant eSIM has the potential to empower manufacturers by offering new opportunities to simplify logistics and optimise costs.

Interview With Africa's Richest Woman, Isabel dos Santos of Angola

WASHINGTON D.C., United States of America, October 20, 2018/ -- Many people around the world are familiar with Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian who is often described as Africa's richest man. But Isabel dos Santos, 45, an Angolan businesswoman, is Africa's richest woman and the eldest child of Angola’s former President José Eduardo dos Santos, who was in power from 1979 to 2017.

In 2013, according to research by Forbes, her net worth had reached more than three billion US dollars, making her Africa's first billionaire woman. Five years have passed ever since and her wealth has continued to grow.

What Pieter W. Botha Said About Black Africans is 90% Fact

“By now every one of us has seen it practically that the Blacks cannot rule themselves. Give them guns and they will kill each other. “They are good in nothing else but making noise, dancing, marrying many wives and indulging in sex. Let us all accept that the Blackman is a symbol of poverty, mental inferiority, laziness and emotional incompetence.”
~ Pieter W. Botha, (12 January 1916 – 31 October 2006), leader of South Africa from 1978 to 1989, serving as the last Prime Minister from 1978 to 1984 and the first executive State President from 1984 to 1989.

From Nigeria to Sudan; Rwanda to DRC and other countries in Africa, what Botha said is 90% fact.  Even in South Africa, black South Africans are attacking and killing fellow Africans. South Sudan is in chaos since becoming independent of the predominantly Islamic Republic of Sudan and Democratic Republic of the Congo  was the location of Africa's first world war, which led to the loss of some five million lives between 1994 and 2003, but many eastern areas are still plagued by violence as various rebel groups continue to operate there.

IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT TRAFFICKING…

The reality is that over 40 million people are victims of trafficking – girls are forced to marry instead of getting an education, communities are blind to the signs of trafficking happening next door and businesses and banks enable traffickers to succeed. To reap the rewards of a traffic-free world, we need to invest.

TOGETHER, WE CAN STOP THE TRAFFIK

Today, we're joining with multiple partners, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of organisations to mark #AntiSlaveryDay2018, the national awareness day of modern slavery in the UK. This year we're working with Barclays, Border Force, local councils and community groups to raise awareness of this global crime.

Africa: Think Exponentially, Not Incrementally: How the Rules of the Game Are Changing in Africa’s Banking Sector

Think exponentially, not incrementally: How the rules of the game are changing in Africa’s banking sector

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, October 17, 2018/ -- Think exponentially, not incrementally: How the rules of the game are changing in Africa’s banking sector

Sunil Kaushal, CEO, Africa & Middle East at Standard Chartered Bank.

An abundance of opportunities

We are fortunate to witness a period of monumental progress in Africa. The changes are visible across all sectors. African start-ups have raised a record breaking $560 million in 2017, an increase of 53% from the previous year. African governments have welcomed technology into the continent, hoping to inspire a revolution across all industries and sectors. Some of the brightest minds are determined to rewrite the rules of the game by harnessing technology to tackle some of the continents greatest challenges – with one of them being the distinct lack of access to banking services for large parts of the population. Only 4 years ago, an astounding 66% of Sub-Saharan Africans (http://bit.ly/2PDboRb) did not have a bank account. Now, Africa has been described as a “leapfrogger” with the application of a technology driven economic model to reach the unbanked.

Buhari Won the Presidential Elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011- Fomer US Ambassador Campbell

Channels TV:
In your book, you refer to Muhammadu Buhari as the candidate who won the most votes in each of the last three elections in Nigeria, and was defeated by his opponents rigging efforts, how did you arrive at that?

John Campbell:
You arrived at that conclusion by talking with people who were intimately connected with the entire process. Dt included individuals but also NGOs, NGOs that were foreign based and that were Nigeria based. And the rigging took place not so much at the actual polling places, but rather at the places where all the polling results were brought together.

Channels TV:
Was this information from the INEC perhaps?

John Campbell:
Well INEC, I was the US ambassador at the time, and working officially with INEC. All INEC gave me was their talking points.

Nigeria: Forward Ever, Backward Never!

FORWARD EVER, BACKWARD NEVER!

Those whining about hardship in Nigeria and expecting to magically land in the Promised Land flowing with milk and honey remind me of the ignorant and ungrateful pessimistic Jews lamenting after crossing the Red Sea and started cursing Prophet Moses and Aaron that they preferred to return to their days in Egypt.

Those who want to return to the days of looting by wheeler dealers in the corridors of power in Abuja are the enemies of our progress. And I say this without apologies and without regrets.
They are those who don't want to make sacrifices for the nation building of a New Nigeria. I know Who is Who in Nigerian political leadership since working for the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur's presidential campaign in 1990.

Obasanjo's Endorsement Of Atiku Will Not Distract President Buhari

State House Press Release

Obasanjo's Endorsement of Atiku Will Not Distract President Buhari

The Presidency has received the news of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s predictable U-turn and somersault on the endorsement of the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at a meeting Thursday, and to say that we are the least surprised by the well-rehearsed theatre.

They will lose together. Listening to the prepared statement of the former President after the meeting showed the usual ego trip and “I know it all” character of Chief Obasanjo.

In the first place, we dare to say that a pompous statement from the former President advising Nigerians on a vote against President Buhari is the best recommendation that can come at this time.

How To End the War On Boko Haram Terrorists and Other Insurgents

Full Text of the 58th Independence Day Anniversary Speech By President Muhammadu Buhari

Full Text of the 58th Independence Day Anniversary Speech By President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on October 1, 2018.

Today is a day of celebration and solemn reflection. It is the anniversary of the day Nigerians realised one of the most cherished of human desires – the desire for freedom. We, therefore, give thanks to and remember our founding fathers who laboured so hard and sacrificed so much to build and bequeath to us this wonderful nation. It is our duty to consolidate this great legacy.

Nigeria! Happy 58Th Independence Day Anniversary

There are no greener pastures than the blessed land of Nigeria!

HALLELUJAH!
Happy New Month! And Happy 58th Independence Anniversary of our blessed nation Nigeria with thanksgivings to our Almighty Father God JEHOVAH NISSI in the mighty name of our Lord, Saviour and Messiah, JESUS Christ and the infinite power of the Holy Spirit. AMEN!

Psalm 58 Message for Nigeria
1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.

7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

9 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
