Nollywood is Not Among the Top 10 Biggest Film Industries

How can a state government official and other stakeholders in the Nigerian film industry say Nollywood is among the top five biggest film industries in revenues in the world?
We have to stop telling ourselves embarrassing lies.
Nollywood is not even among the top ten biggest film industries on planet earth.
Click here to see the Top 10 Highest Grossing Film Industries in the World.

Misinforming the ignorant public has done terrible damages to the Nigerian society since Mungo Park discovered the River Niger.

The South African film industry is bigger than the Nigerian film industry in infrastructure and revenues. The Nigerian TV industry is substandard without MultiChoice,  and without Africa Magic, #Nollywood and #Kannywood would not have advanced in quality. We must stop all these Nollywood lies and state the facts.

We are yet to qualify for the official selections and competitions where South Africa and other smaller African countries have achieved success from Berlinale to Cannes; while the only bragging rights we have are being given special side attractions at Toronto without coming back with any prize or major acquisition. We don't even have a film market?
Films are made to be sold at film markets. How many of the selected Nollywood movies for Lagos at Toronto were sold at the film market?
They said '76, a 16mm film was bought for an American TV channel? And the producers did not get the message? Like when the best Nigerian entries at the 2011 biennial  Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO)  film festival in Burkina Faso were relegated to the TV/ Video category.
90% of Nollywood movies are teleplays.
Please, let us see the Big Picture!
